I give Cocina 1022 a five star based on their quality of food, amazing service and excellent margaritas. I tried their pablano con queso appetizer the flavor was amazing. If you like cheese dips I’d highly recommend this appetizer. It was more than “good”... it was delicious!! The house margarita wasn’t too sweet, like most, it contains a good amount of alcohol and nice light lime flavor. The tacos were delicious. I usually get corn tortillas, but was in a flour mood and these tortillas didn’t disappoint. They were light and crispy. Perfect! Get the chorizo and steak taco! You won’t regret it! I also tried the poblano and cheese ribeye, it had such a flavorful charcoal taste and the ribeye was extremely juicy. Even though this was a thinner cut the cook still managed to cook it at the right temperature and it came out pink and not over cooked. Ah mazing! I will definitely be back!
The salsa was amazing. The tacos were full of flavor and priced well. The best part was the staff. Great place. Will definitely be one of our regular spots in Milwaukee.
I was just here last week, my friend and I sat in the outside patio and we were beyond satisfied loved the authentic taste in the frijoles charros defiantly one of my favs besides the chipotle tinga tacos! They have an awesome special for $2 tacos on Tuesdays defiantly will be coming back! We found our new spot most defiantly!
Delicious. Gourmet Mexican flavors at taco truck prices! Flavor combinations were magnificent. Loved the huevos taco. And they deliver! Great place for dinner and friends.
I was on a food tour that stopped here and I can't wait to go back! Awesome pastor tacos. LOVE the palomas! Great service, cute place!! Awesome! I'll definitely be back to enjoy the patio.
Great food, bomb drinks, friendly staff and I personally loved the music. Makes it stand out from all the other Mexican restaurants. We will definitely be back!!
Amazing food and wonderful service! Loved the tacos and the corn side dish - can't wait to come back....
Great food!! The corn side dish is excellent. Great service and beautiful ambiance. Highly recommended!
I was there on a Monday night 6/18/18. Fast service, great cocktails and the chips and salsa to start were really yummy. My friend ordered the Shrimp in Mexican cocktail sauce with fresh cilantro, onion and avocado appetizer. I had the Enchiladas de Pollo en Mole entree and was very pleased with the mole. I came here a lot when it was the former Chez Jacques. I love the space, the decor, and the cleanliness. Kevin, the owner, gave us special attention. I hope folks will stop in and give this new place a chance. It would be a GREAT venue for bridal/baby showers or anniversary parties. The atmosphere is fantastic and the food superb.
Good service sat at the bar bartender was nice and made sure i was well taken care of not very traditional Mexican place very different which I liked a lot and the drinks were amazing would definitely go back
I loved everything about it! Amazing food and drinks, everything was so flavorful! Will definitely return!
Great drinks and atmosphere ! Highly recommend !
The food was good, the drinks were strong, and the staff was great. Considering, it *just* opened, that’s impressive. Look forward to going back.
Really was excited to have a meal here, it’s been on my list for a long time. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was very friendly. We had drinks within 5 minutes and they have authentic Jamaican ginger beer! Loved that. Apps within 15 minutes. The egg rolls were delicious! Easily our favorite part of the entire meal. The veggie Jamaican patties were also really tasty. Unfortunately we didn’t feel as great about our meals. He ordered the jerk chicken which is labeled “spicy.” The chicken was hit or miss on which pieces were dry and which weren’t, and it was not as spicy as he hoped. My husband said it was a 2, maybe a 3 on the spice scale.
I had the chickpea squash curry. It was hearty and warm but really lacking in flavor. It was labeled “medium spicy” but it was not at all. And I’m sensitive to spice. And I regrettably didn’t really see much squash in the dish. It was like a few sautéed thinly sliced veggies with an entire can of chickpeas and a small bit of sauce.
We also got the stuffed plantains. The texture was great, the flavor was almost non existent.
Overall, the dinner lacked seasoning and depth of flavor. It lacked salt. No salt or pepper even on the table. And was a bit dry. Would benefit so much from condiments and sauce.
We tipped generously, we enjoyed our experience overall. We would like to return and try a few other dishes. We would like to support local businesses! I hope we enjoy the next dishes we try a bit more.
The atmosphere is just perfect. The food is exactly what you expect from the heart of Jamaican cuisine, everything was properly seasoned to perfection. The staff is friendly and very polite and quite attentive, we didn't have to wait to be seated. Our server was Nadine, exceptional woman. The food is just WOW !!! I wish I could add more stars.
This not a restaurant that claims to be "Jamaican" just for the hype of it. This is it, this is the real deal.
We had a wonderful family experience at Mobay Cafe last night. We made a reservation and the table was ready for us when we arrived - with flowers on the table. The food was AMAZING, the staff was friendly and the drinks were absolutely delicious. Everything was reasonably priced and we went home with plenty of leftovers. The place had a nice atmosphere and there is even a larger dining table in the back to host a large group. We will definitely be back for more.
Mobay is very unassuming from the outside. If you're not looking for it, you wouldn't know it's there. Use the street view in maps so you know what the building looks like.
The atmosphere is wonderful. The decor is tropical in a classy style. The music has an island flare (a little too loud, but not deafening). Soft lighting.
Our server Dion was a delightful young man. Friendly, patient, accommodating. There when you needed him, but scarce to let us enjoy our food and conversation.
The food is just delicious. There were four of us and most of their appetizers and some sides come in a quantity of four. We each ordered a different one so we could all try each of them. We ordered the Mobay Meatballs, Shrimp Egg Rolls, Conch Fritters, and Fried Dumplings. Some sweet, some spicy. Overall great combination. Very tasty.
For dinner I ordered the happy hour Jerk Chicken Sliders. Yum. They come with crinkle fries. Two people ordered the Goat and Oxtail Combo dinner because they never had either before. They loved it. One ordered the Brown Stew Chicken which is only available on Wednesdays. She said it was very good. We had NO disappointments.
Overall wonderful experience with a good time being had by all.
Amazing food. Friendly staff. Strong drinks. Rum punch was sooo good. All the food I ate was delightful. I got a chance to Dj a private party here today and I had a great experience. I will be back
Hard to find Caribbean food around but this is it! Food was great and everyone was friendly. They even had live music playing!
Phenomenal dinner tonight. We tried shrimp egg rolls, jerk chicken, and oxtail. The oxtail was melt in your mouth. So yummy! Will definitely return.
I order here when I'm starving and want a lot of comfort food for a decent price. The amount they give you for the price is excellent, I recommend extra gravy to soak the heap of rice they give you. Easily can be two meals for a single order. The jerk chicken is both their best deal and their most flavorful dish, but in general everything tastes amazing. Really love this place
Omg!!! Came from out of town! I haven’t even pulled off yet! Sitting in my car eating our takeout SOOOO GOOD! We got Oxtail meal! Very good!
First time having Caribbean cuisine and it was amazing! Jerk chicken was hot but absolutely delicious. The staff is amazing and friendly. Price is fair for the quality and portion size. Definitely will be going back.
I really like this spot! Reggae music played the entire time, great customer service, great food priced nice, spectacular rum punch, I had the jerk chicken which was spectacular, but I wasn't pleased that 2 of my 4 pieces were like bones without much meat on them, the egg rolls & callaloo was amazing, nice happy hour specials, it was all so delicious, I closed my eyes & it felt like I was back in Jamaica, I can't wait to go back & try out some other items, as well as get more of the same!
It's the best Jamaican restaurant in town, hands down. Service was A1 with a unique menu and atmosphere. If you enjoy Jamaican food, this place is a must.
The food is utterly delicious. At this particular Jamaican restaurant it tastes like they have somebody's old Jamaican grandma back there cooking you a meal with all of her grandma love. There hasn't been a single time where I went and I had bad service or bad food. The prices are reasonable the service is great the atmosphere is great. In the event that you need to throw a party they have a banquet area available for you to rent so that you can have your parties. And your party guests will leave so satisfied. I definitely think that this is the best Jamaican food in Milwaukee.

Excellent customer service and authentic Jamaican cuisine! We loved every bit of it. The small glass of Rum Punch is very deceiving. It is loaded! The environment is amazing!
Some of the best Jamaican food I’ve had. I was very impressed with the authenticity. Tasted like it come from yaad! The jerk chicken was cooked just right, with the right amount of spice, the rice and peas were perfect, as well as the cabbage. The jerk chicken egg rolls were new to me and delicious! My friend also had the oxtail, which was seasoned just right and fell off the bone. Keep up the good work!
Visited today and the food was amazing! We ordered their brunch( ackee, cabbage and saltfish, fried dumplings, festivals, bammy ) and it was to die for! I mean authentic Jamaican food ( Jamaican hun chefs in the kitchen probably made the difference!!) I had to order extra fried dumplings. The food took a while to come, we waited probably over 45 mins which was a huge downside , but the service was great. The owner served us and she was very pleasant and super nice. The restaurant is very clean and the rest of the staff seemed very nice. Ambiance is great and they had music for the atmosphere. I’d recommend.
We have heard a lot of good things about this place and had to grab some food to go!
We grabbed Conch Fritters and Beef Jamaican Patties as appetizers. We each ordered a Two Meat Platter “Dinna Plate.” One with oxtail and curry goat, the other with oxtail and Jamaican jerk chicken. We got a BIG serving (good for two dinners each), and everything ordered was delicious. We can’t believe it’s the first time trying it.
We had Deion as our waiter...he was great! We ordered Curry and Jerk Chicken,Oxtails and Beef Patties...came with rice, plantains and cabbage. I tell you everything was absolutely DELICIOUS. I will be back ...regularly. And they have 5 dollar drinks during Happy Hr. 😁
