Great authentic Mexican food! The best part? It’s so hard to find great tacos here but these were so good. They got my dads stamp of approval and that says a lot. The place also had really neat paintings as part of their decor and my dad called the painter and even commissioned him for a piece so that was an extra cool bonus! The worst part? It’s definitely a tad costly. I saw a special for Tuesdays, I believe it was, but be ready to spend a bit per person. My mama also ordered the tostadas I think it was and they got super soggy from the meat so she wasn’t able to finish them but otherwise all was good.

I go to Taco Riendo whenever I crave some solid Mexican food. Shown below are the foot long and normal sized burrito. If you come here, I advice you to come on an empty stomach. I highly recommend the al pastor for the choice of protein and the home-made horchata for the beverage.

Wow! This place deserves all the good reviews. So affordable and fast service. After living in California and New Mexico, we were hunting for a Mexican spot close to downtown. I highly recommend this place! The tamales are huge and the tacos are delicious.

I love love love El Taco Riendo. My standard order here is the classic burrito, with barbacoa beef and tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, and cheese inside. Is your mouth watering yet? Mine is.... I usually take the burrito to go, and then head up Central 1/2 block to Fair State Brewing for a great beer with my burrito. Yum. It's a perfect combo, IMO. There are two basic burrito options: Mexican style, or American style. American style features rice, beans, pico, cheese and sour cream. Mexican style features rice, beans, grilled onions, cilantro, lime and the optional add ons listed above (my fav). It's the unique cilantro and lime combo that makes El Taco Riendo's burritos so special. The burritos here are wrapped nicely to allow easy eating. They are not as large as the burritos available over in St. Paul (El Burrito Mercado, for example), but El Taco Riendo's burritos are MUCH more flavorful and unique tasting. It's quality here, not simple quantity. The staff are all super polite and friendly, eager to help you out with questions. The cashier always speaks good English. There are limited parking options on Central, so be prepared to grab a spot on a side street and walk. The sitting area inside is relatively sparse and not large, so be prepared for this too. The night I went here, the line was quite long to order. Each burrito, enchilada, fajita, taco order are all made from scratch while you wait. I am happy that this restaurant survived their big fire several years ago (see my photos from 2020) where they operated out of a food truck, and decided to renovate and reopen in the original location. If you're craving a high-quality delicious burrito, get to El Taco! I know you want one now, right??? Gosh, I sure do. I'm hungry now!

I had El Taco Riendo do a food truck for my wedding party. The owner worked the truck and feed 100 people over two hours. The food was great, there were many options for all dietary preferences and he sent me home with a lot of leftovers. Very affordable and large portions. Would recommend for your event!

After my usual taco spot closed down, I needed to find another place to religiously buy tacos from 🌮. Seriously; I’ve gotten tacos waaaaay more than I’ve ever gone to church, believe me. So to find a new taco place to frequent were some pretty big shoes to fill Welp this place can also be called “Cinderella” because because El Riendo filled those shoes perfectly. Yeah I’m your average midwesterner for the most part; but I know delicious and authentic Mexican food when I get it. I grew up in an area of Milwaukee where I was able to get amazing tamales left & right, and when I moved to MN I had really missed that. After my favorite place to get tacos from closed, I had to find another good taco spot. Obviously El Taco Riendo is authentic; but their food is also great! El Taco Riendo has always been consistently good, and I am so happy to of found comfort in this place. They make the most perfect elote with a fair distribution of all the toppings. I whenever I order to pickup or deliver, I’ve asked them to possibly leave onions out as a topping, if they can. I don’t hate onions, but have a slight food sensitivity to them, so if I’m able to get less onions; I try to. Every time they’ve been so nice and have always left out the additional onions for me. Recommend elote 🌽 and their tamales 🫔. Any of their tacos 🌮 in any flavor are a no-brainer and all have been good! I’m happy I found this place through a suggestion of a coworker of mine! El Taco Riendo is so good!!

Fire!! These guys are doing it right. Two separate options of styles of menu. Authentic Mexican or Americano. Which in my opinion sets them apart. Quality food at a reasonable price and above average portions for your money!!

The mole enchiladas and tacos were out of this world! We ordered the pastor, tinga, and barbacoa and were blown away by all 3. Can't wait to come back again, for the price and portions we're happy to have a new delivery go-to spot.

I really liked the food here. I got the foot long burrito, which was a huge mistake. (Pun intended) It's just too much food. I really liked everything I put in the burrito I couldn't finish, or really, even pick up. It looked like I was eating a small baby it was so large. I liked the taste of everything. Looking around at other food and tables, everything looked good. I'll definitely be back.

This restaurant was AMAZING! I would compare the setup to a way better Chipotle or Qdoba. You have to stand in a line to order. The chefs are efficient but patient too. Usually with a setup like this, the servers get annoyed when you ask questions or go slow but they were all accommodating. There’s a menu on the wall with pictures. Note that there are a TON of vegetarian options. I got 2 veggie tostadas and a side of rice and my meal was tasty and cheap (under $6 cheap). My friend got the enchiladas (medium hot) and she said they were great! I will definitely be back.

This place never disappoints. I've tried so many different things on the menu and damn is it good but I have to say they're all pastor hits hard!

What do you get when you combine breaded steak, ham, chorizo, guacamole, beans, lettuce, tomato, onions, jalapenos and cheese? A torts Cubana, that's what😄 The sandwitch is huge and full of flavor, and if its a foreshadowing of the taste of the other menu items, I can see this place being a staple in my lunch rotation. Like a lot of the other restaurants off NE Central Ave. It can be overlooked due to the seeming similarity it has to the other Spanish style places. However, I would encourage anyone reading this to give this place a try if they have been eating Spanish food elsewhere just so you can make a comparison.

I love this place. My faves are the camarones el diablo (the spicy sauce is the bomb) and the caldo de res. This is comfort food for me. I brought my Korean friend here and she loved the caldo de res also.. A hole in the wall...but definitely worth checking out! Edit: 4/3/22 I haven't been here in quite a while. But it's still really good. The Camarones ala Diabla, which is always my favorite, is still great. I think they changed chef because it tastes and looks a little different. And their carne asada taco is still the bomb! Also, try their torta cubana. I love this hole in the wall places. They're a lot more authentic than most of the "Americanized" chains.

Very good authentic Mexican food. Big, satisfying portion. We didn't leave hungry, for sure. Parking could be a challenge depending on the time of the day.
