This is my first time in Alabama and I received an unbelievable experience when I ate there. The food was phenomenal and the customer service was unlike anything I experienced at a restaurant before !!! I highly recommend dining in and experiencing the southern hospitality and soul food I was fortunate enough to have !

All i can say is oh my GOD just mad i live in Pensacola or else I would be here at least 3 times a week some of the best soul food I've had in years but best believe when I'm in Mobile I will be eating here everything on my plate was on point
Best soul food in town, fried or bake chicken is awesome Try the chopped steak on Tuesday its a delight. Fried or grill pork chops are excellent, Ms Mary sides are incredible as well . very friendly staff!
Mary herself and her staff were amazing , by far the best service me and my brothers have ever had . The oxtails, mac n cheese and yams were made to perfection . Whenever we come back in town Mary’s is definitely the person we’re seeing first . Keep putting smiles on peoples faces and keeping them well fed !
Came to Mobile for a cruise. My husband and I ran across this hidden jewel. I had a fried chicken breast which was juicy, thick, and pure yummieness! My husband had fried pork chops which were nothing short of amazing! I am a Tennessean and from one Southern state to the next it was just like home. We stayed downtown but worth the 15 minute drive. Thanks Mobile for the sharing your soul food. If we ever visit again this is a definite!
The service was fantastic. My wife and I had the fried chicken plate with three sides a piece. The mashed potatoes, black eyed peas, green beans, butter beans, and mac and cheese were like my Maw Maw used to make.
I'm from Joliet, Il and yes they do sell soul food such as Mary's but oh my goodness when I came to Mobile and tried Mary's it blew my hair back..its enough to share and they have Kool Aid. I enjoy the food and people.
OMG!!! Not overrated at all! This place is a down home southern hole in the wall and it's amazing. We're finding the people of Mobile, Alabama to be some of the nicest we've ever encountered anywhere, and the folks here at Mary's are no different. But the food!!!
The fried chicken is the real deal. The fried pork chops are breaded the same as the chicken and delicious. The beef tips are like a rich and tender beef stew. We also had as sides greens, succotash, mac and cheese, mashed and gravy, and the best sweet potatoes we've ever had.
We WILL be back!
Home cooking at its best. Visiting Mobile and looking for good food. Found Mary's and can say it was the est meat and 3 ever. Little eclectic place with huge flavors and great attentive staff. Went Sunday for lunch and business was booming. Huge portions. Hubby had "best fried chicken he ever had!" I had turkey wings in great turkey pepper gravy. Candied sweet potatoes, yum. Daughter said mac and cheese was better than mine and mine's great. Wish i lived in Mobile so i could go back.
Real Southern home good cooking. Just like coming out of Mamma's kitchen. The ox tail mmmmm I can't eat like this all the time, but when I miss my Mamma I go to Mary's Friendly staff to. It's worth the drive.

We had lunch here and my beef liver was the best I've ever had. Perfectly seasoned and very moist. Turnip greens and green beans were also delicious. Lots of food for the money, you won't leave hungry. Cozy and comfortable restaurant but not a lot of parking spaces though. Highly recommend and will return soon!
Friendliest, most charming and helpful staff ever. I really wanted a good, Southern hummingbird cake for Christmas made by someone who could do Southern cooking right. I found Mary's Southern Kitchen doing a search on Urban Spoon and the positive reviews here don't lie. The cake was delicious. Will definitely be back!
This is by far the best bbq I have ever had. We were driving through Alabama and decided to stop at a local restaurant for some food. The only thing better than the fried chicken at Mary's is the service, as Mary and the waitresses made us feel right at home. I absolutely recommend coming here as it made my trip. My friends and I will be coming back very soon.

Good Home Southern Cooking. I like to support home grown Mom & Pa places. A lot of them or just average but this place is awesome. I was in town for about 1 1/2 weeks doing some on the job extra training & a coworker suggested this place for lunch. I was not disappointed. If you love Southern home cooking like momma or grandma use to make this is the place to go. I have one more day of training left & i will stop by this place one more time before i leave at home.

Even though we came in only 15 minutes before closing the staff was super friendly and we felt genuinely welcome. The food was excellent and I believe anything they prepare will remind you of your mother's or grandmother's cooking. As my 19 year old son said, "I have never had a better experience at a restaurant.
Like Going to Grandma's. This food is the real thing - wonderful Southern food (and plenty of it) at a great price. The fried chicken is succulent and tender without being greasy. The greens are wonderful. The mac and cheese is the old fashioned kind. The staff is friendly and welcoming. If you are looking for real Southern soul food, this is it. I'm sure someone's grandma is in that kitchen!

Nothing to look at, but some of the best southern home-style cooking I've found.
My family and I enjoyed the inexpensive home cooking, live music, and friendly atmosphere at Mary's. The baked chicken was tender and tasty, the yams were sweet, and the collards, red beans and rice were fine. My wife had the ribs and loved them. But it was the free live R&B music that really made me smile. Mary's Southern Cooking is clean and a great value for take out or dining in.
My husband and I were just passing through. Out of all the spots to stop for lunch decided on this one and so very glad we did. The food was awesome. There was service with a smile.
