So delicious! Fast & fresh. You could tell it was authentic Mexican food. Not like the chains. Top shelf margarita was fresh and delicious! Great service. Clean atmosphere. Will go again!!
Pretty legit Tex-Mex food for the Bay Area. Does not disappoint. Ate the chicken chimichanga and carne a Asada-- be prepared to bring some home. Oh and you will write home to mom about their Frozen margaritas. Get one.
I've eaten here twice. Easily the best Mexican in Baldwin/Mobile area that I've tried so far. The carnitas taco is CRISPY! Not greasy! The guacamole Fresca is FRESH and delicious. Tacos de carne Asada-juicy, flavorful, tender. It's not scrap meat drenched in salt. My only reservation was the chicken taco. The 1st time I had it, it was moist, juicy, pulled chicken. The 2nd time was dried out chopped chicken. Idk. The carnitas made up for it. The store it's connected to has a few staples but it's pretty small. The tacos though...great.
I have eaten here a few times, ordering mainly from the authentic Mexican menu. Food has always been fresh and seasoned well and I have not had anything I did not like.
The restaurant itself is somewhat of a dive with plastic table cloth, it's dark and it gets loud when it fills up.
The service is very friendly but a little disorganized. Or I could say they treat you like family and won't rush you. I would have ordered a second beer but I didn't because I knew it would take forever, to give you an idea.
All in all, definitely worth a visit. If you have time constraints, I recommend that you let your server know.
I ate here just last night (06/02/2015) and was extremely pleased. We dined as a party of 9, which I know can be cumbersome for service; however we had the best time, were treated well, and enjoyed delicious food. Having visited Mexico last Fall, I was craving the traditional street tacos, of which I couldn't get enough during my trip; Taqueria Mexico satisfied that craving! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my cheese-smothered burritos elsewhere in town, but this is the place to go in Mobile for a more authentic flavor. The prices are fantastic, too, including the price of alcohol ($1.99 draught!). Overall, we had a great experience and will be re-visiting, soon!
Take Out. Fast, friendly take out service. The food is always good and authentic. Love the chips and fresh salsa.
Family joint with A Store. You know when you walk in and the atmosphere is all ,excise, family is taking care of family and friends. The salsa is rich flavorful and has that taste and spice that says more. I went with the Carne Assada which includes salad with grilled tomatos, rice and beans, along with corn or flour tortillas. The Carlene was tender, and went well with the roasted jalapeño pepper, along with sliced fresh avocado. So which the rat of the world goes to the known chains, stick with the family spots, were the food is fresh, and cooked with care.
WOW! Very unexpected! The low rank is understandable if you don't know exactly what to expect! If you want wilted salad with yellow plastic over bean paste in a Dorito and called a taco, this is not what you want (Taco Bell is near by!)! If you have ever been in Mexico and paid your cab driver extra to take you to his favorite restaurant and loved it - this is that place! Service was perfect! At first it seemed the food was slow to get to the table, then you realize that quality takes more time. The service and food outshines everything around!
Very sorry!!!!. Whumsicaldreamz iam sorry u had a bad experience here yesterday I was not here and can not really speak on what happened but I asure you,all my waitresses are very respectful and treat each and every customer like family.Id like to make it up to you if you let me by treating you to lunch on me.once again iam sorry for ur experience here, and hope u give me a chance to make up for it.thank you

Horrible service. I went in for lunch and the waitress was AWFUL. We walked in and there was no one at the front to seat us. When we finally were given a table she was so rude and we had to ask for our chips and salsa- it's not like they were busy because there were only 2 other tables occupied. She kept staring at us and giving me a dirty look while we were eating. I don't know what her problem was... I am a Caucasian female with a Mexican husband.... Guess she didn't like that LOL... Needless to say she received no tip and we will not be going back. The new management must be the problem because we went there when it first opened and it was great!
Carne Asada. Perfect flavor love it !!!
Awesome Tacos. Love the tacos. True south of the border food.
Delicious and Authentic. Oh my goodness - For years I've avoided Mexican food in Mobile because the majority isn't very good and is blanketed in cheese to disguise the less than satisfactory offerings. Not any more - Taqueria Mexico, without question, is the best place in Mobile to get a taste of authentic Mexican cuisine. The staff is extremely friendly and speak perfect English contrary to what other reviews have said. As for the food it's very fresh and you can actually taste every ingredient as they blend together. While I could stand the salsa to be a little spicer, it has a very good taste and goes well with everything. For what you get the price cannot be beaten. The worst thing I can say about this place is that it's TOO conveniently located for me!
The BEST tacos I have ever had. Don't come here expecting Taco Bell garbage... But if you want true south of the border this is where you go. The lengha (beef tongue) tacos were out of this world!
Absolutely delicious! From southern California and haven't liked any Mexican food since being here, but this place makes me feel like I'm back on the border. Super friendly staff, clean restaurant, delicious food. We had the asada and al pastor tacos and a chicken quesadilla. I recommend all of it. Looking forward to going back.
Absolutely the best Mexican food in town! My husband and I love Fuego as well, but no one beats this place for authentic Mexican food. The prices are so reasonable too.
Great authentic Mexican food. Meats perfectly cooked, vegetables fresh. Note: This is not Tex-Mex (which I love) but a simpler, fresher kind of cuisine. Do yourself a favor and give it a try.
This is real mexican food. Los Rancheros, Aztecha, San Miguel... what do they all have in common? The same menu. If you're a fan of that crap they pass as Mexican food, this place probably wont be for you and you might have the same opinion as the negative reviewer at the bottom. I would also like to say that the servers I encountered spoke English well. As another previous reviewer stated the parking lot is very small for the size of the building, I agree that If you're going in a group it would be wise to carpool. It is pretty nice on the inside, they have big screen TV's playing Spanish television, instead of your typical Mexican ambient music. I was seated quickly and handed a menu which was a laminated sheet. You don't have many choices, but I assure you its more than five. The classic complementary chips were lacking, maybe because they weren't warmed, but the salsa was very good and had more kick than most places. When I first encounter an authentic Mexican restaurant I judge it on 3 meats you don't typically find at Americanized Mexican eateries: Chorizo, Tripa, and Lengua (cow tongue). I ordered three tacos with each meat. The lengua was sorta disappointing, it didn't taste like much, and I haven't found anyone that made it like Taco Loco did when they were open. The chorizo was good, but not as spicy and flavorful as it is at La Cocina. The tripa was outstanding. If you can get use to the texture, its simply divine. Its interesting to me how different places are better at one thing than the other. At Taco Loco it was lengua, La Cocina does chorizo the best, and Taqueria knows tripa. Each taco doubled up on the corn tortilla because they are overly generous with the filling. I was barely able to finish my tacos. Near the end of my meal, the manager or perhaps she was the owner asked me if everything tasted good. I noticed she did this with every patron while I was there. I was satisfied with my overall experience. La Cocina is still my favorite place for Mexican, but I will return here to try other menu items. The staff was very friendly, food was quick to come out, and it was light on the wallet.
Great!. This place was delicious! If you enjoy La Cocina's authentic tacos but don't want to wait to be seated, try this place out. The food was great, the dining area is clean, and the service was fast.
Authentic. It's really hard to find authentic, real Mexico flavor in Mobile. They're doing things right at Taqueria Mexico. I will be back, definitely.
If you have a choice between this and another Mexican restaurant, or that popular chain restaurant a few blocks away, try here first. Note: The parking lot fills up before the inside does; plan to carpool during peak time. There's plenty of room inside.
