Repeater. Great food, great staff, fun and festive albeit very busy. The place is popular so it is crowded but good food draws a a crowd. Definitely worth the wait because the food is wonderful and the service is great. We travel once a year to eat at this place LouLou's Griddle House.

Everyone was so nice! And the food was completely fresh. If you sit at the counter you get to watch everything be made. I wish I had more room so I could have tried more sea food. The calamari is very filling even the appetizer portion. We went during a busy lunch hour so service was a little slow but I'd love to come back when I'm in the area again!

We returned to the quieter Wharf 2 near the beach to eat at "Loulou's Griddle In the Middle". The restaurant is small with a few tables outside. Inside there are stools against the bar and another 4 or 5 tables, we got one of those, the decor was homely and almost kitsch. The menu featured several of the local favourites taking advantage of the proximity to the ocean.
LouLou's Griddle House is a little bit out of the way over on the Municipal Wharf and away from the bustle of Cannery Row but when we went in on a miserable cold, rainy December morning there wasn't an empty chair in the place.
After a short wait we sat at the counter and ordered bacon and eggs plus a single stack griddle cake between our family of three. The bacon and eggs are decent but their griddle cakes are plain insane, between my husband and daughter they finished maybe half of the single griddle cake. The guy next to was a heavy weight since he finished a whole choc chip griddle cake all by himself, I was in awe haha!
Friendly staff and food fresh from the griddle to your plate, what's to complain about!?

Loulou’s Griddle in the Middle was recommended by a local Monterey resident. What do you call someone from Monterey? A Montereyan? We arrived when the doors opened. I am glad we did as the diner’s 3 booths, 8 counter seats and 5 tables outside were taken within minutes of our arrival.

Fun Breakfast Joint. In town for a few days with my husband and this was on several must-eat lists. We went for breakfast (got there early so not much of a wait). The service was great, the atmosphere was fun, and the food was very good. My husband got a "short" stack of pancakes--warning! The pancakes are enormous!! I got the special Brule oatmeal. Apart from being a little loud because it is a small place, I really enjoyed our meal here and would recommend everyone to stop by.
Best breakfast we had in California!. My husband and I had French toast at Loulou's before kayaking the Monterey Bay. What a fantastic experience! We sat at on the stools facing the kitchen (my husband sat in Henry's seat without realizing it!) and it was a blast watching the cooks work. The French toast was amazing! Wish we lived closer, I'd go every Saturday.
Favorite Restaurant in Monterey. Awesome character and atmosphere! Omelets are good, pancakes are great, and the cinnamon french toast is phenomenal. I eat here at least once a week. The staff and cooks are very friendly... but they can get busy during peak hours so don't feel bad grabbing them if you need something.

Best omelette?. I had the seafood reef rider omelette. It was DELICIOUS. Maybe the best I had. Perfectly cooked. The ingridients were well balanced. I really liked it!
The place is small and cute. I would like to go back. I really enjoyed my breakfast.
Funny thing is I did not see the tag at the bar says "Henry" and I sat there. My friend told me it was Henry's seat which I thought maybe it was a reservation (we were waiting for a table and the server just told us she would not hold the bar seats anymore). Then Henry came and I had to get up and sit somewhere else :) Henry is apparently the customer who has been coming to Loulou's forever, so they reserved a seat for him. He is such a nice old guy. Henry is lucky to be able to go there whenever he wants!
Cute place, friendly staff. The Chowder in a bread bowl was very good. They toast the top bread piece...Yum!
My husband and I were traveling from up the coast heading to San fransico. I heard great things about fisherman waft and wanted to stop. Urban spoon directed us to loulous. Google maps said it was farther down the pier than it actually was and we almost gave up on finding it. On left side less thank quarter mile when you get on the pier. Place was small but service and food was amazing. I had the wrap and my husband had he squid and eggs, which was amazing.
Loulou is amazing! She took great care of us while our 2 year old was asleep in the car parked next to us! The squiddle-Panko crusted squid steak and eggs was tender and delicious! Crab cakes had nice flavor. Homemade tarter sauce was fabulous. Homefries with fresh basil and tomatoes were amazing! Drove 45 min to get here and would come again! Thanks Loulou for a great experience!
Best breakfast in Monterey & best setting. I eat here every time I visit. Can't beat the location for atmosphere -basically a tiny shackon Monterey's Wharf #2, where commercial fishing still happens, as opposed toFisherman's Wharf, which is for tourists. They put fresh grated parmesan and fresh chopped basil on their home fries. Heaven!

This is hands down the best breakfast in Monterey. If you ever have the opportunity to sit at the bar you must, it’s so fun and everyone who works here, I simply can’t even put into words how amazing they are. My son loves the huge hubcap pancakes and he begs us the come back any chance we get. They offer mimosas and everything on the menu is delicious. Another favorite is the Cinnamon French Toast and the fresh basil in an omelette is now a new necessity in my husband’s omelette. They are usually busy and have a wait but I promise you they are definitely worth the wait. We even came back 2 days in a row and this will always be where we stop for an amazing bite.
Nice casual settings with typical California costal local shack atmosphere. The pancake is humongous! Puffy and not too sweet! I thought everything is bigger in Texas, now I have to rethink about it. Great food, good start for the day 😁
What a great place. No nonsense, good food, served in a small place that would lose charm by changing things. Well worth the stop.
This place is just lovely. It’s a small spot - we did have to wait about an hour on a Sat morning, however we walked around and enjoyed exploring the Wharf while we waited, so it wasn’t a big deal. Also by the time we wrapped up closer to 1pm it looks like the wait for new parties softened.
Absolutely loved the food. Crab cakes and potatoes were cooked to a perfect crisp. My mom and sister had French toast, for which they had sourdough as an option, yum. My nephew had a hub cap pancake and was so thrilled about it! Might’ve been the largest pancake he has seen in his 4 years haha.
Big thank you to the folks who work there. Staff was so warm and friendly to us and my young nephew! Loved it!
The staff was absolutely awesome. They treat you like you're a old friend coming over to their house for a Sunday breakfast. It's small but cozy, the wait was completely worth it. The kids had fun singing along with the staff and watching the food be prepared right in front of them.
I found this cute little gem while visiting Monterey for my Best friends Wedding. I was craving clam chowder at 8am and LouLou’s was literally 4 minutes from my hotel. I was seated at the counter and loved my view! I enjoyed being able watch the chefs prepare everyone’s meal right in front of me. It’s small and cozy inside. Everyone around me was so friendly and let’s not forget the Clam Chowder was perfect! Now I know why LouLou’s has been voted King of a Clam Chowder. I will definitely be stopping by again when I’m back in town!
P.S..there is some outside seating but not a lot, when I say it’s small and cozy inside… it is!
Excellent breakfast. Fresh ingredients and great seasoning. Hubcap Griddle Cake is not to be missed. Terrific coffee as well.
The food was good, except for the country potatoes. The potatoes taste like old oil. I had a mimosa with guava juice, and it was good. If you order pancakes or French toast, make sure you share. Otherwise, it can be overwhelming because the portions are huge. I gave 4 starts because of the way the potatoes tasted. It was full when I got there and it was still full when I left. The place is right by the water and boats. Cool little/small place for breakfast. I recommend 100%.
Classic Monterey! Get yourself a huge breakfast right on the wharf. The only problem is expect a 45 minute wait. We got the seafood reef rider omelete and the hubcap pancake. The pancake was gigantic. Good service at the bar.
Unique experience and awesome food. The staff is efficient and the Chef knows what she's doing. The secret seasoning on the potatoes is special. Potatoes are cut fresh. Hubcap pancake defeated me, good luck to you!
