One of my favorite restaurants in town. The bartender is awesome and can make whatever you wish and has great specialty drinks. We didn't have reservations so we sat at the bar but had a great time!
It's a little off the beaten path but worth the trip. I went for a dinner out with my husband. I had the carpaccio with fried capers as an appetizer and it was fantastic. The crunchy capers were the perfect compliment to the carpaccio. I'd go back just for that. Another highlight was my husband's duck breast entree. Duck is easy to overcook or leave greasy and his was flawless. Peanut butter ice cream and chocolate cake finished a great meal. The wine list was okay but not as extensive as Garrett's or La Jolla. I can't wait to go back.
Great Restaurant. We always enjoy our meal at City Grill. Good food and good service. Different menu than you average restaurant.
All ways good. Have always enjoyed city grill and with the new location there is more room and not as dark, hope they can keep the restaurant open at this great location
Wonderful. I had the pleasure of eating here. It was amazing. I had scallops as an appetizer and they were cooked perfectly. I had scamp for my entree. It also came with two scallops. Everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked. They also served delicious, strong, top-shelf margaritas :)
Upscale Bistro. This is a nice restaurant, located in the small business complex fronting an upscale subdivision--I would not call it a "strip mall". It has a large outdoor patio, a good sized bar with table seating and a couple of small dining rooms. The atmosphere is contemporary, understated, classy, even romantic. The entrees are in the $25-35 range and everything is a la carte.
I had a wonderful argula/pear salad to start with and then I enjoyed shrimp over angel hair pasta with tomatoes and feta cheese. It was very good, although I think there was a bit too much feta and it was slightly overpowering. The service was very good.
The food quality and ambience were very nice, but I think it's a bit pricey all things considered.
Wonderful restaurant. I like the newest incarnation. My waiter was so superior to the one I had on my last visit at the old location. Steak was fantastic the way I used to love surf and turf.
Excellent! I guess this is a new location. Perfect atmosphere. Clean and very modern restaurant. The waitress was very knowledgable on the menu and reccomenfations excellent choices. The tuna Napoleon was out of this world! The duck and the filet were cooked perfectly and didn't need sides to compliment. Overall great experience. Will definitely be back.
Delicious. My husband and I had dinner at City Grill on Wed night (12/29). It doesn't look like much from the outside since it's in a strip mall. When we walked in, the green pleather booths also caused us some alarm. But the lighting was low, the restuarant was clean so we stayed and I'm glad that we did. City Grill is a small town restaurant that offers fine dining done right.
My husband and I shared the pear and gorgonzola salad to start. It was delicious and perfectly dressed. The server also brought us bread which was unremarkable.
My husband and I had the gorgonzola crusted filet. It was really tasy and perfectly cooked. It came with a homemade steak sauce, which we requested on the side. It was served warm and reminiscent of a balsamic dressing since it was olive oil based. I would pass on the steak sauce next time, not because it wasn't tasty but because I prefer a heartier steak sauce or none at all.The menu said the filet was served with asparagus....it did; 4 spears of asparagus. That struck me as odd since there are not any ala carte sides listed on the menu.
For dessert we shared the pear tart served over melted vanilla ice cream. Our server explained that the dessert takes about 20 minutes to prepare so she offered dessert a little early. I was glad that she did though.Other dessert offerings included a sea salt and caramel cheesecake that sounded dvine. There were other options but that one stuck out in my mind. The pear tart was delicious!
We will definately be back to City Grill the next time we visit Montgomery.
Closing this weekend, I heard.. Sad.
Better than you think.... It's in a strip mall so I didn't have high expectations. But, great food and great service. The Surf & Turf was great and the Salted Cheesecake a knockout... Expensive! (About $40 a person).
Waitress was amazing! Food was delicious! Make a reservation! You can choose outside dining, which we prefer! Brie with honey and almonds, classic, crab cake were the apps we delighted in. The main courses of our choices were the filet, perfected by the Chef! The scallops, and pasta with mushrooms and spinach was a bit more spicy than I prefer, but don't let it discourage you from the meal. Scallops were perfect! Salmon with shredded and seared Brussel sprouts and fingerling potatoes, just the whole time everyone was smiling and enjoying! This place is pricey but worth every penny1
Montgomery sorely needs more great restaurants, but at least we have City Grill. Steve always makes all the little things come together for an all-around exceptional dining experience. Excellent service with theb kind of friendly demeanor that is noteworthy... Like how I posted that fact right here.
The food is delicious and the service is excellent, they don't have a huge selection of wines but the ones they have are pretty good, my wife and I enjoyed every time we have dinner there.
Lamb Chops were amazing. Service by Michael was great as always. Atmosphere is private and quiet. Great chef and mixologist. Highly recommend.
First thing I noticed was the atmosphere, loved it. Then we met our server, Lily, she was so friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. She even made some suggestions & man was she right, all the way to the dessert. The food was delicious, I tried a few new things there & I loved them. Highly recommend! We will be coming back for sure!!
This is the nicest restaurant in Montgomery. Great food, innovative menu concepts but they keep the 'old favorites" too. Great wine list and penultimate service. You have to try it!
My brother and I decided to try City Grill on New Year's Eve! What a perfect meal and night it was! We split a bottle of wine, shared the fried eggplant for an appetizer, my Fried Goat Cheese Salad And Duck were to die for and that apple dessert. I highly recommend this restaurant! We will most definitely be coming back!
Went here for the first time. We had an GREAT experience at this amazing culinary gem in Montgomery! They, unlike many venues in this area, have realized that reasonable prices for superb food and service are key for a successful business that people would want to come back to for more! What a great concept! Meal & service was hands down THE BEST we have had in this city.
