I am half Mexican and half German, my mother has made me very spoiled growing up with our family's recipe. I am also from Arizona, so coming to South Carolina, I did not expect much for Mexican food. After trying a few places down town and in the country, I thought I had run out of places that might actually freshly cook their Mexican food. This place was amazing, reminds me of home and sticks true to Mexican food, none of that tex-mex or chimichanga Americanized food. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

This is a great Mt Pleasant Mexican spot. We went in when they first opened and we're not impressed. However we are glad we went back - new owners. Everything from the chips and salsa to the Entree specials was fantastic.

Delicious, flavorful Mexican food outside of Charleston in Mt. Pleasant, SC- easy hike from Isle of Palms.. Not fancy yet clean restauant tucked away in a strip mall. Wonderful homemade tortillas and sauces. Fish taco (Mahi) and Carnitas taco were excellent- loads of flavor. Guac was fresh and real.

Delicious!. My husband and I stopped by for dinner a couple of weeks ago. We both enjoyed our choices very much....attentive staff, fresh salsa and loved the chips, they were a bit different than what we were used to. My husband had the fajitas and I had the carnitas.....excellent! Very flavorful and would stop again.

The food was fresh, authentic, and delicious. Good portions. 5 person group, and everyone loved their food. They have indoor and outdoor seating, we sat outside, it was a cute area. Our waitstaff was helpful and nice. We would definitely go back.

Carmen y Juan is a great authentic Mexican spot hidden gem in Park West. My wife and I are always craving street tacos and this is a spot we often forget about that's very convenient and has a great variety. The servers are attentive and welcoming. Cozy bar also in the restaurant and a lively atmosphere. Everything we have tried on the menu has been outstanding. Highly recommended if you are in the area and looking for great Mexican.

This is the fourth time I’ve ordered carnitas and they are consistently fantastic! The skinny margarita is delicious, I’ve tried skinny margaritas from countless Mexican restaurants and this one is the best by far! Staff is friendly too. We will continue to come back!

I really enjoyed dining at this place. The owner, Juan, came out and brought our drinks and we had a good talk about where he was from and how the restaurant came to be. The food was great! The tacos had great flavor and the fried stuffed jalapenos were awesome, but be warned, they pack a punch! Try the hibiscus margarita. Actually try any of the margaritas. After a hot day walking around Old Village, the drinks left little to be desired. Even the free chips and salsa were delicious. It seems that they make their own chips, which to me, gives then a distinct advantage over your regular old Tex Mex place that one seems to frequently come across in the lowcountry. The food is pretty authentic but the salsas that come with the food were the only thing that I wanted more from. I'm used to having at least two homemade traditional salsas with some kick, but it could be that that stuff doesn't add much value considering the area.

This is our usual Friday night takeout. Very good authentic south American food. One of the most economical restaurants in Mt Pleasant. They have always gotten our to go orders correct. Food has always been on point.

This is my go to any time I'm in town going forward!! House made chips are the best! Skinny margarita 🍹 was also the best one I've had in a long time. Small mom & pop place with big smiles and service!

Best authentic Mexican around the area hands down. Since moving to MP, my husband and I were on the search for great Mexican. Chips and salsa were fresh and tasty. We ordered asada tacos and the carne asada platter. Both were exceptional. Very friendly staff and quick service. Definitely our new go to spot!!!

Wonderful food & family friendly unlike review from “ Wendy “ below! We bring our young children every single time! The owners actually have a young son ( 3 years old I think ) so this place is the exact opposite of not family friendly!

Great food, and it has that "home cooked" feel to it. The wet tacos are definitely not what I was expecting, and are a cilantro lovers dream! Will definitely be back to explore the menu some more.

Great food and the owners are even better than the food. It is our second time eating here when we visit from Myrtle Beach and the food is consistently excellent. Their food is authentic and delicious. The service was great and we were served quickly. We were able to meet the owners who were wonderful people. Sadly they lost their teenage son who was a very talented athlete. They started a foundation to honor his memory and life. They gave our boys some hats from their foundation that you see below. We had an incredible lunch and a beautiful moment with them and our boys. Thank you and God bless. We will be back every time we are in town.

The food and service here is excellent. The appetizer (pictured) was one of the most interesting tastes I've ever experienced, and the chips and salsa were very good as well. The taquito entree was quite good, but I'd recommend selecting a meat other than the ground beef, as it was a little bland. Other than that, I really enjoyed eating here and highly recommend this restaurant to others.
