Went there for breakfast at 7 am. I work nights so I cannot visit during the day. The chicharrón breakfast sandwich was amazing. Full of flavor with a cup of coffee. I also had the cheese sandwich. The goat cheese was very tasty but the sandwich was dull. Perhaps needs to be heated. Nevertheless, I put it on the air fryer at home and it was delicious. I got me a whole chicken left over from the night before to make soup but I ate a few pieces while cutting it and it was so good. The chicken is flavorful with very distinctive spices. Highly recommended during lunch.

Excellent chicken and sides. I used to live in San Diego and went to El Pollo Loco. This is better! You'll want to lick off the bones and get every piece!

Just left Mario’s Food excellent! But the best part of our meal was Connor. Excellent customer service. I was having difficulty ordering through the computer. I’m a senior not that savvy. Connor picked up on this. He made me feel so at home. The menu suggestion were excellent. I have to say the food was also excellent. The white rice was very full of flavor. The chicken was also filled bodied burst of flavor. We will come back again, every time we come to Charleston. What a difference from Daytona Beach where I’m from. I love friendly, polite people with smiles on there faces, great attitude. Connor definitely makes Mario’s He’s an asset. Thank you Connor. Mario I hope you appreciate him.

Awesome chicken! Simple but perfected menu options. Chicken sold in quarter, half, or whole bird. Slaw, green beans, garlic rice, Yucca fries & French fries to choose from for sides. Great for to-go take home meal.

Great chicken and sides. The chicken was pretty much perfect and the dipping sauces added a whole new dimension. The bean sides were some of the best we have had. The rice and fries were also top notch. Very nice staff and quick. The passion fruit drink was just what I was looking for. Will definitely go again

It was so yummy! We just got here from Tennessee for a short vacay and came across this gem. We ordered the whole chicken to share between the 3 of us along with yucca fries, white rice and green beans. The chicken was on the dry side but it was so delicious. Not enough for us to fuzz over. It was so seasoned and dip it in their sauces and you're set! And while you here, don't forget to grab their homemade juices. So refreshing!

THE BEST ROAST CHICKEN IN CHARLESTON! The chicken was moist with delicious spices, and the sides were great too. The staff is friendly and although the dining area is not fancy, it and the bathroom are very clean. Do yourself a favor & give Mario's a try. You won't be disappointed!

My wife and I love Peruvian chicken. This little gem in Mount Pleasant caught our eye and we were very glad we found it. The chicken is marvelous! I didn't feel a little. Sorry for the man working because he was the only one there. Kudos for hard worker!

Such a wonderful, delicious lineup of Latin fare and friendliness. Everything was a first for me despite my relationship with a Chilean restaurateur in Bethesda, Md., years ago who'd introduced me to the flavors and customs of South America. Not spicy but spiced delicately using elements of Spanish and Portuguese cooking that feature fish, beef and chicken cooked with near mystical perfection with toasty, lightly smoked, and often with hints of citrus marinade, lime, lemon and mango that embrace the meat resulting in a crispy tender dish sprinkled with something quite engaging of all senses; amounting to what I'd suggest as comfortably spiced dishes with nothing dominating the dish but marrying the meat to vegetables and unite into savory bites. After eying the line up of browned, seasoned crusted rotisserie chickens encased at the counter, i ordered delicately spiced quartered chicken and sauteed string beans, and added a serving of yuca root fries that are like fried wedges potatoes but are denser and less starchy. To drink, I ventured into purple corn juice spiced with clove, cinnamon and citrus, called Chicha Morada. I imagine this would make a great vodka-laced cocktail. I wish I'd gotten the name of the dessert, which was simply delightful. Stephanie, the manager, said these caramel pinwheel cakes are made freshly daily by the owners Mario's. These cakes demonstrate the perfectly, almost subtly sweet desserts that I love with Latin and Mexican baked treats. The cakes have a smooth consistent density resulting in lightly sweet pallet pleaser. A trip to Mount Pleasant will be made strictly around Mario's weekend presentation of ceviche, a Peruvian hallmark delicacy of citrus marinaded fish, shellfish, onion and seasonings. The all-women staff are lovely ambassadors of various Latin and South American countries and Cuba, and each contribute to the flavors, fares, warmth and welcome into this brilliantly unassuming, authentic experience and restaurant. (Located next to the former Bi-Lo in the Sweetgrass Shopping Center off Johnnie Dodds Blvd.)

It’s a me! Sorry I had to (IYKYK). On to the food. I couldn’t take a picture of my own food because I ate every damn bite. The yuca fries were a first and definitely won’t be my last. Their specialty is chicken and boy is it! We tried both of the specialty beverages and liked them both. I have no clue what authentic Peruvian cuisine tastes like but this place sure set the bar high!

Cheapest, but perhaps the best tasting meal I've had in Charleston this week. Ordered through Uber Eats to be delivered near MUSC and my food was still hot and delish. For the price the sides could be a bit bigger but other than that I'd order from Mario's again.

If you like tasty chicken, this place is amazing. Even the same old sides such as green beans and cole slaw are killer with wonderful flavor that even my meat- and-potatoes man enjoyed them. I got the yuca fries and white rice. Delicious. Quarter of a chicken was plenty, too much actually.

Delicious Peruvian food! We drove from Goose Creek just to try it out. The service was great, and the food was delicious! I was hoping to eat Papas a la Huancaina maybe it will be added to the menu. The chicken was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. It literally melts in your mouth. The Garlic Rice was flavorful without being overpowering. I also had a side order of the yuca fries delicious. I ordered a Lomo Saltado to take home to hubby with a Chicha morada. He loved them. Definitely a Winner!

The chicken is so tender and flavourful! The fried rice is amazing to go with the chicken. The steak fries are ok, but the Yuca fries are better!

Food is 5 star, he’s not the friendliest so that’s why I gave them 4 stars. Chicken is delicious, fries are good, as are the green beans. Also the rice has a unique flavor that’s really good. Will definitely be back.
