This is a long time known, laid back and friendly bar in Mount Prospect. It's downtown across from the Metra train tracks, so the location is convenient to stop in when I am waiting for the train back to the city.
Since MP is my hometown, I know a lot of the usual patrons. They look out for each other and will great you warmly. My dad comes here all the time and everyone knows each other. The owner Al and the other bartenders are nice and attentive.
They have a large menu with many options including standard pub grub, sandwiches, fries, salads, steak, ribs, and much more. The cook Noe makes delicious food. I often get the grilled cheese sandwich with fries. You can even get Greek fries and they are amazing. The salads are always fresh and the homemade Greek dressing is tasty. They have daily specials so make sure you check out the postings.
On Sundays the kitchen is closed, however they have a pot of chili for patrons that includes toppings like onions, cheese, and oyster crackers. Sometimes patrons bring in food to share while they watch the Bears games on Sundays.
Every winter they do a big raffle party for a children's charity, and in summer they have a cookout. On Thursdays year round they have Trivia Night.
One more important thing: the bathrooms are very clean!
I have been coming here for years and it is a great neighborhood place for a drink and a nice meal. We have had MANY birthday and anniversary dinners here. Before covid it was a great place to stop by and grab a drink, I really hope that doesn't change once life returns to normal. Definitely check out Sam's Place for a good drink, and a good meal in a "classic Mt Prospect institution"!
The homemade chili & saganaki cheese are my favorites but they have other great menu choices too. I love to eat their in the summer at their outdoor sidewalk patio. The prices are reasonable & the food is tasty.
Best towny hole-in-the-wall bar you'll ever go to. Food is fantastic and the people and service are even better. Best of the best
Food full of taste, not salty. Warm atmosphere and very down to earth. Great for a casual dinner any time of the week, or for a special occasion.
A good, friendly place. The food is standard bar food but it's well done. Everything is well priced and the staff does a great job taking care of you
Great place for some great food, and I do recommend the home made yogurt dressing, and a cold beer or drink. Tony is a great bartender and host!! You won't be disappointed. Cheers
