We stopped by Shah Restaurant accidentally and were not sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised that the food was very-very good. They really took care of us and were polite and helpful. We enjoyed our lunch and will definitely come back.
I've been going here for over 7 years. The location isn't much to speak of and the ambiance is even worse! 😀 But the food was always outstanding and consistent. Over the past 2-3 years though, they have changed their cooks and changed their recipes quite significantly. If you loved the food here in years past, you will be very disappointed. I'll still give it 4 stars because relative to other restaurants, the food is still decent. But relative to what Shah itself used to be, it's a massive disappointment 😥
Got the chicken haleem and beef jhalfrezi to go.
Chicken haleem was a thick porridge - I’ve never had it before so that was a new revelation for me since I have only had Khichda which is a stew like version. But tasted good. Wish they had given ginger, green chillies and coriander with it.
The beef jhalfrezi was tasty too but the meat was a bit chewy. The masala was good.
Both dishes had a very homely feeling to them- as if made in ones own kitchen. So good for those who are homesick.
Hope to try other dishes too. Fully halal place.
Update:
They’ve started serving Biryani - I really recommend the chicken biryani. Big pieces of chicken and long we’ll spiced rice. Very good with the raita. I really appreciated that they were open on Eid Day which was really helpful.
Amazing food, very authentic and big portions. Don't do what we did where we ordered so much food thinking it will be small portions and ended up with plenty of food left over. Oh and the prices are very cheap.
Great authentic Pakistani and Indian cuisine. Very flavorful. Not too greasy. Chill atmosphere.
Great Indian food- chicken tikka was great and I couldn’t stop eating the garlic naan - good with the chicken tikka masla sauce or by itself. The rice dish I probably won’t get again, nothing special. The restaurant is self service and the place looks dingy, but they’re good at the food so who cares.
