This has been a great place for eating ever since I met my wife 29 years ago. I've been bringing my family here ever since. And my wife's family has been coming here for over 50 years. Now Anna and her husband are retiring and the doors will be closing this Wednesday June 9th 2021. Thank you for all the great dishes over the decades that we've been coming here. Take care
Very traditional Chinese restaurant. Friendly hardworking owners. Went in for takeout. And to our surprise, it is really quite good.
Dishes are authentic and have great flavor! Perfect amount of seasonings and spices. Great service-food came fast & in a timely manner. Yes, when it’s busy you have to wait but it is never that long and be mindful it is fast for two people-plus they have a lot of to-go orders. Well worth the wait. Love coming here! Also recommend take away!
We almost did not go in. The place looks dreary. But I'm glad we did. We had shrimp with snow peas, chicken and broccoli and pork fried rice. The food was fresh and tasty. The food was obviously cooked to order and the woman who waited on us was very pleasant. we'd go again were we back in Napa!
I first ate at the Asia Cafe in 1959 and kept coming back for many years. I moved away from Napa in the early 1970's, but whenever I came back to visit friends and family, I would go to the Asia Cafe and eat. Always great food. I am sorry to hear they are closing.
I hesitantly went in due to the atmosphere, but do not worry. It is a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere.
Very friendly traditional chinese mom and pop restaraunt. Its my go-to place for chinese food in Napa.
I have tried many of the items, never disappointed, the sesame chicken being one of all-time favorites.
Food looks great plated in the restaraunt.
*edit
they will sometimes be open late if the downtown area is busy.
Been getting take out for 20 yrs....sooooo good. LOVE Mushroom Egg fooyoung. Huge egg rolls. DELICIOUS beef chow mein, best Hot and sour soup , family owned and operated! Nicest family ever!!! Prices excellent
A Napa institution. The fried prawns are mandatory, even if you don't have kids. All the favorites are well done-- the Mongolian beef, the fried rice, chow fun and chow fat, even egg foo-yung. Very modest establishment, kinda run-down looking family run affair. Understaffed (just the one older couple running the whole show), so kind of slow service, and cash only. But once you're aware of the limitations, absolutely the best authentic Chinese food in Napa.
Cheap eats in Napa? Who knew?!?
Wanting something to eat that wouldn't break the bank, but provide a sumptuous meal, strolling through Downtown Napa led us to Asia Café. Conveniently located on Main St., I was perusing the menu at Zuzu next door and my wallet led me to Asia Café. Plus, the big sign saying "Chop Suey" hanging over the awning.
Asia Café is a mom n' pop operation, which has great specials to choose from - family dinners & deluxe family dinners, which come with a combination of different entrees.
Deluxe Family Dinner for 2 (Cantonese style pork chow mein, pork fried rice, 6 fried prawns & sweet & sour spareribs) $19
Pork fried rice-
After only having an appetizer buffet the night before & charcuterie for brunch earlier in the day, the pork fried rice hit the spot for me. Greasy & satisfying, I foregoed my reluctance to eat much rice & had the lion's share of the rice.
Pork chow mein-
I didn't care for the pork chow mien. The noodles were soggy, which I found un appetizing. Eating most of the rice, I was glad to leave my portion of the chow mein.
Fried prawns-
6 puffy pillows of seafood delight, the prawns came with cocktail sauce & hot mustard. Biting into these were a crispy treat. I could've snacked on a bowl of these watching History Channel.
Sweet & sour spareribs-
Anther fried wonder, the breaded spareribs were tender, sweet with pineapple glaze. The bell peppers, onions & pineapple chunks added even more texture to the dish & I eagerly polished off the plate, leaving only the syrupy glaze.
Wonton soup (additional)-
I'm an Asian soup guy, and Asia Cafe's por wonton soup soothed the soul. With juicy chunks of pork and, I believe, 12 ground pork wontons, the wonton soup warmed us on a sunny, but chilly, Napa day.
Service was good. The "mom" took our orders & waited on us. Our food didn't come out right away, but the wait wasn't too long. We knew our food was fresh, as we could hear the "pop" preparing & cooking our food. Seating is best described as Denny's-esque, with booths on the perimeter and a few round tables in the center. Drab-looking? Yes, as is the décor. But, cheap food!
Asia Café did the trick for us during our visit to Napa. Whereas other eateries charged $12 for a cheeseburger, our Deluxe Family Dinner for 2 had us stuffed with a massive amount of food, for only a little more. In a sea of hoity toity, it's nice to see a floating barge of frugality as a respite from all the $$$$ pricepoints.
Highly recommend!

As a young chap in Oakland (1960's) my dad use to take us to Chinatown, San Francisco. He knew the best shops in alleys and up dark stairs off Grant. It was delightful. Asia Cafe is an exact example of those days. The food? It's as authentic as it gets.
THE PLACE HAS BEEN AROUND IN NAPA FOREVER! THE SOON FAMILY OWNED IT WHEN MY CHILDREN WERE BABIES & NOW MY OLDEST IS 48 YEARS OLD! THEN WHEN MR. BING SOON RETIRED IT CHANGED HANDS TO THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE IT NOW. STILL GREAT EATS AT AFFORABLE PRICES W LOADS OF FOOD ! IF U WANT FANCY THIS IS NOT FOR U !!
VERRRRY SWEET PPL... YES THE SERVICE IS A LIL SLOW ..... BUT THE FOOD IS WORTH THE WAIT !!!
I have been coming since I was a little girl....thee BEST Chinese food I have ever had. Always funny to see the tourists turn up their noses as they peer inside just knowing they are missing out😂
great little place, seating is limited so take out is your best option. last time I went it was cash only. good prices and better food.
Building looks a bit old inside, water tastes like it came out of a hose, however the food was AMAZING. Next time going with either take out or if eating inside getting soda instead of water.
Dated, simple, inexpensive in downtown Napa. Sevrral long time customers there. Not upscale or touristy. Good Asian food. Best bargain of my trip.
Best Asian food!! Does not look pretty inside it's been that way for at least 30 years since I've been going. BEST!!
