My first visit to Margot's was back in August 2010 when I was visiting Nashville for my birthday. I had brunch and it was delicious! I came back for another Nashville visit in March 2011 and made sure to come back for another meal that weekend which was also amazing. In the Fall of 2011 I moved to Nashville and have come quite regularly to Margot's for dinner and brunch over the last several years. It's one of my favorite restaurants hands down. I love that the menu changes daily, but you always know you'll have some version of a usual staple like a steak dish, fish, chicken, a vegetarian dish, etc. Brunch is the same in the sense you know they will always have some yummy egg dishes with seasonal ingredients. The staff is wonderful and know us by name when we visit. We have celebrated a number of birthdays, anniversaries, friend's visits, and many other special occasions. Wonderful food, attentive and friendly staff, and a beautiful space makes this one of my go to restaurants that I'll never tire of. Thank you Margot and team!
What a wonderful place with an incredible owner/chef/operator! Went to a cooking class there last night and had such a wonderful time! Margot is down-to-earth and so respectful to others including her staff! Definitely my favorite Nashville gem.
I had dinner at Margot over the weekend while visiting a friend in TN. Collectively our table ordered pasta, chicken, and short ribs plus an appetizer of homemade chips. Everything was AMAZING. We all took a bite (or two...) from each other’s plates and had no complaints whatsoever. It was some of the best food I’ve ever had while dining out. The ambience is also beautiful. Feels like you’re truly in a tiny spot in France. Our waiter was clearly passionate about the food and very attentive. The prices were extremely reasonable especially for the quality of the food and experience. Would also be an excellent spot for an intimate date. Wish I lived closer!
If you enjoy exquisite food and drink, visit this culinary nirvana where the menu changes daily with delectable seasonal and local choices. Meats and sauces make your taste buds dance. Vegetables are fresh and delicious. Desserts melt in your mouth, and the service is unsurpassed. Every dining experience here is a celebration.

It’s always a pleasure to dine here! I have never had a dish that did not delight
Margot is the best place to go in Nashville!! Always amazing service and incredible food!! Thank you for being an awesome place!
My husband and I went there New Year's Eve which is also our anniversary. We loved the face that they had a regular menu rather than a prix-fixe one. I had the short ribs and he had the scallops. Both dishes were superb. Even better were the hazelnut daquoise and jelly filled donuts for dessert. The service was great. One of the best meals we have had in Nashville and maybe ever.
I just watched this restaurant being flooded and the staff here quickly took action worked as a team to rid the restaurant of all the water that flowed in. Bravo to the staff!! They even kept the restaurant operating serving food and drinks. My hat is off to all of you. Bravo great job!! Food and drinks excellent!
I absolutely love this place. Amazing food. Everything so fresh and well prepared. Wonderful place in Nashville.
This restaurant is a gem! Wonderful ambience and the food and wine choices are fabulous! We will return.
This place was exceptional. Excellent local food options and friendly service. Lovely hospitable charm and not too fancy!
Sumptuous and homey !!!i eat out 25 days in a row every month. I'm accustomed to all variety of " fu fu" food. Margot's food make I feel like a chef invited you to her house for dinner. Be comfortable and enjoy. I will be dreaming of this place!
My fave!. Possibly because it is in the neighborhood or possibly because I have had just about everything on the menu and it never ceases to excel expectations, I don't know which but I love this place. I love the ambience, the waiters, the host, the works. Try the warm olives and the warm chips and homemade aioli. It is a great way to start. And if you are a wine snob, you will be most impressed with everything on this menu. Margot is a pro!
Great food, great service, and charming atmosphere...yummy desserts as well!
Over the years Margot Cafe has become more elegant and moved upscale in its clientele. The food has always been excellent. Tonight we had steak and flounder. The rare steak was beautiful and perfectly cooked. The flounder was mild and flakey with a light sauce that complimented the delicate fish, not overwhelming it. Never had better of either anywhere.
There is an interesting offering of cordials, Port and Madeira at what I perceive to be bargain prices. We did order a dessert - peach tart. Bad choice. The pastry was seriously soggy and the whipped cream excessively sweetened and with an odd flavor - maybe a stabilizer. I could easily be convinced it wasn't really whipped cream. Don't know if desserts are a weak area as this is only time we have ordered a post dinner sweet. The other disappointing element of a generally excellent dining experience was the service. Elegant is attentive but not intrusive. We experienced attention but with constant fiddling -- moving our plates and cups on the table, removing silverware as soon as it was put down, clearing the table and scraping invisible crumbs twice during the meal. Enough already!
Bothersome and distracting not relaxing and pleasing. Still a strong "Like" but would like to see some fine tuning too.
Absolutely. Fantastic. Went for brunch. Perfectly cooked steak. Incredible cocktails. My mother got the sausage and ramp omelette and it gave my perfect steak a run for its money....
Nice Brunch. I have been for brunch a number of times. The food is always enjoyable and the pace is never rushed.
Only been there once (brunch) and found the food to be good and the service to be very good. Only down side was the price.
Unbelievable. Margot's has jumped to one of my favorite places to go when visiting Nashville. Oh. My.
Everything here is great. The ambiance is great. The service is great. The food is to die for.
I had the Seafood Steampot (I think??). Basically a few kinds of seafood in a fantastic broth. It was so amazing I'd love to try to make it at home.
Their menu changes daily based on availability (they're a farm to fork) so definitely give it a try. My dining partners had the chicken and pork. Everyone was more than satisfied.
Unusual menu items. A little pricy but excellent.
The Best!. The best restaurant in Nashville, hands down! Anything you get is amazing. The menu changes everyday, and most of the time they have it updated on the website. I always get the chicken or whatever fish they have. The pasta is always good too! The sorbet is the best you will ever have, especially the peach or watermelon. Everyone who works there is super nice too! We go there once a week, try it!
Really enjoyed the food although it's kinda close quarters
A favorite. Very romantic, invinting, great food. Best restaurant I've been to in Nashville.
The best of everything that is great about East Nashville! Always something new and different... But most importantly, always delicious.
Whether for brunch or dinner, this is a terrific place to dine. Local suppliers provide fresh foodstuffs that are prepared to perfection. Service is good. Ambiance nice. Prices are high especially for wine list but overall experience is wonderful.
Our favorite restaurant. My husband and I love love love this restaurant! We love the changing menu, awesome drinks and great atmosphere! Small but romantic ! Very eclectic.
Love it. One of our favorites! Always great service and well crafted, interesting food.
Awesome. The food here is wonderful... and you pay for its quality. Always have had good service and a nice experience when eating here.
Margot Cafe is a casual, upscale, neighborhood restaurant that sits in a single dwelling at five points across the street from a stream of fun eateries in East Nashville. Margot McCormack and co-owner, Jay Friene opened their doors six years ago, renovating an old 1930′ s service station. I love the atmosphere, as it reminds me of a cool neighborhood restaurant where I would be just as comfortable eating at the bar, surrounded by brick walls and copper pots on a Tuesday night as I would be when taking friends out for a scrumptious meal of celebration. I chose Margot for a group of out of town friends last Saturday night. I usually feel a little pressure to make sure everyone is happy and leaves Nashville with an appreciation of our burgeoning food scene. I’m so pleased to say that I’m smitten once again, as was everyone, with the wholesome charm of the truly delicious, unfussy food that came out of the kitchen. To me, Margot Cafe is Nashville’s version of Berkley’s Chez Panisse, as th
Built in the 1930’s as Fluty’s Service Station Chef Margot McCormack has turned this into one of Nashville's “Best of” places to eat for the past 6 years in a row.
Outstanding. I’ve been to the Margot cafe a few times and it is my favorite spot to bring friends when they visit from out of town. I took a friend here on 12/02 and everything from our server, Evelyn’s care, to the delicious food was amazing. We started with cocktails, we had the pear pressure, delicious and refreshing. For appetizer we had the smoked salmon which was extremely flavorful. I had the lamb shank with polenta. The lamb was so tender and flavorful and the polenta silky. My friend had the grilled chicken if I’m not mistaken and we shared the peanut butter chocolate chip ice cream for dessert.
Can’t get enough of this place
Fantastic farm to table dining with a bit of a French inspired twist.
Everything was plated well and tasted fantastic. Highly recommend going earlier in the evening as the restaurant only has so much of certain dishes and they will run out!
Menu changes frequently with what's fresh, so there's always something new to try.
We came here to celebrate a beautiful birthday dinner. Arrived a little early to our reservation, but they seated us immediately. First impressions, a super beautiful and rustic looking interior with an old-fashioned feel. The menu was fantastic with all farm to table options that change daily. There’s so many yummy options to choose from and plenty of choice for vegetarian and meat lovers. For the menu tonight we opted for the focaccia with olive oil and balsamic, the skirt steak with fresh veggies and the zucchini and couscous dish. Everything including the grapefruit bourbon cocktail was killer so much flavor. Ended with an espresso torte for dessert that was so fudgy and decadent. One of the only places in the city I’d give out five stars this easily, best spot for upscale food in east Nash.
The original East Nashville. The standard all other restaurants here aspire to meet. The classic that balances innovation and nostalgia like no one else. You really can't say enough good things about Margot. Rustic French cuisine with a little southern flair the menu changes almost nightly and I refuse to believe that you can find anything on it not well prepared thoughtfully sourced and beautifully plated. I in particular love their fish dishes and anytime they have duck it's a must try. Excellent soups like a recent mushroom and lemon offering complement fresh salads like snap peas strawberry beans and feta. Pork chops and steaks also feature frequently. Finally a lovely desert program with a dedicated pastry chef helps round out the meal alongside a coffee or port. The cocktails don't get alot of love overshadowed by the extensive wine selection but they really have an excellent bar program that compliments dishes like no other restaurant on the east side. Servers are super friendly and knowledgeable. The kitchen is fast despite being so small and the seating is comfortable and intimate. I adore the little two tops lining the 2nd floor. To top it all off the prices are really decent for the quality and type of restaurant you could spend almost as much over at bartaco for a much less intimate and lesser menu. Margot is an excellent date night location or for a small group of friends. You are in the heart of 5 points so there are some paid lots or you might get lucky with free street parking. The location only adds to the charm since after your excellent meal you can grab a night cap at one of the local bars.
If you're looking for a unique dining experience in Nashville, look no further than Margot.. every dish was beautifully put together, combining locally sourced ingredients to perfection.. The menu changes often, so it's tough to recommend one specific dish, but they were all delicious.. the service was attentive and friendly and we left very satisfied! 😋
Margot Cafe & Bar was good. We were able to get a table. The server knew the menu, and he made some good recommendations. The prices were a bit higher, but the overall experience was good.
Fantastic. Food was delicious. The dessert was incredible. It’s only going to be in menu for limited time. They use fresh ingredients and what’s in season. The drinks you ordered out of the bar took a long time. Shout out to Jada. Thank you!
Incredible! Reminded so much of dining in NYC. Everything was delicious but we especially enjoyed the pumpkin bisque, steak and toasted almond coconut ice cream. Very accommodating to gluten free needs. The fryer is shared, but I was able to have multiple options for each course and all but one option of the main! We love the changing menu and can’t wait to come back and see what else the chef comes up with!
Such an amazing restaurant, delicious food, wonderful service. The menu changes every night and it’s always so consistent and scrumptious! Margot is one of the best chefs I’ve had the privilege of meeting. A must try in Nashville for sure 12/10.
Over all GREAT place to eat. Everything was good, Service was above par, staff worked well together. The meal was the best, fresh, done to perfection. They also paid attention to dietary needs. Will definitely be back.
Omg, what a hidden gem. This place is a farm to table restaurant and then changes every day. The service was great. I had a waiter that was a comedian and had the best service.
I tried fried rabbit for the first time. The rabbit was so juicy and crispy. As an appetizer I had Prosciutto with blistered shishito peppers.
This is a French restaurant with a southern influence.
Upset at myself for not trying Margot sooner!! What a lovely place all around. My husband and I came here to celebrate our anniversary and our meal was absolutely perfect. The service was also top notch. This is certainly the first of many more visits here.
This was such a surprise in our Nashville trip! The restaurant was so cute and very quaint and cozy with an upstairs loft dining room and main floor dining room. The menu was ever changing and delicious. The staff was the nicest and so efficient. I could totally see myself here again for a date night or girls night out.
Wonderful restaurant with a phenomenal executive chef. Everything on the menu is amazing!
We had reservations for Sunday Brunch this past weekend. The atmosphere in the place was fantastic. Everyone was extremely friendly. Our servers were very attentive and had great advice and knowledge of their dishes. The food was delicious. We tried just about a little of everything. DO NOT skip the house GooGoo Cluster. We are going back on the morning we leave town for the pancakes.
Easily one of my favorite new restaurants in Nashville. Service was superb, the bread with olive oil and balsamic was absolutely to die for, the carrot soup was rich and perfectly balanced, and the chicken and grits were perfectly cooked. And one of the best cheesecakes I’ve had. This is a no brainer must try restaurant.
Margot’s reminded me of a quaint European cafe. It’s small and charming and you can actually have a conversation without yelling! The service was excellent as was the food. Nice wine and drink menu along with a bar if you want to go in for a drink before dinner.
There were six of us and from beginning to end we were there about 2 and a half hours. The menu changes daily and all the options sounded wonderful. With six of us we all got to taste a variety on the menu from the starters, entrees and desserts. Wow! They were all delicious and so fresh. The housemade potato chips and aioli were my favorite starter, but they were all very good. Definitely get the bread too! The lettuce in the salad was so incredibly fresh and the goat cheese melted in your mouth. For my entree I had the pan roasted chicken and it was very flavorful and juicy, but the sauce stole the show imho. Could have had a bowl of the creamy horseradish sauce. Yummy! Of course dinner wouldn’t be complete without dessert. Nothing needs to be said here as they were all fantastic! I was slightly partial to the bread pudding:)
There is a patio area that was heated and must be great in the summer time. Paid parking is available across the street or if you are lucky you might be able to find street parking. Word of caution, in the paid lot be careful of the time as the car next to us got the boot!
Definitely recommend Margot’s and am looking forward to the next visit to see what is on the menu!
The food was delicious. The service was impeccable. I've never been to a restaurant that runs so smoothly and efficiently. Yes, it is on the higher end as far as price but it is absolutely worth it here.
