Top tier Nashville restaurant that I feel gets left out of many best of lists in favor of newer trendy places. The location is a historic blacksmith shop and is tastefully appointed. For the holidays especially Christmas its more like Christmas blew up inside with decorations everywhere. The patio bar and restaurant tables all offer excellent seating options for intimate dates or mid sized parties. The food is creative with a menu that changes every six months or so. We had an excellent halibut that was crispy outside and tender inside complemented with fennel and oranges in a lemon butter sauce. Lamb house made gnocchi dumplings and butternut squash provided a warm savory textual sensation. You must get the bread. The house bread is 9 dollars but worth it. This is the best bread of any restaurant in Nashville if you love a yeasty bread like me. Reminds me of the old Quincy steak house rolls my grandmother used to squirrel away in her purse. Service is super friendly and they have a good cocktail program if a little less creative than other places. I did particularly like the spicy rum concoction that the bartender was kind enough to ask about spice preferences on. Prices are high though on par with other steak houses and upscale restaurants. Parking is limited so recommend getting a ride if possible.

Went here for a date night during their Christmas season and it absolutely wonderful! The happy hour specials are great, we had a couple of cocktails, the whipped feta, scallops and potatoes. All were delicious and a great portion size! We also had the tagliatelle pasta dish and it was amazing!

First location and building. Location was good, parking was okay but can be a challenge if there is a baseball game or weekend. We came on a Thursday at 6:30 and the restaurant was busy but not packed. Quickly sat down for 8 (had reservation) and the table was already set up with water in the cups. The waitress from start to finish was the best - on top of everything and managed separation between courses well. The atmosphere was great in a cool building. Food. Across 8 of us we had five - Shrimp and Grits, Salmon, Lamb Gnocchi, Tenderloin and Pork Chops.. salmon was okay - nothing to write home about. Shrimp and Grits were done well and the grits were actually very well done. Lamb gnocchi was amazing, very filling, rich with tons of flavor. Tenderloin was solid and made well. The big hit was the Pork Chops - they were sampled but the table for at least a bite and everyone really enjoyed how they were cooked and the tenderness of the meat plus the seasoning was perfect. Potato salad was uniquely amazing and tons of food on the plate. Overall - solid place. Group of 8 loved the evening and food.

Geist is easily becoming one of my favorite restaurants in Nashville. The food is always amazing, flavor 10/10, and so picturesque. Drinks are top notch. Wine list is lovely. I’m never disappointed- I’m consistently blown away every time I’ve come. The atmosphere is also so trendy yet historic. I couldn’t say enough good things about this place. And our drinks ran a little late while we were there for my moms birthday - they comped us an amuse bouche of these outrageous arancini balls, along with one of the drinks. That was incredibly kind. Wait staff is always polite and knowledgeable. Just don’t hesitate and go! One thing to keep in mind is this is the south - things take a little longer and are not as expedient as other places. So maybe for some the service could be considered slow - however I think it’s perfect. People in general need to have some patience.

Wow, just wow. First of all, saw their Christmas decor pop up on Instagram - was so impressed we made a reservation the same day! It was beyond worth it . This may be the longest review I've ever written. In a nutshell, it's worth every penny, go and try everything. We tried pork belly, scallops, carrots, marble potatoes, and all three desserts. Don't get the bread pudding - everything else amazing. Full breakdown below :) Started off with a lovely glass of champagne that was perfect and set the tone. Our reservation was at 9pm and we were seated withing five minutes of that. Our server Zachary was pleasant attentive and made excellent recommendations. The decor went above and beyond- whoever staged this, can I hire you for my home! Each section was unique, eye-catching and Instagramable. Delivered all the Christmas feels I needed. SMAll PLATES We ordered small plates as soon as we Sat down and they arrived very promptly and presented beautifully: pork belly and scallops. O.M.G. I have never had pork belly cooked to the level of perfection as that dish. The flavors and textures were out of this world. A light crust with a tender center and I literally scraped every last bit of the sauce and sprouts off the plate. The scallops followed and absolutely blew my mind. Hands down the best scallops I've ever had. Perfect crust with melt perfection in each bite, again the sauce and flavor pallette was exceptional. Scraped the plate ;). ADDITIONAL SMALL PLATES These were so good we couldn't even look at entrees. We ordered another pork belly, the carrots, and the marble potatoes. The carrots had a tahini yogurt glaze that was to die for. I am personally not a big potato person but these smelled amazing and had a great crunchy skin and soft inside , very tasty. I ate a couple of them ( which is saying a lot for me ;)! All plates were cleaned . DESSERT We finished with dessert because, you must! Zachary gave an excellent rundown of each dessert that was spot on. I hate chocolate so I was between the sweet potato bread pudding and the apple pie cheesecake. We ordered the cheesecake, when it arrived, Zachary surprised us with the other desserts to try and absolutely made my night! Because every dish had been so spectacular I tried the hazelnut chocolate torte.... I was impressed with the layers and quality ( still not a chocolate fan but literally have not willingly tasted a chocolate dessert in over a decade so kudos chef!) For the record, it blew my partners mind! I watched the expression as he tasted each layer- he was so sho ked how decadent it was. Gold star. Sweet potato Bread pudding is the only item I would not recommend. The taste was fairly bland , especially against all the other amazing dishes. Texture was good- like a moist cornbread, but it was bland overall and had sweet potato chips garnished on top that didn't blend with the flavor of the dish. I was missing a stronger sweet potato flavor or maybe a sweet glaze/ maple or cinnamon perhaps? Apple pie cheesecake was excellent sweet but not a fake sweet. The cheesecake was almost heavy mousse like- a perfect texture! The shortcake crust was the perfect amount of crumble and sweet . The apple spices were infused into the cheesecake not just the apple pie filling . And spices were warm and fall vibes- more than just cinnamon which I really appreciated. Perfect sweet but not too sweet option. RECAP Beyond impressed from start to finish, ambiance, decor, menu, flavors, service. This checks all the boxes and immediately made me want to schedule our next meal - I have to see how the chef interprets brunch !! Plus I need to try the pastas and entree options. Hands down my favorite restaurant. You gave me more than an amazing meal, this was an immersive experience that left me wanting more.

Wow what a magical evening! The decorating alone is worth it. The food knocked it out of the park. Great service and immaculate vibes.

Awesome atmosphere with a diverse history. Had the duck and it was tender and well cooked. Others at my table had the trout which was highly complimented and the pork chop which was a huge portion. Had several deserts that were of high quality and rich.

The restaurant was dressed beautifully for Christmas! The food was too good and we forgot to take a picture. I split the cavatelli pasta and salmon. Both were DELICIOUS!

Came here in a Sunday night and had a wonderful experience. The vintage vibe of the building was warm and inviting. Our server, Keira, was personable and attentive, and last but certainly not least. the food and drinks were excellent! Had the spaghetti which sounds simple but is really more like a shrimp scampi style dish and was one of the best plates I had on my trip to Nashville. The House Bread was also a mildly billed dish that packed a memorable and savory punch of flavor!

I've been here a few times and consistently had a good experience. One of the best atmospheres in the downtown Nashville area. Service is solid and the food is always great. Highly recommend bellying up to the bar (service at the bar is exceptional) if you're in Germantown and looking for something a little bit nicer to sit and have a drink. They have a good deal on cocktails during happy hour too! If you happen to be around during the holiday season, their decorating is 10/10.

Our dinner was perfect. We were guided on chef recommendations from what to drink and what paired well with it. The whipped feta appetizer was incredible; we were scraping the bowl to finish it. My husband had the beef medallion and I had the Halibut. Both were out of this world. We finished with the champagne panacotta which was delicious and not overly sweet. We will definitely be revisiting soon.

We came to Nashville for a bachelorette and came to Geist for dinner and drinks. It was the most amazing night. The food was to die for and the service was exceptional. I cannot stress enough how great our experience was! Zach provided the most amazing service, was friendly attentive and allowed us to celebrate without any concerns. Thank you so much.

Beet salad and mimosas are a must here. The syrup for the eagle is pure molasses so it’s strong. Service was great and the place is super cute. Make a reservation !!!

Geist was a pleasant surprise! We had no expectations whatsoever when we chose to eat here, but we wanted to try something different with our clients who flew into Nashville from California. The food and drinks were excellent and we absolutely loved the atmosphere. We were sat in the covered patio area right next to a huge fireplace with a roaring fire. My wife loves herself a good fire, so she was immediately hooked! The food is a bit pricy, but well worth it! Definitely a place we will go back to again!

Started the day off on our Valentines date here with brunch. I got the banana bread French toast. My husband got the cinnamon roll. Both were great. Large portions. We could have just shared 1.

Delicious and creative food options. Beautiful decor and friendly staff. My family and I went to Geist for brunch and it was fantastic. The food was delicious and the cocktails especially were unique, refreshing, and well mixed. Highly recommend. FYI ... the cinnamon roll is HUGE! Definitely need 4+ people to tackle it.
