Saw this place on Phantom Gourmet about a year ago and have been coming back ever since. We drive over an hour to get and every time its 100% worth it. There is often a wait (as most good restaurants have) but we usually wait even longer for Ryann who is absolutely fantastic. I recommend this place to everyone and anyone that I know that will be in the New Bedford area!! Get the BBQ/Buffalo twist tenders. The expresso martinis don’t disappoint either...
Excellent food, staff, and atmosphere. Was recommended by local shop owners, my family and I were impressed. Thank you for the great meal and experience, will definitely be back when in the area. Highly recommended, a must when in New Bedford!
Very relaxed and casual atmosphere with incredible food! Fish chowder, Syrian nachos, Portuguese calamari, homemade kettle chips, Florentine scallops were top notch...but the winning dish...Porter baked scallops!!
I took my wife to dinner at Freestones and have to say the food was magnificent. The appetizers we had to start was the calamari and feta bruschetta. My wife had the fish and chip and I had the shrimp scampi. The shrimp scampi was honestly the best that I have ever had. I highly recommend trying Freestones if you are ever in the New Bedford area.
Love this place!! Deff one of my favorites I moved to RI but it's always worth the drive ... great food and an awesome waitresses, Friday and Saturday ladies are my fav 😁
Went last night for a date dinner with my wife, before a show at the Z. We both loved our meals, I had the Portuguese tips with the best cole-slaw I have had at a restaurant, my wife chose the Salmon cake Cesar salad. The prices were average. Only negative that I have is, asked for glass of water and waitress forgot about it, had to get up and ask hostess. We have never had a bad meal at Freestones! Will be back again.
Friendly staff and excellent food and drinks! Pasta with calamari and pasta primavera with chicken. 👍👍👍👍👍
Great lunch excellent staff including our waitress Chelsea. Everybody took care of us and the food was excellent and affordable for lunch
Service was fast and food was perfect. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Great food great service awesome places to eat would recommend you go try it.
We went for lunch on a Friday. Place was not busy. Got seated immediately. Cool little restaurant downtown with interesting ambiance. Drinks are great! I recommend the compassion martini. Best part was the food. Fresh fresh fresh. And the waitstaff was so attentive. She was super friendly and careful about my food allergy.
C'mon man French Onion Soup and Syrian Nachos with the secret red sauce - I just know it's not ketchup with red pepper flakes but it's so good when you smear the red sauce on top and then put the layer of sour cream, all with the butter knife. I haven't ordered anything else in decades. I mean I'm sure everything else is good. Their drink menu is like a mad scientist got a hold of it - Spicy Sweet Margarita was niiiice.

Great food & Service. Reasonable prices for big plates of food. Our waitress was nice to meet and a wonderful server. Will be returning!
Food was good standard pub grub and the building and location (near the whaling museum) was ideal for a quick lunch. I had the buffalo chicken salad and it had a perfect taste balance between blue cheese, buffalo, and dressing. Service was a little slow but friendly.
It is a short walk away from Whaling Museum. We ordered Portuguese style calamari, it was delicious!! I loved the flavors! I also enjoyed a Cesar salad with a perfect bowl of fish chowder. I can't wait to visit again!
The fish chowder, French onion soup, stuffed baked cod and the chocolate molten cake (add vanilla ice cream) were all delicious and very satisfying.
We always enjoy our time at Freestone's! Meals are always great and a little bit different every time!
