The food was pretty good! You can tell they make the tortillas themselves, because they are soft, fluffy, and warm. The beans also had good flavor to them, and the cheese was decent. I can tell it was at least real cheese. They give you free chips and salsa, and the chips were well-seasoned. The salsa was not chunky, it was the smoother variety, like a sauce. I did order their queso, but $5 for that tiny cup that doesn't get refilled is just too expensive, so I would not recommend ordering that. The queso itself was alright, but nothing special- I would liken it to Velveeta and Rotel. :/
Another not so great thing was that it was confusing as to whether we should pay at the counter or wait until the server comes and gets the card. We ended up just paying at the counter because we were waiting for kind of a long time. Also only got like 1 refill on the chips and salsa and drinks, so meh on the slow service. I would go back, but I would probably go through the drive through for some quick tacos.
Good atmosphere to sit and have some great food with our food.
During “a big freeze” and on our way to Austin for a volleyball tournament, we were hoping to stop at Willie’s but they were closed. Las Palapas was open, although short staffed. Emory was our server and did it all: made our amazing margaritas, memorized our order and paid great attention to us. The food was outstanding. So fresh and tasty. Really glad Willie’s was closed.
Excellent service. Delicious food, great portions and all for an affordable price!
