It was my first dining experience. I Loved the menu options. A plethera of food choices. Televisions to keep you busy while your food was prepared. The waitress could have been more attentive however. Also she was in middle of helping me and then stepped away mid service. Disappointing. Her tip would have been bigger had she even brought my dessert more expediently. A LONG time to wait. I felt forgotten a little. Other than that I liked the relaxing environment and the food portions were enough for two meals. Awesome! I will return to try the many other superb food options.

This restaurant is a big surprise to anyone who visits. You'll see when you sit down in the friendly environment and glance at your menu its not fancy or expensive. The surprise is how delicious the food is. It may not be a fancy chef style food however theres greatness in the ownership and a commitment to pleasing you, Joe Customer! The food is straight forward, items you know and are familiar with. Theres something for everyone, but the care and quality comes through in your meal. If you had a not so great experience once, let the manager or owner know, be kind, you dont have to give up on a place if one time something wasnt right. Thats what managers do, they make right whatever was wrong.
This is a really nice eatery, reminiscent of our N.J. diners. My only criticism would be is to put a few more items on the menu that are super popular, one being a hot roast turkey with stuffing plate. Its one huge seller and one that I would find myself coming more often for. Anyway, I say try it, the food is on the money delicious!!! Waitstaff fantastic!!!
I've been here several times to eat and the food is always fabulous... but this place holds a lot more value to me as it was my dad's favorite place to eat. My dad passed away several weeks ago and many employees came to the funeral home to pay respects to him as he and my mom were frequent, loyal customers.
We will never forget the kindness this establishment extended to our family at such a difficult time. They're more than just a great place to eat���
Hugger-Mugger has wonderful food. Was there with family and it was a wonderful experience. We had breakfast.
The waitress was so good with my great granddaughter who is 2 years old.
They have the most wonderful hot roast beef. mmmmm

I had appetizer combo.. was fried just right, best ranch dressing hands down, my friends had chix salad, steak salad, and chicken parm, they were geeat they gave her fried chix instead of grilled chix just as she requested.. so it was greatfood,great times, with great ppl.
We lived here going on 2 years. I have always wanted to try eating there and its not too far from home so we decided to give it a try. We went tonight. I was hoping for a wonderful experience since there are many good reviews. My husband is a chef and he is picky. He is often disappointed by restaurants and items "coming out of a can". We were greeted with smiles and loved that is was busy and welcoming. We were placed at a well sized booth which was comfortable. Our waitress was patient with us as we looked over the menu for a bit trying to decided what we wanted to order. Man Oh Man!!! So many choices and it all looked so good. We have been searching for a good wing place since we moved to west pa. We LOVED everything that we ordered. My family was loving it.... every single bite!!!! We found our new -going to visit on a regular- go to when I am tired and don't want to cook restaurant <3 Oh and my son wanted me to write that he liked it too LOL Next time I hope we can try dessert lol
Love going at for breakfast. Portions a huge and prices are great. Large menu selections for all times of the day but if you are looking for a gourmet meal this is not your place. More like a homecooked foods like burgers, salads, meatloaf etc. never had a been disappointed in the food and the service has been excellent!
I recently moved back to pa from Oklahoma and have been in New Castle on business for about a month now. This is the first place that has displayed that down-home, friendly attitude that I got so used to in Oklahoma. The girls that work there make you feel welcome and are so helpful that they even gave me directions on how to get there! The food was good family cooking at a very reasonable price. I'm actually looking forward to returning to Hugger-Mugger throughout the duration of my stay! The name might sound funny but the service, quality, and price are definitely not!
Good food, awesome service. Just moved to New Castle. Ate dinner here tonight. Young waitress, Deanna, was excellent! Food very reasonably priced. Had the BLT burger on texas toast with fries and a slice of The Cheesecake Factory cheesecake. My husband had the fish sandwich with curly fires and a bowl of cheddar broccoli soup. It was all good and total bill was less than $20.00!!! Will go back to try other items on the large variety menu.

Stupid Name, Decent Food, Great Prices. When this place first opened, i was skeptical to go because of the TERRIBLE name and the stupid picture of the lighthouse??? I dont understand the sales pitch. Seriously its named after a state of confusion, or a secret. And it sounds like a mentally challenge rapist looter. Eventually i caved and tried it, because of the reputation that it had built for itself. My dining experience was pretty enjoyable, our waitress was an older woman, who was dressed as if she was in a diner... which basically is what this is. It is a diner in a restaurant setting. The menu isnt very broad, but its reliable, and consistent. My food is always good. Nothing outstanding but okay. However, for the price, that is the Great part. Everything is so cheap it makes up for the lackluster food. For anyone trying to squeeze a dollar out of a dime, and wants a decent meal. Hugger Mugger is a good place to go. I believe thats what keeps them alive. Oh yeah, the pie is really good. Its a great place to meet somebody for coffee and a cheap lunch or dinner
I eat a Hugger Mugger on a regular basis, I highly enjoy the philly steak sub, I get it on most visit, but the burgers are good also. The service is usually outstanding, I take my 2 1/2 year old daughter and she loves their food, and the staff always go out of their way to talk to her and give her a small bag of cookies to take home. I would recomend Hugger Mugger to anybody who wants a good meal at a fair price.
Great meal deals like Monday is burger day you get any burger on menu with fries and drink for $5.50
We wanted to find a place to stop to eat before we went to Hill view Manor for the tour. I’m glad I chose this place because it turned out to be fantastic. It’s spacious and cozy with a very large parking lot. The food was delicious and the staff was great. I ordered the mini quesadilla salad. When she brought it out I was so surprised at how large the salad was I thought they made a mistake. But nope she said that is the mini. Lots of food. Highly recommend this place. We all enjoyed our food. BONUS: Served on Fiestaware💃🏻
All of the food was amazing!! They have such a wide variety of food to choose from. The service was impeccable. All of the waitresses are very pleasant and polite. Our food came out in a quick and timely manner and was hot and fresh. The atmosphere is quite and laid back and definitely family friendly. A wonderful place to go for good food and a relaxing time.
Was recommended by a local. As we were lead to our seats, I was looking at everyones food. Looked amazing. We both had the open faced roast beef sandwich. Great flavor, perfect portion. Highly recommended.
We moved to the New Castle area 2 years ago and we have made several trips to this place! The food is fantastic, the place is clean, and the staff is friendly and courteous. Not to mention the best Belgian waffles around! Highly recommend anyone reading this to stop in. You will not be disappointed! ❤
