We stopped here on a beautiful, sunny June day after a 1.5 ride on the Hardy Boat Cruise line to see the puffins. We were hungry and heard from a woman who worked at the Hardy Boat dock that the food was good, and that her son was a waiter there. What a great spot! We arrived about 1:30pm, and walked right in. My husband and I had an Allagash White, and he had a cup of clam chowder & grilled haddock sandwich, and I had the fresh haddock tacos. Wow. All were delicious, and so fresh and healthy. It was exactly what we needed after being out on the water - a relaxing spot with delicious food and beverage - and a clean restroom as well. The service was great, and we'd definitely come back next time we are on the Pemaquid Peninsula.

The only restaurant open in the area, we almost didn’t go. What a shame that would have been! I’ve been here before, 7 years ago. I think it was under different ownership because this time was absolutely blissful and very enjoyable. My Caesar salad and salmon was delicious and my dining partner had the fish and chips and was pleasantly impressed by it! The absolute deal maker was the Lobster and artichoke dip with home made chips! OMG, I think it could be a beverage, I used it as a compliment to everything else we had! Service was courteous, efficient and professional. Fantastic!

I dined at the Contented Sole today for lunch with my family. We enjoyed the fish tacos + fish sandwich very much! We’ve been here many times and have always had a great time sitting on the deck. It can be helpful to make reservations, as it gets busy during the summer!

Loved this little gem! We went to see the pemaquid point lighthouse and this was nearby. Tables on the dock and inside. Beautiful view of the bay all around. Great food and drink served with a smile.

Very good food, very fresh. Spot-on Caesar salad. Indoor as well as open air on the pier. Very scenic location although remote. Well worth the excursion to find it

Absolutely delicious, brilliant location, great service. The dirty fries or whatever they're called were incredible, my mouth is watering just thinking about them! The brussel sprouts app was also insanely good. And I had the fish tacos, which were stellar. Overall, top notch. LOVED IT.

Family dinner was wonderful. We had a slight wait to sit on the pier but it was worth it. We got to watch a gorgeous Maine sunset while enjoying the *amazing* melt-in-your-mouth food. The clam chowder was creamy and delicious. Lobster and fish tacos were heaven. Clam basket was perfect. Aside from the food and sunset, the other star of the show was our fabulous waitress Sarah, who made us feel like old friends. She was so genuine and attentive. If I had to find criticism, it would be that the hostess wasn’t very welcoming (I noticed warmth toward the younger people in our party and coldness toward the older) and that the bathrooms are not marked at all, causing confusion for several patrons.

Stopped in to have a lunch before heading out to see the Atlantic Puffins on a cruise. This restaurant is right on the water. You can watch all the boat traffic as you enjoy your meal. Family friendly with a great menu. They have seating indoors and out. The fish tacos were amazing. A must to get the locally grown oysters. So delicious.

Unexpected treasure on a cove with nautical chic interior. Exterior is rather drab, whilst interior is bright & lovely. Mixture of spaces for more formal vs picnic table decor. Bar is reminiscent of a soda fountain. Large outdoor pier for seating too. Service was quick & courteous. Good selection of beer. Great menu selection. Delicious 🦞 🌮 **Also the Xeljanz XR pharmaceutical TV advert was filmed there. (just spotted this)

Great spot right on the water. One of the few places open on a Wednesday night right after labor day- and thankful we found them!! Got a reservation (do that!!) and the 4 of us were seated inside (just fine on a cooler night!) Bar area was loud- but that's my only negative. Fish and chips for all at our table- fresh, lightly battered and perfect portions. Drinks were great (including a non alcoholic beer choice) Our server Corey was attentive and friendly (and suggestions were great!)

We went here for dinner and drinks with relatives. We had reservations but table was not immediately ready but within minutes the one we were standing in front of became available. The restaurant had nice views of the water inside and also offers outdoor seating. They have picnic tables inside. When we were there it was extremely loud. Not conducive to conversing with the people at your table. With that being said, it was very stimulating and alive with sounds of people enjoying themselves. They had a small band playing which was also very enjoyable. Everybody seemed to be having a good time. Everybody at our table enjoyed their food. The worst thing about this place was when you leave, you walk out the door into a pitch black parking area. Not one single light to be found. The boat launch is also in that parking lot so I can't even imagine that some night someone may end up in the water. Everybody that left when we did was freaking out. It was a bit of a walk to our car and unless you use the light in you cell phone You will never find your car. That might be something they want to address.

Amazing! Mouth watering! Special! Those are some of the main things that come to mind every time we eat here. We try to come a couple times during our visits to Maine and have never been disappointed. Chef Florin is a master at his craft and can turn food into something special. Craving a creamy and delicious clam chowder- they have it, what about a tender and succulent steamed lobster- check, maybe something different like a crispy duck fat pizza- oh man will you be blown away. When planning our wedding reception we knew there was no better place to go. Owners Warren and Beth are an amazing team and with very little direction from me (being out of state) they created the wedding of our dreams. In fact a year later and family and friends STILL rave about the amazing food and cocktails served. Every appetizer came out hot and delicious (clam grilled cheese and lobster mac and cheese still haunt my dreams) and the lobster bake for 70 people was served perfectly which can be incredibly difficult to serve that many people at the same time and have the quality remain excellent. I can't wait to see Warren, Beth and Chef Florin again this summer, my mouth is practically watering just thinking about it.

My husband and I operated a Waldoboro B&B for years. We didn't get out much. Our friends who operated a vintage diner in Gardiner had been visiting and posting about The Contented Sole for the past few summers. We tend to follow their recommendations. However,we couldn't get reservations with our limited days off until now! We were so fortunate to get the perfect table when my 94 year old Mom visited us recently. Our server was energetic and the hostess is so very accommodating and down to earth. We could NOT have asked for a better night out with our party of 5. Mom who traveled up from her assisted living campus in Florida, was treated to a table with a Maine sunset like the ones she loved when she lived here. She was amazed by the plentiful salad and the lobster roll was the best. My brother loved the blackend Brussel sprouts and prosciutto pizza. My husband devoured the tender juicy Korean BBQ Chicken like a starving cave man. My fish tacos were light and I loved the flavors with the sweet soft corn tortillas. I was happy that our server was able to help me decide between the tacos and the BBQ. The tacos were a nice light dinner and I didn't have to take anything home for later. Even my mom cleaned her plate!!!

Food is amazing here. We've had tacos, lobster rolls, Korean BBQ, fish, pizza, salads, etc. and it's all excellent. Service is great and the atmosphere is laid back and friendly. Great views from the dock, and seating is available both on the dock and inside. Definitely a place you can take the kids as well - food options for them as well as things for them to see on dock while waiting.

Had a Haddock Sandwich. The fish was over cooked and a very thin small piece at that. May try here again but I will certainly stay away from the Haddock.

Beautiful location, super friendly service, fantastic food and drinks! Nice family environment, near the coast, great traditional Maine selections - so memorable that we return everytime we visit Maine! I'll definitely visit again! P.S. we also visited during the pandemic and they followed CDC guidelines. We felt very comfortable.
