My husband and I don't get out on date nights much, so when we do, we can only hope to thoroughly enjoy ourselves. And let me start by saying that Tarry Lodge exceeded our expectations. From the melt in your mouth porchetta, the deliciously creamy house made ricotta, to the cooked perfectly hanger steak and amazing soft serve (we had several other dishes too) our stomachs were more than happy. Beyond the food is the service. We were treated very well by our knowledgable server Zachary and checked up on by Howard, the manager. All in all it was a perfect night out and we can't wait to return! If you have not yet tried this restaurant, I recommend you make it a point to go! :)

Fantastic food and service. Would highly recommend anyone to eat here. Couldn't fault any part of the meal especially the dessert. Huge compliments to the chef. I would definitely eat here again if I visit New Haven in the future.

Excellent food, great service. Pasta with mushrooms was outrageously good. Salad with the white bean vinaigrette was surprising good. Truffle, bacon, pizza was great. It had a sunny side egg in the middle. Great for crust dipping. Good times!

This is such an awesome restaurant, the food is unique, loved the pizza which had pistachios! Everything from salads to desserts is awesome, considering that there are zillion good Italian restaurants, I would still visit this one again and again! The pizza maker, Matt was wonderful as well!

Went here for brunch on Saturday and then for dinner today. I highly recommend Tarry Lodge. The food is amazing and I love their specials. Tonight we had the gnocchi as an appetizer and everyone thoroughly enjoyed. I had the quail for dinner, and the flavors were amazing. My family was a tad hesitant to try the olive oil soft serve, but ended up thankful we tried the twist. As for the wine, there was no riesling I could order by the glass, but the waitress recommended another wine which I enjoyed. She was very knowledgeable and pleasant. This is a great place for family, friends, or dates.

You judge a resturant by three things FOOD- does it have fresh ingredients ? Have distinct flavor ? Is it homemade ? The cavatellis were cooked perfect, Lamberti’s sausage and homemade sauce unbelievable ! The pork meatballs melted in your mouth SERVICE - is the wait staff meeting your needs? Do they have knowledge of menu and do they pay attention to the details but at the same time not being overbearing while you eat ? Adrienne was our waitress. She not only made you feel like family eating here but her extensive knowledge of the menu and insight of the ingredients of the dishes were impressive. Her attentiveness while we were eating was spot on! Ambience - Does the resturant decor and ambiance match the theme and economics of the resturant ? Tarry Lodge was a quaint little resturant that matched the outing of the night. The items on the menu offered a wide variety for everyone’s price range

Food was delicious and plated attractively. Service was efficient and pleasant. Prices were fair. Like to see more traditional Italian options on the menu. Cant wait to return.

This is a food lovers selection! The unique combinations of flavors is incredible. Very friendly staff. They make their own blend of soft serve vanilla which has a hint of salt and caramel. .....and toppings like olive oil and a thick sweet balsamic. If you are vising Yale University this is a must stop.

Lovely service and wonderful, hearty food. Loved the bolognese tagliatelle although it got very rich after some time. Great steamed mussels appetizer and truffle pizza as well.

Went for a birthday and loved everything we ordered. For appetizers we got goat cheese pizza and fungi pizza, both excellent. The pizza dishes were all on our taste and the octopus delicious. Service was on point and very friendly. Will be back.

This restaurant is excellent; the food is well made and the service is friendly and informal but attentive. We arrived for our 7:45 reservation and were told we would have to wait a bit; it was 8:15 before we sat down. They were very apologetic and gave us a free pizza appetizer to make up for it, which was very kind of them. The place was packed, and it was easy to see why, the food is great, with only a few off notes. The first is the wine list, which is nearly all Italian, and quite nice, but overpriced. The other issues: I ordered the hanger steak which was prepared very well (it's a tricky cut of meat, so kudos) but came out kind of cold, it had obviously been sitting for a bit. We also ordered a side of shishito peppers that was acknowledged by our server but never showed up at our table, or on the bill, so I think she just forgot. Everything else, however, was fantastic; the branzino was amazing, with brown butter fried capers that were perfect with the fish, and the duck breast was cooked perfectly - I have had a lot of duck and this was one of the best I've had. Go to this place!
