The service and wings were mediocre but the outdoor seating was a nice plus even though the patio was very messy and needed a really good cleanup. They were slow to remove empty glasses and the waitress double orders our drinks because she forgot she ordered them
and ordered them again. The New Englander IPA was good. All in all we had a good time with family.

The waitress was great, but the food is so incredibly mediocre at this place, I would skip it entirely and go to one of the many restaurants in new haven. I got the Tuscan chicken sandwich. The chicken was so bland, I feel like the chef might've forgotten to add some salt to it. The fries that came with it were given in a generous amount, but they weren't very impressive either.
Beyond Me
I heard so many good things about this place, I had to check it out! It was well worth every dime!! It's a rather casual and intimate atmosphere! Very clean bar and visually appealing! The bartender and servers were very helpful and polite! I started with a Strawberry Mojito which was delicious! We started with the sweet and spicy wings. General Tso's on side and Buffalo on the other. The chicken was boneless, tender and full of flavor! Fried to perfection I may add. My bf had Lobster Bisque..we shared everything! The bisque had the perfect amount of sherry, creamy and delicious. The only complaint is the lack of lobster in the bisque. As our entrees we had Seafood pot pie and London Broil w/sides! Both great choices. We order half order of pot pit and full of London broil. Delicious! Plenty of seafood, tender, fresh, buttery and seasoned to perfection! London broil was cooked just to my specifications and the glaze and mushrooms were phenomenal. Great portions! Even the mashed potatoes, rice pilaf and salad were tasty!! Over all a great place with amazing food!! Only issue is I had to have them reheat my meal it was not served as hot as it should have been! Otherwise great experience!! We will be back!!

Had lunch there. The place has an average looking dining room but the outdoor seating was pleasant and pet friendly. My grilled chicken sandwich looked delicious but the chicken was a bit hard to chew and still cool on the inside. Frozen, precooked?? And overall the sandwich lacked flavor. The side of onion rings was excellent and plentiful. Although the sandwich had it's faults, I like the place with it's outdoor patio pleasant casual feel and friendly staff. I would return.

Decades of giving this place a chance bc I appreciate the “design your own salad”
Positives: The food comes as ordered, proving the kitchen withstood the test of multiple owners.
Negatives:
The bathroom had an aged, empty & quite broken soap dispenser with 2 empty paper towel dispensers.
Leaving customers no way to wash their hands.
MORE importantly how are the employees expected to do the same?
When this was pointed out a man brought hand sanitizing gel into the bathroom 🤷♀️
The sweet young server, while polite, was not attentive. She was of the age that this is very forgivable but she certainly will not receive training from the absent management here.
I think I’m giving up this time 😔

Great food. Great down to earth owner. Liked their Chicken two ways, Juicy burgers, large oversized customizable salads, homemade potato chips, almost everything on the menu.

Pretty average, as expected. Generally, everything is pretty salty and heavy handed with sauce. Side salad was laughable, and waffle fries were super salty. The chicken in the Tuscan chicken sandwich was well cooked and tender, though it was overdressed.
My friend had the veggie burger, and she said it didn’t leave much of an impression. Just an average place to come if you run out of options.

We arrived at 8pm. It was not especially busy so we start down. The waitress greeted us and things went downhill from there (other than the waitress, who I felt bad for). We ordered our food and (a burger and a chicken breast - not crazy). The burger came out first, after 9:30 (yes, an hour and a half wait for a burger), but no chicken. It was completely room temp. The waitress took it back and, after another 20 minutes, came back out with burger and chicken, apologizing that they made the wrong size and they would bring out another half (we ordered full size). We didn’t need the other half because the food tasted so bad that we didn’t eat it anyway. We heard the poor waitresses apologize to table after table as food went back or as food was brought out at wildly different times. We asked to speak with the manager, who relayed the message that he was busy and would be out when he could. We didn’t wait for him because we had already been there for over 2 hours without a decent meal. We went elsewhere.

Steak was good! Nice outdoor space to relax. Fast service and patio was almost full but not too crowded. Will have to come back again next time.

About the first date. Holy cow! She was all I could have hoped for, and more! Aside from amazing physical beauty, she was smart, articulate, funny, charming, intriguing, enticing, and the embodiment of a very sexy woman. I was so taken that at one point it was just me and her- the rest of the world faded away and we were floating on a sea of rapture. words cannot convey how blown away I am. I was lost in her essence and I did not want the date to ever end. I truly have met the most amazing woman and I am truly happy - my heart smiles.
The food wasn't bad either- but to be frank I have forgotten what we had. I was completely focused on her- on us..........
Rich Is Pretty Clever
First date. So I have a date with a very attractive woman who embodies my must have deal breakers. She is smart, clever, funny, and charming. I am thrilled at the prospect of taking our first steps together with the hope that finally I have found the elusive needle in the haystack. I know I won't eally remember the food here in years to come, but my hope is that the thrill of first putting my eyes on her will last all of my years.

Avoid - there are better options. I have to imagine that these reviews are skewed by staff. That's the only explanation for such positive reviews going to an establishment that specializes in aggressively-mediocre food served at a high price by awful waitstaff. Like much of the city in which it resides, this place never rises past the merely acceptable but presents and prices itself as if it were something one should feel privileged to experience.

First, the good (limited as it is). The food is not terrible. It's food. It's also one of the few places downtown with outdoor seating. I used to take guests here in nice weather because it's pleasant to sit outside and because you cannot object to their bland, unimaginative food. You won't like your meal. But you won't hate it.

The bad? Oh, let's start with the outdoor seating. Yes, it's nice. Too bad that any semblance of pleasant odor emanating from your food is shoved aside by the smell of rotting garbage should the temperature break the 80-degree mark. Yeah, the dumpster is "hidden" behind a fence in the outdoor dining area. The tables are usually sticky as well, and you can expect a large contingent of bees to join you.

The food? As I have mentioned, extraordinarily mediocre. It's not good, it's not bad; it's food. But it's brutally-overpriced for what it is. The atmosphere? Cramped and far too loud. Their minimalist decor (which I actually like quite a bit) absorbs no sound. Once the tables are full and a few of the more self-important patrons get a few drinks into themselves, it's impossible to have a conversation without raising your voice. Which causes others to raise their voices to be heard, ad nauseam, until it sounds like a cocktail party for the slightly-inebriated hard-of-hearing.

The waitstaff is slow, unprofessional, and rude. This is actually the most offensive attribute of this gastrohovel. If there food were good, the atmosphere enjoyable, or the prices reasonable, this might be tolerable. But on top of everything else, the staff treat the unfortunate patrons as if they are being done a begrudging favor by being served. Time and again I have had waitstaff hang out at the bar and talk to friends or other waitstaff without so much as a menu provided to my table. One time I found one of these lovely ladies phones after she left it at the next table. She accused me of stealing it. I should have hocked it.

If you're looking for pub food, go a few doors down to Prime 16. Their burgers are excellent and they have a much better beer selection. There's simply no comparison between the quality and value, though they do have a limited menu. If you must eat outdoors, try Kelley's (or whatever happens to be there that week) on the corner of Crown and Temple.
