Based on the reviews, we were looking forward to eating at Mamoun’s but the place didn’t meet our expectations. The receptionist was not friendly and directed us to a computer screen to place our take-away order. The portions were disappointingly small for a ME restaurant with smaller pita loaves and small to tiny meat and falafel inside with mostly lettuce as a filling. One of our kids refused to eat their wrap because they ordered chicken but the meat looked like lamb. When we asked we were told it was chicken but we sure couldn’t tell. The humus was a little too liquid. We are more picky than the average patron because we are originally from the ME and know what authentic ME food is like. This however tasted more like food truck food and wasn’t very good.

When I spend $100 (delivery and tip included) on Falafel dinner - I expect it to be really good! Me being Mamoun’s customer for 12 yrs really disappointed.
The main ingredient of Baba Ganouj is eggplant, it was so much tahini and bit of eggplant I hardly tasted the eggplant!
Rice is halfway cooked. Falafel is dry and you can tell they used so much cumin. This is not how you make Falafel.
Bottom line - I’m so dissatisfied and will never order from this place again.

I went here for a lemonade and a dessert. The reason I gave this restaurant 2 stars was because the lemonade was actually good. The customer service however was terrible. When we got there the restaurant was empty. Even though two people were standing behind the counter, we were not acknowledged, no biggie but it would have made the experience easier. we placed an order on the touch screen menu then sat down for a while, realizing no one was moving or making an effort to complete our order I decided to ask when it would be ready. The lady behind the counter was visibly annoyed and gives us a generic “in five minutes” response. After that they started working on the order and we were out of there in almost 15 minutes… for a lemonade, in an empty restaurant. The lemonade was literally right next to them, but they were too busy talking and ignoring customers. The only thing we understood from their little conversation is one woman saying “I don’t care” over and over.

One of the worst take outs I have had in over 4 years. The coke cans had expired (as pictured) and the quality of food was bad. I had ordered the falafel plate and the vegetables were stale. My friends ordered the Chicken Kebob and they were served lamb instead of chicken.
The portion sizes were also disappointing for the price and the restaurant never owned up to their mistake, apologized or issued a refund.

This is a nice little spot to stop in for a quick lunch. I had the lamb steak sandwich which was really good I thought. Next time I'm going to try their falafel though. The staff here was very nice and quick. By the way I was a little bit messy eating my lamb steak sandwich and I wish I would have had more napkins. So make sure you grab some extra napkins after you order your food ;-)

I’m from Houston and Mediterranean places pack your plate with meat, rice, salad, pita bread etc all for under $15. You literally get two meals in one . This was the most skimped Mediterranean food I’ve had (little chicken and lettuce) on top of it having zero flavor and costing $17. The chicken was literally tasteless…if you’re eating this you don’t know real Mediterranean food. Adding rice is even an up-charge…. Never coming back

Some of these bad reviews are really reaching…please don’t be discouraged-I urge you to try.
Our food was great as per usual. 4 falafel sandwiches, Syrian rice, stuffed grape leaves and of course a mango juice. We inhaled it all.
Sam our waitress was awesome. Made our experiencing that much better :) She was handling maybe 6 other tables and she was friendly, helpful and attentive.
Even sold me on a hoodie! I’ve been going to Mamoun’s since maybe 2011? And I finally have a souvenir because of her. Cheers

Hands down the best Arabic food you’ll find in CT. Been coming here since I was a child and they leave me full and happy everytime. Also the Turkish coffee will send you up the wall, just make sure to pair it with a pistachio Turkish delight!

First time here and food was amazing, we ordered a few things to try and they were just as amazing lamb was cooked perfect, the falafel was amazing and the Ful medames out of this world wish I had leftovers! . Tabuleh was good but it could have used some more lemon.
If you are in the new haven area this is A place you must check out great middle eastern food

If you are cool with ultra casual environment (paper plates, cups, plastic silverware) I would highly recommend this spot. I had a falafel pocket and it was the best I've ever had. Service was quick and friendly. Try the house tea.

This place is amazing! The food n prices are unbelievable. I will definitely be going back. Highly recommend trying the falafel sandwich n lentil soup. Could eat the tahini sauce on everything.

Great place! Good food and affordable, too! The atmosphere is nice, the staff are friendly and professional. My whole family loves Mamoun's. We have always had a good experience there.

Every time we visit from FL we come and are never disappointed! Love all the food. They even gave us two hot teas on the house the other day. Training our kids to try all foods and come back here every trip. Basic inside and table wear but isn’t it all about the food and personal experience. Experiences are what you make them. They assist with smiles and terrific food. The FL Fappiano family.

Nathan Empsall agrees it was grub hubs fault.... but still complains about the restaurant... WTF??? Sounds like one of those annoying people that just wants to get his food comped!!!

This place is nothing like the authentic food. It's designed for people who don't know better or for after alcohol place at 2am. Unfortunately, not too much competition around (hint).

This was my first visit & definitely not my last. Between the food & the prices, I couldn't believe it. I didn't believe it till I saw the check.Outstanding Food! 5 Stars!! Also Won Best Middle Eastern Cuisine a couple years in a row now. That should also say something about the place.
Also they have Hookahs you can use and purchase different flavored tobacco.
Christine Baluha
Best falafel. Only babaganoush I've ever liked, and amazing grape leaves.

This place is great for late night bites, especially if you are a vegan or vegetarian. Their menu is easy to understand and very detailed. The pastries are in a display case right when you walk in the door and you can watch the cook prepare your food or smoke hookah outside of that's your style. I've tried a different item everytime I've ever visited the restarting and I will keep doing so until I've tried everything that is vegan/vegetarian.
I have been a handful of times and only once have I been confused by what occurred. I ordered a falafel ball and when I got home to begin eating, the ball was cut in flat about 2/3 of the way. Not sure if that is common practice. Also I watched my ticket get moved to the back of line when a group of 5 walked in after me. Other than these incidents I've always been satisfied with my orders.

Always a great time fresh food, decent prices always like the last people there before they close.

We finally got the chance to try out Mamoun's. Our friends had told us about how great they are. They really are wonderful. Their food is fabulous. Their desserts OMG so good. It's a tiny place but nice that they have some parking behind the building. We'll definitely be going back.
