I have a room temperature app on my cellphone. I layed my cellphone on our table and activated it. I noticed people around me eating with their coats on. I found the room temperature inside Richards at the dining tables was 62 degrees. I asked the manager to turn the heat up. The thermostat was located behind the front counter, nearer the kitchen. The manager indicated to me the thermostat was set on 70 degrees, and that she increased the temperature to 72. She said that's all she could do. I really dislike eating with my winter coat on. I guess I should wait for summer.
The waitress was friendly, but seldom returned to our table to refresh coffee, or provide refills. We had to catch any employee to get service.

It was good. I got The Sampler, which consists of 2 eggs, toast, 2 pieces of bacon, piece of ham, piece of sausage, potatoes and pancakes. My husband and I share pancakes (that is our dessert)

Great attentive service. I forgot about this 1 with the other being closed now.

Food wad good. Small portions but good value. No salad bar still. Was told too expensive to maintain. It's Richard's seem to be struggling.

I walked in at noon on a Wednesday. Was the youngest by 20 in the whole place. I ordered a skillet and was not impressed. Place was old and looked dated and dirty. Not for me. I did enjoy the sweet tea!

Stopped in a New Haven Halls for lunch with a party of four. Order buster platter and when I received it and took my first bite; I realized that a finger from a glove was mixed in with it!!!!! It looked like so think else at first... I've come across a hair here and there but never something as shocking as this...Manager on duty only offered to replace it. No comp or anything.... I feel the entire lunch should have been free. By the way my appetite was gone. Did not want a replacement order. Horrible customer service!!!!!

9/26/2015 Good food (2 people: 2 Fist Burger & Prime Rib). Well established old restaurant and drive-thru with attached bar. Great service early dinner hour!

High price/terrible food. I had dinner at Halls in New Haven Sunday evening. I ordered chicken. It was brought out within 5 minutes which tells me it wasn't cooked when to order. And of course it was cold. The baked potato was also cold. The waitress took it back and zapped it in the microwave!!! Of course, this ruined the chicken. All this nasty food and a drink for $10!! Never again!!

Canal tap has is a smoking bar! New haven allows smoking. It's one of the things I, as a smoker enjoy about this bar. The food is spectacular, unlike any other bar. No other bar in town offers a steak or lobster dinner at a reasonable price with more than adequate serving size and, it's delicious!!! I'm very pleased with the service I have always received. The waitresses and bartenders have always been very pleasant and accommodating. I've never felt unwelcome. I've never sat with and empty drink or plate. For the non smokers, there are smoke eaters fans and, a patio door that can be opened or, a patio!

Canal tap house new haven. Is there a smoking ban or not??? I went to the canal house this past weekend (feb 2013) and could hardly stand to sit there. I would have left but there was a party of four and the other 3 weren't bothered

Cheap, good food. Hall's is dirt cheap and filling if you want it to be, and a great place to meet friends and grab a good meal before hanging out. Seat yourself!<br/><br/>Also, the staff is always friendly.<br/><br/>(and a note: I think they went smoke free finally)

Lousy Service. Visited on Saturday, 6/30/2012. Sat at bar in restaurant area. Waitress took 15 min to discover I was even there. Said she would be back to take my order. Another 20 min went by before my order was taken. Waitress came back and said she forgot to put my order up and apologized for delay. Another 30 min expired and the cheeseburger and fries still hadnt arrived. I got up and said the hell with it. Too bad because I really like Halls, been going to Coliseum Halls for 53 yrs.Never had a problem. Will never go to New Haven Halls again, it sucks.

My wife and I were excited to try the new Tap Haus, however when we opened the door we were met by a cloud of thick cigarette smoke! The Tap Haus is nothing more than a smokey, smelly bar. We would love to support restaurants in New Haven, but not until smoking is ban

Halls In New Haven. I usually really like the food. Except today. I went to the website for the phone number to call in a take-out. The number at the site is NOT Halls in New Haven, it's the main Halls office. They gave me the correct number. I called and it rang, and rang, and rang. No one picked up. I checked the number in the phone book and it was correct. I called again and got someone after the 3rd ring. The woman on the phone was very pleasant. I picked up my favorite cob salad which is usually wonderful. Not today. The lettuce was wilty and looked unapatizing. The tomato was on the verge of spoiling. The chicken was tastless. The only bring spots were the very crisp bacon and the great breadsticks. Usually this salad is very good. I wonder why the person who boxed it up didn't see the yuck!

The restaurant is smokey because its in New Haven's. We don't have the same smoking ban as Fort Wayne. The food is decent and breakfast, which is served all day, is great. I've never been served cold food here. The prices are great!

Nothing special. Food is ok, prices are the best attraction - quite reasonable. Service is prompt, yet cold. Food comes quick to the table, but is nothing that special. Biggest negative is the aroma - smoke fills the atmosphere immediately walking into the lobby. Prefer other restaurants in the area here - friendlier service, better tasting food, cleaner & fresher appearance.

Dark Dingy and Smokey. Halls has been around for a long time i think the early 40's and this place in particular has a very dark dingy look , its time to update.<br/>Believe it or not Smoking is still allowed in New Haven and the place is like one giant smoke cloud.<br/><br/>The service is typical for a locally owned small town diner but the food is bland but not at a bad price.
