This was such an amazing experience. Food was incredible delicious. Every bite is a new exploration. All flavors were so complicated and yet worked together so well. Highly recommend the caramel glazed pork shoulder with the coconut jasmine rice(I don’t know what they did to the coconut jasmine rice, it was so simple but mind blowing good!!) Desserts were amazing, we got cream brûlées and friend custard. Both are heavenly good. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for the great experience!
By chance found this incredible new restaurant Maypop—a Thai/Vietnamese/Louisiana fusion place that was absolutely amazing. Flavors were uniquely mixed and textures were perfection. Don’t walk but run to this place before others discover it! Wow! 😍😍😍
Dessert, sweet potato, pork and chicken wings were outstanding
Amazing experience!!
The ambiance was very nice, the staff was very accommodating and went the extra mile by bringing our vegetarian plates for my girlfriend on the house since most of their menu was meat based.
The cocktail Pika Pika was a good spicy tequila and passion fruit blend but their wine menu was quite expansive too.
The blend of fusion cuisine was very creative:
- Spaghetti with blue shell crab in tomato broth
- Tom Yum Thai Lemongrass soup with mushrooms and Gnocchi
Both were very flavorful and packed with seasoning.
10/10 must visit!
Amazing southern fusion in a beautiful setting with a cool vibe. Everything on the menu is a winner and the cocktails are great too.
We started off with the fried oysters; there’s a bit of Asian fusion to the style and presentation, and the oysters were perfect, not greasy and the right amount of batter. The ribeye was amazing, just enough fat and sear. I’ll admit that this wasn’t the healthiest of meals, but definitely worth it and will be back for the rest of the menu. Seems like a great place for a group or date night, and the bar always has a few seats just in case you didn’t make reservations.
This was hands down the best food we had on this trip. Not at all New Orleans food but it was a nice change of pace. The flavor was fabulous and I was so excited for the next plate to come out.
Was recommended this spot as a New Orleans must-go. The service was so friendly and helpful. Tried a few things from the menu. My personal favorite was the blue crab pasta, super well balanced and you can order extra crab for it if you’d like—I’d recommend getting more. Great place for group dinners, birthday dinners, and a nice date night.
I’m originally from Boston and this is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Brittany was very kind, personable, and attentive. The black drum fish is easily the best fish dish I ever had. So flavorful, little spicy, and the sweet potato purée greatly complimented the fish. The dish was filled with so much flavor but it still felt light at the end. I was full but not bloated and didn’t felt gross. The chef and the wait staff are top tier. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience.
We came to Maypop last night for their Coolinary menu and it did not disappoint! The value for the food you get is very impressive ($45 for a 3 course dinner, and we added the $15 wine pairing option, which was also a great value.) My favorite dish we had was the Louisiana Blue Crab and Andouille Tom Yum over Gnochetti pasta. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the desert, (a little dry for my taste) but everything else was spot on!
Pleasantly surprised by the variety and creative flavors of this restaurant. Came during happy hour and was able to try several small portions and drinks at a very reasonable price. I would come back just for the spicy wings. The shrimp and lamb entrees were also great. The ambiance is modern and quiet, making it a nice spot for a relaxed date or happy hour spot before a night out.
My friend and I came here for Coolinery and WOW. Rendered us absolutely speechless!! Everything was perfectly prepared and well balanced. The portion was great and the service is amazing. Maypop for the win!!
At the recommendation of a New Orleans native, I decided to give Maypop a try. Not only did I find the menu interesting, but I loved the combination of Louisiana dishes intertwined with a Southeast Asian twist. Every dish was fantastic! The service was top notch and I really enjoyed the unique cocktails. I wish Tampa had something similar to this concept because it really is a treat when you find a restaurant that does fusion really well, like Maypop!
Every dish, every taste was so well thought out, but to a flaw. The food overall was excellent BUT ONLY IF you get bites that have a little everything on the plate. Every portion was awesome and so well rounded, but if you don't get a pistachio or whatever in that bite, it falls flat.
Had a 3 course meal that came with wine. They were paired with the courses quite well, despite being the cheaper wines on the list.
We had reservations but it took 45 minscto get seated.
Eclectic and amazing - for anyone who is looking for an incredible fusion option or something outside of the New Orleans norm, Maypop will satisfy those cravings. Not a bad dish in the house, I'd encourage you to be adventurous in your order. Cocktails well worth the money too. Considering how great those were, we had to get dessert as well. Each item is made with so much attention to detail and articulation, it is like enjoying edible art. Service was good, we had to wait a bit for some dishes but it was pretty busy. One of the best eating experiences you can have in NOLA.
Very nice atmosphere and very stylish! The food was amazing... especially the desert with the frosted flakes was soo good!
Edited to add....still one of my favorite restaurants in New Orleans. Coolinary 2023 menu is TERRIFIC.
My absolute favorite time is when I go to a restaurant and can say with absolute certainty that I could never replicate a meal. Maypop is this place. EVERY. TIME. Phenomenal experience. Fantastic service, not too buttoned up, every plate screaming with flavor. I try to go back regularly because the menu changes often. I look forward to the return of dim sum and I'm just grateful they survived covid.
This restaurant was really nice. The ambiance was great. It's not a big restaurant, but it's a good spot to eat out with friends. Really classy joint.
The service was great. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. She made sure we were taken care of. We had a large group (11), and she didn't miss a beat.
The food was delicious. They gave us some little beignet balls, which were surprisingly good. The bread is a must-have, it's not free you have to buy it but it's worth it.
The oysters are a must-have also!! Its on the appetizer side, so make sure you try them. I had the crispy noodle bowl, which was very tasty. Seasoned to perfection😋
My husband had some pork dish, not sure the name, and he was pleased with his dish. Actually, everyone was totally satisfied with their food.
The restroom was clean, a little small, but clean.
Other than that, I'll say, make sure you add them to your list.
I love all the flavors of these creative dishes! I was a bit disappointed in the crispy oysters because they weren’t very crispy but they were still good. The noodles were delicious as was the fish! I love the amuse bouche and complimentary little desserts they bring out for you, tasty lagniappe! It’s just a bit pricey because it’s not all that filling.
The vibe and menu at Maypop is very reminiscent of a trendy Asian fusion restaurant! Taking from the diverse culture of New Orleans & adding the pizzaz of Southern-Asian influences - the menu translates into a culinary masterpiece.
I started with the Garganelli Pasta with Jumbo Gulf Shrimp and had the Nūóc Mâm Caramel Glazed Sticky Pork Shoulder as my entreé - both of which were truly devine!!
The service was also impeccable, with a very attentive server who made sure we had everything we needed.
Everything was incredible from the moment we arrived on the sidewalk outside. The aesthetic is understated chic, the staff was incredibly kind and informative even in the midst of an insanely busy evening. Can’t say enough about the food. Thankfully we had a group of 6 so we were able to try a large portion of the menu and absolutely NOTHING disappointed.
