My first time ever in NOLA, and my husband's first time back in more than 30 years. We arrived at the place we were staying around 9:00pm, and were starving. I looked online and Buffa's was the closest, within walking distance, that was still open (24/7!).
Even though it was late, Huggy the bartender greeted us with a smile and offered us menus. When it was time to order, he sat at the table with us and took the time to ask where we were from, and also to recommend items from the menu.
He told my husband the red beans and rice were the best in New Orleans, and my husband had to agree they were some of the most delicious he's ever had. My burger was cooked perfectly (extra well done) and was tasty as well.
We were in and out in less than an hour. I would recommend Buffa's if you're looking for a laid-back, out-of-the way spot with good food that won't break the bank!
I had never been to this "hole in the wall" before attending my friends' 50th anniversary brunch. Great find! Typical New Orleans bar and restaurant with really good food and music. I must go again!
Met up with a group of friends for the Sunday brunch. The Bailey's french toast was to die for. As were the bloody Mary and mimosas. Loved music provided by Some Like It Hot. Will definately return. Might add service was excellent even though it was busy.
Buffa's is a great place for live music, good food and beverages at reasonable prices. We sat at the bar and Peter took care of both of food and drink orders. The music was by Dave Ferrato and he played mostly original songs with a few covers mixed in. He had a sax player the entire time as well as a drummer towards the end. One of the hidden gems in New Orleans.
Went here on a whim, sat at front bar, we could hear the music. Have patience during the jazz brunch, they are very busy and food takes awhile. Totally worth it. One of our best meals and definitely our best bfast while in NOLA. Go relax and enjoy the people you're with!
Wonderful place for good music and great food. Relaxed, neighborhood atmosphere. Friendly wait staff. Always a good time!
One of my all time favorites in the city. They always have great local artists and the staff are so friendly! I would definitely recommend Buffa's
Buffa's is a great dive like bar. We stayed nearby on Burgundy and enjoyed dropping in here late at night for a quick drink and some food. The bartender is really friendly. Food pretty good I wish I could put some of that Blu cheese slaw on some hot chicken. Ambiance is low lights and good music. Prices are also pretty good for this area to. I'll be sure to drop in on my next visit and try the raved about burger but really enjoyed the Avenger and patty melt
The most delicious grilled cheese bacon sandwich!! Awesome service, great live music. What else could one ask for? Oh, yeah - amazing prices! Definitely a nice experience!!!
James was our bartender and he made an amazing night for us patrons who normally don't go to bars. Welcoming atmosphere without any judgment. The Halloween decor was the best as well as their menu.
Buffa’s is a very cool bar where a lot of the locals hang out. More to the point they have some of the best burgers anywhere. Buffa’s is an old-school bar with generous pours, reasonable prices and great service. I understand they also have a great Sunday brunch which I have not yet tried. When in the upper French Quarter it is a must try.
Fairly sure I've previously been here, but it's a little hazy. That long walk down esplanade from the qtr to mid city facilitates a pit stop. Showed up with a group of friends after the decadence parade. Bartenders were great, but they seemed to be overwhelmed and unprepared in the kitchen on this occasion. Not sure why they didn't expect a crowd after the parade ended. We all ordered food and it was all really good, even if it took a little longer. I didn't have one, but a couple people had the blue cheese burger and raved about it. Red beans were good as were my brats. There's a back bar which offers a little more space to eat, plus the stage.
Great place to go for brunch on a sunday! Really amazing local band was playing.
I had the biscuits and gravy. Maybe it's just because I'm used to Carolina biscuits and gravy, but the biscuits didn't have the same texture as used to. The gravy was really good, but different than I'm used to. If I had something else I might have rated the food five stars.
I live around the corner. In 10 years, I have been here three times. Each time has been uniquely awful. The first time I found a cigarette butt at the bottom of my bloody Mary. The second time they couldn't figure out a togo order. The third time, which I am giving them a pass for, was the day they announced they might close. Waited 1 hour for a burger before they realized they never put the order in. This is all dive bar stuff so you sort of expect it. Buffas is an institution that I am sad to see go.
Quintessential NOLA dive bar and I LOVE this place. Great for late night eats. Friendly service. Tasty food. The blue cheese coleslaw is a special treat. Thanks for showing me this place Tori. Let's go back soon.
Epic wings! The signature hot sauce is amazing!! The bartender is super friendly and welcoming. Also very reasonable beer prices. So happy they have stayed open will be back to catch some live music soon!
Great location on Esplanade with. The night is a great time to dine here with the views of French quarter architecture and cruising cars down street. I really dig the the design here as it is eclectic with old school diner and neon lights. Bartender is cool and made me a Margarita. I added a few drops of 2 out of 5 of Buffa's personalized Hot Sauces. Made for a new excellent Spicy Margarita. Got Patty Melt, Blue Cheese Cole Slaw and a dish of chopped meat for my dog. Patty melt was exceptional 👌!!! Juicy, tasty and fresh savory taste. Slaw was delicious and I even got to chat with chef who was hanging out outside for a few. Really love this place. Chill and good vibes
