I had an outstanding dining experience at this Italian restaurant. Every aspect, from the impeccable service to the exquisite cuisine, was truly excellent. The atmosphere exuded a delightful charm, creating the perfect backdrop for a memorable evening. The menu showcased a remarkable array of authentic Italian dishes, each masterfully prepared with attention to detail and a burst of flavors. The staff's knowledge and passion for the cuisine added a delightful touch to the overall ambiance. This restaurant is a gem for those seeking a top-notch culinary journey in New Orleans. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates excellence in dining.
In the past we have found the Italian Barrel is normally a very busy restaurant, especially on weekends. This time we made an early reservation and were extremely pleased. The service was great, friendly and attentive without being bothersome. The food was good, especially the pumpkin ravioli that I had. This was a very nice dining experience.
We went to New Orleans for our honeymoon and decided that the Italian Barrel would be the perfect place to celebrate Just the Two of Us. And they did not disappoint! It was very romantic! My husband and I have zero knowledge of wine but we told our waiter that we definitely wanted something white and very sweet and he said I have just the thing, then he proceeded to bring back a bottle of wine that I'm definitely going to call and get the name of because it was perfect exactly what we were asking for! He was very knowledgeable of all the wines they offer and knew every ingredient of each dish that we were looking at! Everyone there was very sweet very attentive and it was just so perfect for a delicious romantic dinner! Can't wait to go back next year for our anniversary!
Lovely late lunch at this authentic Italian eatery! The bruschetta started us off with mild and delicately shaved Parmesan cheese, in a generous portion-size, enough for two. The main course selection included the Penne Alla Arrabiata and the Pesto E Scampi, which were beautifully plated and tasted like home made. The sausage meatballs had the perfect amount of fennel and were very aromatic. The pesto E scampi combination worked well and was not oily at all, and the shrimp was cooked to perfection! To top it all off, the service was prompt, courteous, and Alessandro brought us a taste of his beloved Italy in NOLA’s French Quarter! He owes us tiramisu, but he made up for it by suggesting the best place for beignets! Cafe Du Monde! All in all a 5/5 experience.
I’ve always been a big fan of this place. Every time i’ve eaten here I leave full of good food and a little tipsy - it’s always been a good experience. The menu is a little pricey, but their food reflects the prices in taste, it’s always been really great dishes. The portions for the entrees can be a little small which is unfortunate but a constant here. Their charcuterie boards are a must try - so so good every time. Overall, indoor or outdoor, this place is a great little spot to have a nice dinner. However - if it’s warm outside, i’d highly recommend sitting outside so you don’t sweat your whole meal.
Very nice little Italien restaurant. Really good food, I had a Lasagne, which was really good. The waitress was really kind, the only thing is, that I asked for wifi, because I saw, there is wifi called "Italien barrel". The only thing I needed was a password. But the waitress told my, when I asked, that they would have no wifi. Maybe a lie or just not for customers, I don't know.
The Ambiente was nice, little street in French quarter, not to busy, but not too much hidden.
every chance I get I order osso busco when on menu, at this price I was ready to be wowed but nope I wasn't had to add salt/pepper and i never do that ....everything else was very tasty the atmosphere awesome the service superb especially for a party of 12!
Our table had the Lasagna, Spaghetti & Veal Meatball, and Veal Porcini. I only snapped a pic of my lasagna but 10/10 for the whole table. Spaghetti portion was way bigger than expected and they even got to take some to go. Portions in general we’re more than enough.
Sangria was delicious and refreshing, especially on a warm evening in the quarter. We skipped on Antipasti and munched on the fresh bread brought to the table.
Italian Barrel is cozy little restaurant with a great ambiance.
I loved that the place was small but they didn’t pack it with tables. There was walking room and I wasn’t constantly being bumped (weird pet peeve of mine).
If you’re in the market for an authentic Italian dinner, give them a try.
Nice Italian restaurant in the French Quatter. If you would like to get a break from Cajun food, this is a great place to choose. If you have guests in town, this is also a place to recommend. Very nice service and the servers are friendly. Will go back again.
Great service, very tasteful food. Portions were good size except for crab salad. Ravioli with mushrooms and truffle oil was delightful.
Penne alla vodka, pasta would have been better if it was fresh. The crab meat was delicious.
Pesto e scampi, shrimp was very well seasoned, but again the pasta itself was meh.
For the premium price i would have expected fresh pasta to be used for every dish.
Nice atmosphere. Didn't make reservations so we had to sit at the bar. Rhonda, the bartender was very attentive and friendly. Eating space was a bit cramped due to all the things on the bar. Wife had the meatballs and spaghetti, asked for more sauce.. I had the chicken Antony, used a lot of her sauce to give it a bit more flavor.
Came to the Italian Barrel for my birthday dinner. Visiting from out of state. Throughly enjoy everything be ordered! The service team was awesome. I used the term team because everyone working check on us. Not just our waiter. Makes a great experience when everyone is looking out for the guests. Will definitely visit again when we come back to New Orleans!
Absolutely the best Italian meal I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying! The service was top notch, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was romantic and comfortable. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting New Orleans. Try the Espresso Crème Brûlée! It's to die for!
Gem of a place. Possibly the best Italian food I've eaten. Service was right on point - helpful and timely yet not overbearing. And the food was absolutely amazing. Veal picatta and chicken Parmigiano were standouts.
The most delicious sea bass and perfectly cooked steak I've had in my life! Excellent wine list. Alexandro provided the perfect blend of friendly and attentive service!

My wife had the lasagna and she loved it. I had the nicoletta salad and a special fettuccine with a cream sauce that had prosciutto and asparagus. It was all delicious. Including the focaccia! Service from Rhonda was superb and everyone else who helped us was very nice.
