This place is amazing! Beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff and not to mention some of the best sushi I've had in New Orleans. Which is saying something because I am absolutely crazy about sushi and they are definitely in my top 3. The TranBestBite is the best never had sushi like that and it was awesome. I love this place and I go back any chance I get!
I came with friends to meet more friends for a small birthday dinner. We wanted to sit at the sushi bar but we were a party of 5 and the sushi bar was full so we waited at the alcoholic bar for some seats to free up. We got cocktails, hot sake, and appetizers. Bartenders were friendly and gave us the right amount of attention. The food was good but the cocktails were what I loved. The Haiku is delicious. We all chose different cocktails and neither of us were disappointed. They were awesome. We decided to just get a table since they were going to close soon. Our server was nice and our food was great. Definitely would recommend and come back
We love this place. Happen upon this place by accident. Could not find the place we were actually looking for but glad we found Tsunami. Our bartender and server, Lisa is fantastic. This is the first place we eat at when we come to New Orleans.
The service and the food were absolutely phenomenal. Loved it! Highly recommend it. We had the munchie roll, green monster roll, dragon roll and hung lo roll. We also had Ika fries. So delicious! The presentation of the plates was beautiful.
Tsunami always has the best quality sushi. The service here has been very good from my experience and they have specials throughout the week that you can find on their website.
We had a discrepancy with allergens but everyone was safe and management went out of their way to make sure we were okay and corrected our order.
Of Tsunami’s three locations in Louisiana this is actually my least favorite (sorry). It’s nice inside but it aims for more of a modern fine dining appeal, whereas, the one in BR is a rooftop experience and the other in Lafayette has a more rustic flare to it with their choice of oriental decor and the exposed brick. Just an aside.
Either way. If I’m having sushi in New Orleans I would prefer it to be here. I haven’t found anywhere better yet but am open to it :)
I hate to give this place 4 stars. Honestly think it deserves 5 stars based on food and atmosphere, but I feel obligated to give my experience.
The service was not great... The waitress was very kind and helpful, but completely forgot our appetizer. Then later we ordered drinks and it took 15 minutes for them to come out. We were done with our meal by that point. 3/5 for service.
The food was great though. Sashimi dinner was very fresh and the sushi rolls were very good. Thai pasta was delicious, and it was a very large portion (be warned in case you also order sushi).
Brussels were the only thing that were so so. Not bad, but not great. Overall definitely a 5/5.
Atmosphere is very cool. Tables are spaced well, good music that is not too loud, and a cool bar. 5/5.
Had dinner her with a few friends every was amazing. The sushi so fresh( big easy, black & gold & the Zach special) are my favorites and the plum wine. Our waiter name was Sabrina such a sweetheart. I can’t wait to go go back there.
Great place. Right in the middle of downtown NOLA. Lots of corporate folks coming in to eat. Food is great & service as well. Fried calamari was amazing. Definitely ordering that again when I’m back here. Baked salmon sushi was our no. 1 on this plate.
Loved this place. Fresh food, no frozen stuff, and not fried either... how refreshing for America. It's located in the CBD area of New Orleans, so it's more upmarket than the likes of Bourbon Street.
A pint of Kirin and a cranberry juice first up, with three rolls between us, which worked out well. All followed up with a shared chocolate bomb with ice cream (see all my photos).
All in all, an excellent dining experience and thanks to Sabrina, our server, for a good job.
Very nice sushi place! All the rolls were very tasty and the qualitybwas good . nice service as well. Would recommend if you get tieed of Nola typical food.
Amazing place! They were fantastic with my furry companion and me. They even went above and beyond and made a roll resembling a dragon; it was unbelievably cute! I will definitely be going again when we come to town. :)
Booked a reservation for my daughter’s 18th birthday. Food was good. We had a server being trained and he was working really hard. Everyone was pleased with their food. My sushi was not my favorite but their fried rice is so good!! It’s different and unique. If you are looking for the usual super greasy fried rice you get at any other restaurant, you may be disappointed. The Brussels sprouts dish was seriously amazing. They treated my daughter to a birthday treat. She was thrilled. Only negative, like a serious thumbs down: they were blasting country music. Lol. It was the weekend of Halloween, we were in the beautiful city of New Orleans eating some great sushi and country music was blaring. Almost took a star off for that.
Great sushi place in New Orleans! Best sushi I’ve had on my visits to Nola. Ika fries are a must try. The big easy roll was my favorite. My friend really liked a roll that has a dorito chip crust. The atmosphere is very cool and total date night vibes. The host Patrick was very professional and nice.
Miso soup and seaweed salad were both excellent, would definitely order both again. Seaweed salad has a glass noodles texture and is a little sweet.
Black and gold roll got great reviews and I wasn't disappointed. Not normally a baked roll kinda guy, but I'm glad I made an exception. NO style flavor profile, with a little kick. Sweet to balance and a large portion. Would order again.
Tuan roll was good but paled in comparison to the black and gold roll. The roll pieces are very large, and they were tasty, but I would probably try another fresh roll before coming back to this one.
Father Calais was excellent. Deep fried roll with Philly cheese is the highlight with some chili sauce as kick. Good choice for the heavy roll, would order again.
Big tuna. Big to the point of being hard to eat. Great flavor but a little unwieldy. Would pick a different fresh roll next time.
Munchy roll: basically a philly roll with Doritos crumbs sprinkled on the outside. I enjoyed it as a philly roll but he Doritos didn't really add anything aside from novelty. Would just order the philly roll next time and save $2. Maybe have them add some cucumber for crunch.
Cajun roll wasn't my favorite, but GF liked the crunchy gator. I wouldn't order that again either.
The lava roll is close to the black and gold (minus crunchies and a little smaller portion). Not a bad choice, would order again.
Green monster was ordered and got good marks from the gf, I'm allergic so I'll have to take her word for it.
Fried rice is very pepper heavy. Ordered as a filler without meat. It did have lots of fresh veggies, but the pepper overpowered anything else that might have been in it. Might be better with a protein, but I would just get something else at that point.
Atmosphere is quieter casual, the room has an industrial modern look, they use real candles, large parties could dine here, the service was good. The prices are reasonable for sushi and they have a happy hour that seems like a good deal too. We will be back.
Love to do the Omakase here. The chefs create unique bites and really feel you out to see your likes and dislikes. Overall, fresh fish and delicious flavors.
This is a great sushi place not only for the quality and deliciousness of the sushi but also the atmosphere. It's a date night kind of place and a lot of sushi restaurants aren't really much for environs. Bf and I went for a night out and it was great. Cocktails strong, food delicious and loved the paperless ordering system. It's not my favorite sushi in the area, but definitely top three.
Great! Great! Great! Fresh Sushi, authentic loved the bread pudding too!
The atmosphere was great! Went for Friday lunch and sat at the bar. Ika fries were not bad but a little greasy and would not order again. Black and Gold roll was amazing!
Walked by during happy hour. Ordered a bit too much, but a good variety. Helpful bartender and tv help allow me to finish the plate slowly. Classy atmosphere.
