What I loved:
Perfectly cooked food I could taste, that wasn't muted or overpowered by sauces and condiments. The quality of food was excellent, the ingredients perfectly chosen to best complement the dishes.
Smokey flavors, balanced with a little sweet, a little savory.
The fried goat cheese had the lingering yum of brown butter (?). They were fat and perfectly, lightly fried.
The salad extremely plentiful and not weighted down with too much dressing. The salad was probably my favorite, as the ingredients hit all my favorite taste points. I can't emphasize enough how balanced everything was.
The burger was good, but I could barely touch it after we ate the other stuff, so leftovers it is.
Also of note: Keto and lowcarbers- this is the best I've seen in the city, as far as quantity, if you like your burgers sans bread. Generous amount of Brie, egg, lots of arugula, and a really nice flavor to the beef.
I added no salt, pepper or other condiments to food. We ate it exactly as served and was delicious.
Service and ambience; excellent. Someone over there is a perfectionist. Would rather have a choice of 3 perfect things, than 25 average things.
Really excellent. Went with a small group so we sampled a bit of the menu. Our server was Scott, he very attentive and friendly. I got the brisket, and it was delicious and actually better than blue oak bbq. The pickle chips were crispy, thin and plentiful. The real star was the short rib over grits. It was deep, flavorful and rich. One of the best composed dishes in the city, worthy of a fine dining - white tablecloth establishment. I will be back soon, one of the most enjoyable dining experiances I've had in NO.
Thanks to Open Table, we found out about Brown Butter Southern Kitchen and Bar. In looking for a reservation for a party of 8 on Sunday at 10:30am, this restaurant came up as a possibility so we went for it. The 5 stars are for the food....it was outstanding. Several of us had the Chicken and Waffle. The belgium waffle had a delicious flavor. It had a crispy exterior and soft in the middle. One guest felt it was too crispy and while I did agree, it didn't stop me from eating it because it tasted so good! The syrup was really good, too! We ordered a couple of The Baskets with the biscuits and cornbread. The biscuits were light and fluffy and the speciality butters and jam were on point. Not a huge cornbread fan but it too was delicious!! The portion for the Shrimp and Grits was massive! And the brunch burger was cooked to medium rare perfection. Bloody Mary's had the perfect level of spice and were loaded with wonderful veggies and a friend had the Poinsettia and really enjoyed it. Appreciate Open Table for making this little gem known to us. They had some interesting offerings on the menu which made it fun to order. Oh and the Crab Mac & Cheese....score!! Congrats on the 2 year anniversary~
This place is just amazing! One of my absolute top go to spots when I have friends in town and really want to wow them with charming, southern cooking. The staff is super attentive and the owner is one of the nicest, most humble people I've ever met. He comes and says hello every time I come in! This is one of the best restaurants in Mid City and I can't recommend enough :)

Great experience for this party of 1! Server, Scott, was personable and attentive. I had the brisket plate...fork tender brisket, really flavorful speckled beans and a surprising delicious and tangy slaw. What a great array of flavors. I will definitely be back.
This is our go to brunch spot and dinner is spot on as well! Great wait staff, and the food is perfection. Plus, have you seen their burgers and beer promotion?! Best and most delicious deal in town.
Omg! That is how we will rate this place that nobody seems to talk about enough. It was hard catching them due to their limited hours and my constant changing work schedule. I had the kimchi burger due to the fact that I love all things Korean and Japanese. This burger was melt in your mouth make you want to slap your mama delicious. Egg cooked perfectly kimchi was perfect level of heat for my taste palate. Everything I had here was delicious and they had endless mimosas! Who doesn’t love that? Great food great service. Forever a customer
Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner?! You guys are amazing!! Thank you so much for providing us with this wonderful verity of flavors and wonderful taste. Can't wait to see you guys during my next vacation to The Big Easy!!!!

Brown Butter Resturant kept up the great job with all these great meals!!!!
Great food, great cocktails, great space, great service. Brown Butter is such a wonderful addition to Mid-City's already bustling food scene! And as a Mid-Citizen, I'm happy to have found this amazing eatery just a short stroll away.
I've eaten from both their brunch and dinner menu and have always been impressed with the food and the amazing service. Definitely try the chocolate grilled cheese if you're in the mood for a treat and if you're there for brunch--dive into a Bloody Mary or a Bloody Hank (with Gumbo bitters and bourbon?!)
From the service to the delectable offerings, Brown Butter has never disappointed me or my dining companions, I can't imagine they would disappoint you unless you hate fresh, mouth watering, good food. Try it you'll love, seriously!
The choices are fresh and new. We had small plates to taste several items. Freshly made. Unique items. Friendly staff. We haven't been back again but I wouldn't shy away from it.
This place is not easy to get into. It's a bit small and a lot popular! 6 of us were able get an 8:45 seating. Restaurant is clean and inviting. Servers are very good and make great recommendations. 3 of us had the pimento cheese burger. They were each cooked perfectly. More of a lean mix but the fatty and flavorful pimento served as the fat needed to bring the burger together. Grilled buns also make this a great burger. The others had the sea bass special with eggplant purée and mix veggies. It was fresh and had an unexpected sweet palette across the dish. Overall, very solid dinner. I look forward to trying other dishes on the menu as there is plenty that looks appetizing!
I liked this restaurant because the food is delicious and simple with some elevated flavors. We got the Oyster T.L.T. which was amazing. Also the Chicken Fried Chicken and Fried Pickles were killer.
Several months ago, my friend Lorin and I met for lunch at Brown Butter Southern Kitchen & Bar. Located in Mid-City, Brown Butter opened up inside a strip mall early this year and seems to have made quite an impression in the six months following. The restaurant was already jumping when we arrived, even though it was a bit late in the lunch hour. After saying hello to several people (including food writer Todd Price whom I finally met in person) we sat down and placed our order.
I had Brown Butter on my zomato wishlist and finally decided to check it out. We went for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The food was really good! We cant wait to go back to try the dinner menu.
Great place to extend your taste buds. As a chef, I appreciate the flavors put together on the dishes here. Not over done but something you cannot make at home. Lunch was a Chicken/Waffle sandwich. Thin, plenty of filling and a sweet sauce on top that pulled all the flavors togather. Grilled brussel sprouts that were petite, sprinkled with salt and a dash of lemon, but whatever they cook them in (butter? vir. oil?) made them the best I've had. Finished with creme brûlée. Now most of time it's served in a flat, round dish. This came in glass that looked like a small jar and had a thick caramel crust on top. Presentation unique, flavor expected, good finish to a great meal. Bon Appetite !!!!
So happy to have this new restaurant in MidCity! It's not your ordinary, run-of-the-mill eating joint. High quality food. Excellent recipes. Changing menus. Totally enjoyed our first visit!
This place was good. It was busy (we didn't expect there to be a Sunday brunch things happening) The service was good and everyone was kind even being super busy, they acted like they enjoyed being there.
I got the brunch burger. The flavors were great - not the best burger burger I've ever had but it was tasty and moist. And made a great vehicle for flavor. The fries are great.
We also had the brussel sprouts and added a side of hot honey to them and 10/10 RECOMMEND doing this. So crispy. So tasty.
We had iced coffees with oatmilk. Fantastic. The coffee was congregation coffee which I think is local.
Update: came in for brunch this time and finally got my fried pickles- thin, crispy, and a huge portion! We enjoyed Shrimp & Grits, Honey Cluck'n Chicken Biscuit and the Brunch Burger. The place was packed and the service was great again!
1st review: I think I found out about this place on FB with someone posting a pic of some good looking fried pickles! Although I wasn't hungry enough to try them, we ordered a fried chicken sandwich and the Pork Belly. They were both very, very good and the service was great too!
First off our server Kendrick was an all star. The fact that I remember his name should say a lot.
The recommendation he made to try the Shrimp Creole was a great call. I like their take on it too. The ginger and cilantro give it an asian fusion type vibe. Everything else that was ordered was great too. The vibe of the place is really laid back and its tucked away in a nice spot right where Blockbuster Music used to be. Can't wait to come back to try other stuff.
Just a heads up.We went on a weekday afternoon so it was empty. This place is usually packed with a 30-45 minute wait so call a head if you're going any other time
Super great breakfast really enjoyed some of the housemaid items. Enjoy the breakfast plate with a side of bacon and Acadian bacon. The sidekick enjoys the chicken biscuit which was John Norris and had some of the best garlic fries I've ever had in my life on. These fries were hand cut and super yummy they've done a great job here!
I was very happy with the service and food quality at this establishment. I have recommended this place to several friends and family. The host was friendly and my waiter was knowledgeable and made great recommendations. I tried an off menu hot sauce that was amazing. I will be returning soon!!!!
Let’s just say my first experience with BBQ Catfish was great! The Chicken & Waffle is a generous portion with a lot of favor. If that wasn’t good enough, then came the desserts… you cannot go wrong with the Lavender Crème Brûlée or the Sweet Cornbread “Muffin” with Peach Preserves!
What a great place! Fantastic ambience, superb food, and everyone was kind. Will return. Brisket n Mac was tender as you could ask, Whipped Fets dip was unique and perfect. Thin cut pickles were excellent, light batter and crispy.
We had an amazing experience. We had the brunch burger, chicken and waffles(spicy), smoked trout toast(which was like tuna salad, weird taste/texture which adds to the fun of it, you just can't stop eating it because it tastes familiar and not so familiar at the same time), kids 1/2 waffle, and the chocolate and cheese sandwich. Everything was exquisite.
Brunch place with bottomless mimosas with good balance of champagne.
I ordered the Honey Cluck'n Biscuit, and it is MASSIVE. I definitely had a lot left for a later meal or snack. It was tasty but very heavy. The biscuit is soaked in the hot honey and it was a bit of unruly to eat.
I went with my group of 5 people for late Sunday brunch/lunch. We were seated promptly. The charcuterie board we shared as an app was divine. Service was a bit on the slow side, and I didn't like the pink neon lighting that was happening.
Solid spot. Nice interior and menu, and really liked the garlic fries! I had the fried oyster ‘burger’ - can also recommend that. Wings were good, but not mind blowing. Hard to know exactly what the happy hour specials are, and the menu online doesn’t seem to match what’s on the menu. All in all, hearty soul food and worth a try - you won’t be disappointed!
