Ummm, taste was amazing, just why to-go only? I wanted a dining experience. It felt more like a sweat shop.

This is the true Chinese food plug. Best rice, egg rolls and sweet and sour sauce! Any OG New Orleans resident will know this restaurant! Any visitors coming please eat here!! Food is 10/10! Currently they are doing cash only as computers are down and I don’t know how long for. Parking isn’t the greatest in this area but you’ll survive.

Hands down a great quick option! The lines are long but it moves quickly most of the time. Parking is absolutely terrible but the food is pretty good so you be ok by the time you eat your food. The food is prepared well, great portions, and pretty accurate with your order. The prices have increased but it's not to outrageous but still high.
Anway great lunch option

I ate here for the first time since the early 90's and the food is STILL FIRE!!! Definitely coming back every chance I get!

Their egg rolls were amazing. I was just a little put off by one of the people taking orders being so loud. I'm sure she just wanted people to hear her. But it made people feel a little off or uncomfortable.

Food is always fresh and you get a lot of food for the price, it's always crowded with people if you are picking up take out be prepared to wait about 20 minutes but the food will not disappoint.

It was one of popular Chinese cuisine. There was a long line for lunch. Take out only as of Jan 27, 2023.

Bring your money, get ur order, & leave

I've been going here for well over 20 years and the food is still delicious, always hot, and fresh.

The Chinese Kitchen has giant egg rolls and great boneless chicken. The menu is a basic Chinese menu with reasonable prices and large portions. The service is no nonsense and meant to be as efficient as possible so don't get your feelings hurt if the staff is short with you and does not want to chat. The line may look long but it moves very fast and the food is always hot and fresh.

The place is still crowded with lines out the door you make your orders and they still don't fill them correctly. But damm I love this place. The egg rolls are to die for and the barbecue ribs are great.

My boy told me "It's like ya mama made it!!!" The fried rice is better than what I used to get in Brooklyn!!!! Hell yeah!!!! (My enu was snapped recently so trust it is the right one! 😂

Only "To Go" orders. No sit down service. Food was good with long lines! This place has been around a long time! Since the 70's! It's a safe bet and better then most of the Chinese food around their!

One of those hidden gems in New Orleans that has been around for over 30 years. Great food. As of 5/2/2023 Chinese Kitchen is still not doing dine in service. This is a shame, because it has a nice small dining area. This place is no where near as crowded as it use to be. Don't go if you don't like being close to people, because it is a small place.

The food was great and sweet and sour chicken was off the chain
Michelle Maya
Enjoy the food, but the menu on this app or on Google is the wrong price. Needs to be updated. Prices are misleading. Thank God an egg roll comes with the meal.
Particular & Peculiar
The hot and sour soup is unstoppable and the egg rolls are the best on the planet. Very large portions of yummy food on all of the combination dishes. The pick-up area and process are a total mess. Recommend dinning in.

This location has been here since I was a little kid and I'm now 40 years of age. The black community has supported this establishment pre and post Katrina. What has Chinese Kitchen done to give back to those who have supported them? Not one smile nor a kind gesture at anytime. Today I went on their website and planned on ordering for friends in town for FQ festival. After waiting 15mins in line I finally arrived to the clerk. I asked for sesame chicken she responded "No sesame go to Five Happiness". I was stunned! Obviously customer service isn't concerned to them because the community will support them despite the horrible treatment. Today was my last day ever entering into this establishment.

No.. I went here recently because I have heard of all the good reviews. Plus it is right next to my school. But I was wrong. First of all, their OPEN sign was broken so that gave me a sign that either it's closed or they are too lazy to buy a new one. There were people around the area in front of the store smoking and asking for money which showed already how unclean it was. The service was slow and the place was dirty and cluttered. The women that worked there talked like they had no clue what English was and on top of that they were rude. When I paid for my food they refused to give me back my credit card until I received my food. And the food wasn't even worth it! The wontons have no flavor except for a lone shrimp in the middle. The chicken taste (and looks) so processed that I just decided to throw my 10 dollar meal away. The cooks looked like they put no effort into my meal. This place should be closed down!

It don't get any better. I'm from the neighborhood that borders the restaurant. I've been eating there for years. Living in Texas now, I make sure to stop in at Chinese Kitchen whenever I visit N.O. I haven't food any Chinese food anywhere that can compare.

Best Egg Rolls In The City. The food here is delicious! Egg rolls are the best I have EVER eaten and the shrimp fried rice is wonderful. Prices cheap, service good. Only minus is the parking.

Delicious egg rolls. My lobster sauce was too creamy but will order something else next time. I've only had delivery and it was fast and delicious

Lunch here is really fun if you don't mind a wait. It's bustling, smells amazing, food is great, and food comes pretty fast once you have a table. Parking is tight and the strip mall doesn't look like much, but don't be fooled.

Excellent Lo Mein!. Unlike every other Chinese Restaurant in NOLA, Chinese Kitchen turns out excellent lo mein that is not greasy or mushy, but tastes absolutely perfect. I highly recommend the shrimp since it always tastes fresh, never fishy.

You may not believe the hype about the eggrolls, but IMO, it's true. They are huge and fresh and crisp. The best thing about this place is how busy it is all the time—that just means nothing has time to go bad! Highly recommended!

The Best Chinese Food in Da City. I have been hitting this place for 15 years. I've never had an issue here not once.
The food is Hot,Fresh very flavorful , The place ain't much to look at but get past it and dig in to a plate of food here, and yopu'll keep coming back for years.
If you like American / Chinese food hit 5 happinest up the street , the place is very pretty in plenty to look at the owner comes around and says hello/ while you eat plain bland food it taste like wet paper. Thats somthing the best food in the city 2 blocks from the worst who could have figured

4thaluvuvfood. This was another glorious round of Adele vs CK combo plate,as usual CKCP wins-my heart that is!I have been eating here since I was a baby and I love this establishment,Ms. Selena has been serving me the same exact menu and the same exact presentation-my entire life-unchanged.That being said,I should give you fair warning-if you are looking for upscale, traditional chinese,or low-fat dining this is NOT what you are looking for.If you want rich, velvety shrimp in lobster sauce, crispy delicious fried boneless chicken in mouthwatering gravy, tender beef and broccoli, killer egg foo young, eggrolls that look like fried burritos and oozing with house-made roast pork-look no further, you have found your new favourite chinese take-out.If you don't much care for the decor or the location-suck it up,or better yet-just shut up and eat.It would be a wise decision as it is likely to become one of your favourite eats as well.Enjoy :) ......and kudos Ms.Selena, keep up the luv!!!

I only eat Chinese food at Chinese Kitchen! No lie. I lived in Atlanta for 12 years and whenever my co workers would order Chinese I would always pass and tell them "I only eat Chinese food at this one restaurant in New Orleans" and I still do to this very day. Back in the day before I left N.O. I would always order green pepper steak, for the past 10 years I haven't gotten past boneless fried chicken, no vegetables, extra rice and egg roll.
Pros: Good Chinese food, longtime local favorite. Cons: Long waits, rough area, some customers can be downright mean and rough talking to the workers (I would not advise this).
DAN
EGG ROLLS AND FRIED RICE. BEST I HAVE EVER HAD
NEIGHBORHOOD NOT THE BEST BUT SKIP THE REST
Rhonda Rodgers
Rhonda Rodgers. The best Chinese food in the world to me you can't get it no where but in New Orleans.I love it all I wish they had one in Seattle Wa. I miss it very much that's why when I go to New Orleans I make it my business to goes to the Chinese Kitchen. That is why they need to open one an Seattle Washington and yes I'm very SERIOUS about it!!!

Out on the town. Great Egg rolls and fried rice! I agree with the other reviewers it is not in a great part of town. It is a busy place but so worth it!
Daniel
The absolutely very best eggrolls, fried rice and BBQ ribs. This place is too crowded at times but worth the wait.
Buddha Belly
Fresh is the key. Best eggroll in the state. Everything made to order, that is also why you should not call ahead. Boneless chicken is dreamy and fried rice is always fresh (even when it comes with a combo). Egg foo young is not the healthiest but worth eating every now and then. Above average Hot and sour soup. Mandarin gravy is heavy but yum. Have to pay for everything that they consider "extra". Efficient/fast service consider the to-go volume they have daily. A hidden gem. Look elsewhere if you want authetic/traditional chinese food.

The Best Eggroll In The City.... My mother taught school in this neighborhood (Gertown/Carrolton) for over 20 years and this place was always a hot spot for take out. The eggrolls and wontons are the best I have ever had, atleast in New Orleans! The rest of the food is pretty regular. This place has a huge following, even with horrible take out service ( they don't place your order until you arrive to pick it up) and the in house service is not steller. I will say they are consistant, flavors are always what you had the 1st time and the portions are huge. I find the prices are a little expensive for this type of place...
StephRanieR
Low Quality, High Prices. I made the mistake of ordering take-out from here late this summer (I'll say September 2009) and I won't be back. The dish I ordered had greasy, flavorless, unidentifiable chicken bits, and some crappy shredded celery and onion. The wait was also extremely long, even for call-ahead take out. Not sure what the appeal of the place is, as it was pretty expensive (more than $10 for basic entrees) and not good-tasting at all. Disappointing.
Ryan
The food at this place is wonderful it's small for dining inn and very busy for take Out during lunch time but it's worth it check it out
Aaron Lin
The main course was full of veggies and cashews, which was great. And the beef was tender. The gravy was… amazing. I mixed that stuff in with the rice and then wished I had more rice to mix it in with.
