When you go to New Smyrna Beach, you ought to stop by The Happy Deli on your way there or back. We found it on the way home Saturday afternoon. With the quality of chef there, you might think it should be a stuffy place but this is a cute, clean, and modern cafe style restaurant and deli where they have a lot of great choices including all forms of coffee, smoothies and great after 4pm dinner specials. It was clear to us that Chef Lloyd has at least a couple decades of experience as he talked about having worked with the Ken's Steakhouse in Massachusetts (yes, where the salad dressings originates!). That came up when I asked about the dressings for my salad and I found out that he makes his own vinaigrette. It was so good, ideal on my big Cobb salad which also had bacon that he prepares from the raw pork himself. He also spoke of having run two Italian restaurants when my hubby complimented his delicious Cuban caprese sandwich, a nice twist on the classic Cuban (which they have as well). My kids were both pleased with their meals (hot dog sandwich and grilled cheese sandwich) and with drawing on the big chalkboard wall. My mother-in-law enjoyed her sandwich too, but said it was so good she kept eating and perhaps should have saved some for later! The food was plentiful for the price. They were very accommodating to my gluten-free requests and even offered to do a sandwich with gluten-free bread. The food came very quickly to the table and on this day was delivered and taken away by the chef himself. It was our first time so I am not sure if that's how they always do it, but all of the staff were friendly and helpful.
Great place for breakfast or lunch. Lloyd, Amanda, and the rest of his staff take great care of you. Would highly recommend and sandwich here.
Today was my first visit and I love it here!!! The staff is so friendly and happy :) Lloyd recommended the "hot mess" sandwich and now I recommend it as well... it's so good!!!
Stopped in this morning for breakfast and we we're highly impressed! The ham/egg/cheese and sausage/egg/cheese sandwiches were amazing. They have a great menu and offer lots of homemade treats. The Happy Deli also sells great sauces/foods from Key West!
The owner and his staff were so nice and this spot is vmuch kid friendly with a chalk board wall for the kids to drawl on. A great little spot and we can't wait to try lunch! We will be back!
This is an awesome sandwich shop. And loyd is awesome always treats me well would and will eat again and again.
The food is very good and fresh. So worth a stop and eat visit.

Not only a great place to eat with delicious Cuban coffee, breakfasts, sandwiches, soups, salads, and dinner specials - the staff is absolutely outstanding as well. Papa Lloyd is blessed with a wonderful staff - Christine, Kim, Amanda, and Bob make us feel like part of the family and are always there to greet us with a smile and a helping hand! Thanks to everyone at Happy Deli.

I recently traveled to New Smyrna Beach for vacation and during the first day of travel all our group wanted was a nice sandwich for lunch and that's exactly what we got at the happy deli! This spot served fresh made sandwiches on delightfully fresh breads. Everything was delishious and left us feeling happy and healthy compared to eating drive through fried foods. Also, happy to see boars head meats in Florida from being a PA native! Keep on rockin'!!
Great food, really nice owner and servers.
Had lunch today, wow, baked brie with fig and crisp apple sandwich ..spinach salad with fried apple, cherries, nurs and gorgozola on top.....Delicious.
Had the pleasure to go in to pre open it is by far the best cornbeef I have had and the Matza Ball soup the best in area very nicely decorated staff was excellent something you have to try
I work next door at the Spa and I love eatting at the Happy Deli. The sandwiches are large and Delightful and I can't stay away from their homemade cookies. Lloyd and his staff are super nice and make such good food. Best Gem in town.

Awesome deli in Venetian Bay. Had a wonderful breakfast sandwich after biking down there. Loved the chalkboard wall and interactions with the friendly owner. I encourage those in NSB, Samsula, and Port Orange to check it out.
I had the Cuban sandwich. Best one I've had in a long time. Love the boards head meats, got to meet the owner, he works hard from what I could tell. Friendly guy. Glad I went, I will need to try the breakfast sandwiches soon. Thank you
The food here is consistently good. The ham, egg, & cheese sandwich here reminds me of my hometown. #Key West

We ate lunch today at this deli. I had "The Happy Wife" sandwich, which was fantastic. What a great place to eat. I'm looking forward to stopping here more often. Friendly people, well-staffed, good food, loved it!

Great sandwiches with plenty of choices. Love the small deli atmosphere along with the employees and customer service. We eat here at least once a week and we live 35 mins away.

Made in in an hour before they closed! Super friendly and awesome service. Ordered the Cuban Reuben and it was FANTASTIC! Ordered a cup of motzah ball soup as well and gotta say it's close to my Grandma's! Just to taste I also got a container of Coleslaw, and the ceasar salad pasta. Glad I google mapped deli while I'm in town. Definitely coming tomorrow to try the breakfast!

Love their hot mess sandwich/wrap! The first time I came here the wrap was outstanding. Second time not so much.. The sandwich lacked sauce and was a bit dry, but they were very busy and the staff were obviously stressed. Will be back again :)
