Came here for a birthday dinner and had an amazing experience! Upon entry, the staff were extremely kind and the decor was warm and inviting, decorated to mimic the fall foliage. They had an extensive wine and drinks list, but we opted for cocktails instead. The bar was able to make me a White Negroni that was spot on. The 6-course menu was simple but delicious, and everything was well prepared (a few minor plating issues but easily overlooked). My favorite was the duck; the most tender I’ve had this year and the skin was thin and crispy. We ended the night with the birthday dessert and espressos. Overall great experience, and would certainly come back in a different season to see how the restaurant decor and menu changes. Highly recommend.
Absolutely no doubt for 5 stars for everything.
We did the 4 course tasting menu for lunch and every single thing was perfection.
Firstly, getting reservations was relatively easy given it was holiday season. We were even able to call and move our slot to a time that wasn't shown on resy. We were running late (as usual nyc traffic) and everyone was courteous and accommodated a late lunch.
I'm vegetarian and my husband is not, so here's what we got for the seasonal 4 course menu.
1. Beet and chicory starter for both
2. Bass for husband, squash and chicory for me
3. Duck for husband, butternut squash fritters for me
4. Hazelnut tart for both
Everything was made to perfection. The sauces were the star in all dishes enhancing the flavors just right.
Best of all - warm potato rolls and butter. So amazing we got it twice!
I went to this restaurant to see my best friend who flew in from California. Wanted a special evening to spend time with her and celebrate milestones while enjoying good food and drinks.
We did not have a reservation but were seated promptly after arriving in the main dining room. Michael and Kumar were our server. The entire staff was kind and helpful. My friend and I both got the prix fixed seasonal menu where I opted for the morning glory cocktail and she, the wine pairing.
Food was served at a comfortable and fluid pace. In total, my friend and I tried 10 dishes. The wines paired with the menu was perfect and explanations were thorough.
Food was delicious!
By the end of the evening, we were given apple crumble bread as to go goodies. The bread, even after two days, was still flavorful, moist and delicious.
We came in for our anniversary celebration and did the seasonal tasting menu + wine pairing. The food is, of course, exceptionally good but not the innovative plates I was expecting at this price point. For almost every course, the wine was poured a bit too early from when the food arrived which felt disjointed. Finally, the decor didn’t suit my taste at all, the fall rustic style felt a bit dated for nyc. Overall great dining experience at a Michelin star, New York establishment. Good to check off your list at the very least.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner as is one of the best rated american cuisine restaurants currently. The menu was very well curated for Thanksgiving and I was completely surprised on the taste the manage to accomplish for the Turkey dish they were offering. The rest of the dishes were very good but no surprises there for a restaurant of this quality. A bit overpriced in my opinion
Gramercy Tavern is worth every bite you take. The flatbread provides a wonderful start to your meal with the different flavor profiles that are complemented by the char from the grill as well as the NEW roasted oysters that contain a nice crunch from the bread crumbs. They also have well educated sommeliers (Alvaro) who know exactly how to pair your burger or bass for entrees. Which he hit out of the park. As far as desserts go… there’s isn’t anything you can pick that would go wrong; the donuts are a MUST as well as the pudding cake. Those two are by far my two favorites & let’s not forget about their delicious hummingbird cake which was sent to us to celebrate my cousin’s birthday. Lastly, the hospitality and service was phenomenal. Everything was timed perfectly and all the staff was kind and generous. Shoutout to my lovely waitress Madison who is to adore inside and out. Thank you all for making my experience one to remember.
Gramercy Tavern was recommended to us by a friend and it did not disappoint!
To begin we were brought gluten free bread - it was THE BEST we have ever eaten- garlicky and crispy on top-and it did not stick to your ribs for the rest of the night!
We then had the steak tartare, veggie and dips to start. Alexis our server was so kind she brought us the duck fat chips so we could dip till our wee hearts were content. All plates were licked clean
For main courses we had the burger- my husband said it was THE BEST he has ever had! I had the pork shoulder and loved it!
For dessert we had the sundae and chocolate cake (again both gluten free) and delicious
To top it all off we loved the atmosphere and the service by Alexis and her team was great! So very glad we came and would highly recommend!
I've had this one on the list for a while, and I am glad I finally made it. The pull for me was the American NY style that I was looking for and Gramercy did not disappoint. The burger with duck fat was very tasty! I know it sounds funny to pay $30+ for a burger, but it truly was a delicious burger. One of the best things though, was the drink that I had. Normally I try to sample different things, however the Fall Classic became an instant favorite! You must try the Fall Classic, so simple and crisp, but gives you the right notes and vibes to compliment the NY fall season!
Cheers!
Overall very nice and memorable experience in the dining room. Arrived a little early and table wasn't ready until 15 minutes past reservation time. The tavern was very crowded, so that wasn't a great start. Graciously offered complimentary glass of sparkling wine when we were seated. We added the wine pairing to dinner. Have to say the first couple of courses were very slow to come out. First dish arrived 45 minutes after being seated. Then it was like 30 minutes for next couple of courses. But our glasses were refreshed when the food arrived. All of the dishes were delicious and unique. The squid ink pasta was our favorite. My partner and I should have ordered differently from each other to try more things. Specifically I wish I tried the Norwich Meadows Squash. I preferred the lamb over the duck, but my partner was the opposite. I don't think you can go wrong no matter what you order! Our server and sommelier were delightful. I fault no one for the slow speed. I think they were just exceptionally busy for the holidays and the tavern being packed.
Came here on Friday afternoon during Restaurant Week for a three course lunch menu.
First of all when you can smell fresh bread when you enter the venue, it usually is a good forecast for the rest of the meal - and that was the case here.
They start the service with a small bite of bread and homemade butter (delicious!). I followed it with marinated fluke (very delicate and fresh, on the verge of tasting under seasoned but still flavorful).
The main I chose was halibut with lemon sauce (fantastic) and the great experience finished strong with pistachio cookie and rose ice cream (could eat a pint of those easily).
An awesome experience, definitely live up to the hype!
