The food is really yummy. Staff is polite and friendly. The wait time is also not that much and the prices are reasonable. Will visit it again for sure.
Finger-licking good. My husband and I made an impromptu road trip to NYC for our first wedding anniversary. We've always loved Indian food in NYC (we are both South Asian with voracious appetites for our food) but had never tried Bengal Tiger. There was a bit of a lineup when we arrived after spending the afternoon in Central Park, but so worth it!! I had the chicken vindaloo and it was scrumptious. Love!
Visited the place on a recent business trip along with few non-asian friends The service was great .Water was continuously being served . Our order consisted of a few naans including a garlic naan and plain naan. The naan was so fluffy and tasted good .We also got some chicken tikka, veggie korma, and lamb korma. The food was loved by non-Indian friends however left me desiring for a bit more and what was served. This by no stretch means that food was worthy enough it was delicious but not as cooked as home delicious. Would defiantly recommend the place.

What a phenomenal gastronomicexperience and very welcoming staff. My fiance left feeling like royaltyafter his birthday dinner. The captainand sommelier were very attentive toall of our requests. Truly a unique NYexperience
Probably the best indian food I tasted during my 3 days stay in the New York City.
Except me others had chicken biryani and the smell of the biryani itself convinced me that it tasted beyond amazing and it did as per the reviews who had it gave me.
I had a paneer sabzi, roti and Vegetable biryani and everything was perfectly prepared.
Also the ambience is amazing.
The best ever samosa. It's tough to satiate the desi cravings in a foreign country. In the name of samosas you get all kind of experiments including the sadly microwaved ones. Here the crispy layer of samosa was thin, the masala way better than the indian versions and the size sumptuous. Other delicacies good too.
The only unnerving thing was a family with two kids to take the house on top of their lungs!! Guess some coloring charts crayons or other engaging stuff can be given to such kids...peaceful eating is more relishing.

Indian restaurants near central park ? We got you .
Located just 2 blocks from the central park , found this restaurant on the way from 'Trump tower' , dimly lit the place has a different feel with a dark background and fusion music playing in the restaurant.
The menu is quite small and don't have much to offer though they have a 3 course meal for 21$ , we went for lunch so we decided to order :
Paneer makhani (recommended) : this sabzi was great infact it had the right sweetness and good amount of paneer cubes in it , but the quantity is good enough for only 2 people.
Bread : we ordered onion, plain and garlic Naan's , all of them were good and soft and were served in 4 triangle shaped Naan's each.
Basically if you order sabzi and bread you get basmati rice complimentary so that's one good thing I liked here in NYC
I just stumbled at this place while hunting for a bite to eat. It is a very very small place on the first floor when the street below is replete with a lot of places to wine and dine. I was expecting something very seedy but was pleasantly surprised to see it filled to the brink and a nice, homely vibe.
After patiently waiting for a while, we were taken to our table. The wait staff is quite courteous and efficient. We opted for their set menu which is good enough for 2 to share. Their naans are indeed to die for - haven't had that quality much in India in fact. The paneer was soft and overall, it was quite a good food experience. Pretty easy on the pocket too!
I used to work near this place and would often stop by for lunch. I would recommend to go with a few friends or coworkers because there are some excellent combos and side dishes that would be great for sharing. Everyone was super friendly and the service was excellent. Their food was really delicious and spicy and lots of vegetarian options for me. My typical order was naan, rice, and vegetarian curry with some mango lassi on the side! The spices were excellent and it was very satisfying. I'm a huge fan of spice so this was definitely the place for me to go. The price was pretty decent and typical for what you would see around that area. I would definitely go back to this spot in the future!
A nice little place, serving decent Indian food in the busy midtown office areas. I had eaten there couple of times, both times opted for combo lunch. Food was very decent and adequately spiced. The portion sizes are great, and for me it was difficult to finish off the entire combo on both the occasions.
For the price paid, I felt the combos are super value for money (I would suggest not to go alone; go with someone else, order a lunch combo and a side dish and you can share).
And on both the occasions, found the music selection (the music played in the restaurant) as superb.
Delicious flavours and good variety of classic Indian dishes. Great service and charming ambiance. Would recommend Bengal Tiger to anyone in the area who's looking for a flavourful and enjoyable quick meal. Good value for the price. Lamb curry and chicken saag were both great. Would recommend both. Will the vindaloo next time as we were cautioned it was very hot.
The food was delicious. I wish the service were as good as this anywhere I went. Great experience.
Amazing restaurant! We were looking for a nice Indian restaurant to eat at our last full day here at NYC and chose to go here. From the outside, I thought it was going to be an okay small shop, not even close to a restaurant. But to my surprise, once I went up the stairs I was greeted with a smile and a vibe that was calm yet welcoming. We ordered their lunch special which includes naan, rice, and two choice of curries. (All the chicken and vegetarian dishes we ordered were great, if you can handle spicy food, the vindaloo is fantastic). The mango lassi reminded me of my childhood. Definitely check out this restaurant if you're craving some mouth watering Indian food!
Simply one of the best Indian restaurants in the city! There are no reservations, only walk-in so expect a wait depending on the time you come.
Pre-fix menu option is worth it to get a full tasting of what they have to offer. The apps are always well cooked, entrees really hit the spicy level I love and dessert was decent. You can also BYOB if you want to enjoy some drinks with your party.
The staff are also very kind and attentive. Highly recommend this place!

Really nice hidden Indian place. We went there for lunch and had their lunch menu. We ordered the Aloo Gobi Matar, the home style chicken curry and added some garlic naan. Everything was really good. Although we ordered medium spicy, we felt spicier than expected, but it was still good. The server kept coming with free ice cold water, which we really appreciated.
I have very little experience with Indian cuisine. This is a good choice. Even though I ate a lot of hot and spicy food, I did not have any stomach problems. I loved it a lot. It was very delicious. Portions are large and prices are reasonable.
Only the interior smelled too much. I can say this is the only minus point.
Absolutely delighted to stumble upon this hidden gem! The culinary experience was truly exquisite, with flavors that delighted our taste buds. A word of advice: brace yourself for their impressive spice levels. However, despite the intense heat, our dining party had nothing but praises for this outstanding establishment. The Kheema samosa and the lamb curry were our favourites. We will definitely come back.
I love love love their food. I work across the street and treat myself time and again. The staff is very nice and accommodating. FOOD IS DELICIOUS, huge portions, I will eat for days off of one order-which makes pricing really very good. The Samosas are the size of a fist and the best I’ve ever had. The tandoori bread is also humongous and also the best. Ok literally it’s all the best. I don’t even usually really like mango chutney, but I love theirs! Wanna try the honey dumplings in rose water next!
Got a chicken biryani. The taste was average I would say. Tasted more like a one pot rice, subtle and nice. Quantity is good for two people. Costs about $18.
The keema (lamb) samosa was maybe the best samosa I’ve ever had! It came with only 1 but a large sized samosa, filled with juicy flavorful meat & peas. Such good flavor with the sauce. The chicken makhani (butter chicken) was good; regular spice level, or 4/10, was the perfect mild spicy level. Chicken was the tiniest bit dry inside and the rice portion could’ve been larger to match the chicken, but it tasted good. The rasmalai was delicious; again wish the portion was a little bigger but it was very good, and you can taste the rose and pistachio. The service is excellent, friendly and super fast with your order, and they refill your water constantly. Also love the paintings on the walls. The $25 3-course meal was perfect for two, only kinda hungry, people to split.
Surprisingly cheap prix fixe option at $25 for an app, a main, and a dessert.
For the app, I really liked the Keema (lamb) samosa, it was flavourful and tasty. They have a lot of options for the main dish, and I've tried the korma and curry dishes. I really liked the chicken korma the first time I got it, but the second time I wasn't as impressed. The spice levels also seem a bit inconsistent. The first time I visited, I asked for medium spice and it was really good, although quite spicy. The second time, I ordered the korma again and asked for "regular" spice, which turned out to be different from medium spice, because I could barely taste the spice and I thought the dish was a bit bland as a result. They have really interesting desserts, and while I was happy to try them, I wasn't a huge fan of any one of their three desserts, and I only had a few bites.
Unfortunately they don't take reservations and there are sometimes lines, especially for larger groups. The first time I came here with a group of five for dinner, we waited 20 minutes. The second time I visited there was no line.
Amazing Indian food tucked away in a cozy second floor restaurant. Great prix fixe deal, three courses for $25! Best vegetable samosa I’ve ever had. Highly recommend!
Very good food with affordable pricing (especially for NYC) and large portions. Staff were also very friendly and attentive. Wait can get long but definitely recommend!
Got here at 5pm on a Saturday and the wait was already 30mins. This place doesn't take reservation (contrary to what some of the reviews said) so definitely recommend getting here early or get take out. They also don't take your phone number so you just have to wait by the restaurant.
We got the 3 course prix fixe, which includes an appetizer, entree, and dessert for $25. The Keema Samosa (minced lamb and pea turnover) and Pakora (onion and spinach fritters) starters we got were good but nothing extraordinary. But the Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Vindaloo entrees were really good and one of the best I've had. Portions are also deceptively large as they are served in a small bowl.
1 thing to note is the spice level. The "normal" Tikka Masala is considered 4 out of 10 but honestly didn't taste spicy at all. If you like spicy food, I recommend at least a 6 or 7. The Lamb Vindaloo was a 9 out of 10, which had a pretty good kick but still enjoyable for me. For comparison, I think the lamb is on the same spice level as chipotle hot (red) sauce.
We also got 1 plain and 1 garlic naan. The plain one was just ok but the garlic one was pretty good so definitely recommend one of the "special" naans.
For desser, we had the Gulam Jamun (honeyed dumplings), which was expectedly very sweet and might not be for everyone, and the Kheer (cashew nut rice pudding), which was much better and not as sweet.
Also recommend the mango lassi, which was really good and not too sweet.
