Amazing service and amazing food! I took my cousins from out of town to come tour around the city, and I decided to let them try some Italian food and we went to Carmine's. Our waitress Amanda was very helpful, patient and kind to our service!! The calamari is delicious and the ir pastas are to die for. Highly recommend coming here!!
Great portion of food great customer service love the atmosphere I will always recommend Carmines for family events or just because love it
My go to place for lunch when I’m working on the upper west side. Friendly staff and great food , what more can you ask for. They even have a cot in the back for that quick nap 😉 if you eat to much..,
Enjoy!!
The best food and service restaurant!!! I highly recommend it!!!
The food was excellent, service was spot on. They anticipated fresh drinks, knew when the next course needed to come out. Highly recommend.
Excellent food, service. The waiter are attentive. Their food portions are family sized. Amazing dishes. Five stars in my book.

Salmon Oregenatto, PURE PERFECTION!!
My family & I have been coming here for years.
Always a hit....
We just walked out of the Majestic Theatre after watching "The phantom of the opera" and were starving! We saw this Italian place on the way and decided to go in, but the gentleman at the door said it was a 45 minute wait. Disappointed, we turned to walk out, when another gentleman said there were two seats at the bar up stairs. If we did mind the bar. When we got up stairs the place was packed. The bartender got us menus and drinks. We order the calamari and garlic bread. When we got our food we quickly noticed that we need at least two more people. Wow! Everything was served in platters, not plates! The calamari was the freshest and softest I have ever had. Not rubbery like other places and the bread was fantastic! We will be back, but with more friends next time. This is a must if you love Italian food!
The Spaghetti and meatballs is the best, the sauce is not to tangy, but just the right amount of tanginess mixed with the perfect amount of sweetness. The meatballs are seasoned to perfection and cooked very well to not be too rubbery textured. The garlic bread is great, not too garlicky but very flavorful. I got the salad also, which was very fresh, and the different veggies in it worked beautifully together. For dessert, the tiramisu was delicious, with nice creaminess and tasty coffee flavor. The Merlot was a bit tart to me, but probably because the dessert was so sweet, but it was still very good. I give this five stars for the service and the friendliness of the staff. The waiter kept checking to make sure everything was good with our meal and made sure we were completely satisfied.
Wow! Unbelievably fantastic! That should be enough said but when in Manhattan. It is a must to go. There is a lot of great Italian food in NY. A lot. Try them all. Carmine’s is a go to for me. Portion size ridiculous. Dinner for two and we had enough for 20. Very reasonable for the amount and quality you will receive.
A must visit, New York institution. Cosy, rustic interior with friendly welcoming wait staff. We had the spaghetti with meatballs & the veal scaloppine with lemon & butter. I can’t begin to describe how delicious both were after a very long day exploring the city. Family style & served up to each of us by our waiter which was a lovely touch. Highly recommend for some comforting Italian food.
Salmon was amazing! This family style restaurant is a tourist spot. I also enjoyed their calamares and its very interesting how they maintained its interiors.. looks kinda historical inside, very Itallian.
A must visit place of you wish to relish authentic Italian cuisine. I tried the vegetarian options in appetizers and main course, all of which were lip-smacking. A word of caution.. the meal portions served here are huge ...
Carmine's, Carmine's.😉 a great place for family and friends. Huge selection of food. Great place for kids my nephew really enjoyed his pasta.👌🏼 well in fact everybody enjoyed our meal. The serving portion is good to share, its really a lot! Keep it up!👍🏼
Carmines Italian Restaurant located at 200 West 44th Street New York, NY 10036 is the place to go! There decor is extravagant, their staff is extremely friendly and their menu is mouth watering. The experience of the chefs is top notch, delivering fresh quality food each time you visit. Their menu is quite extensive including the following categories: appetizers, pasta, veal, chicken, seafood, beef, vegetables & sides as well as desserts. The portions are large, ensuring that you will be leaving the restaurant with tons of leftovers for the following day! (or even a midnight snack) For an appetizer, I ordered both the fried calamari and stuffed mushrooms. They were both cooked to perfection and were fabulous. For my main entrée, I had a Caesar salad with chicken marsala in a creamy sauce over linguini pasta. The portion of the main entrée was HUGE! I could not even finish a quarter of my plate. And of course, I had to leave room for desert. I ordered a cappuccino with my favorite dish, tiramisu. It was hands down the best tasting tiramisu I have ever experienced. I am a regular customer, visiting Carmine's each time I am in the city. I can assure you, the food is an addiction. If you eat there once, I can guarantee you there will be a second, third and tenth time!

The first thing that you'll notice when you enter the restaurant is the atmosphere and the ambience. It's just amazing! My colleagues from Scholastic Inc. and I had gone for dinner and it was one of the best Italian meals that we've ever had. We had Veal Parmigiana on angel hair pasta along with garlic bread and meatballs. Everything from the cooking of the veal and the pasta to the meatballs was just perfect. We also had the Shrimp Fra Diavolo which was also very good. We had the Strawberry Shortcake and the Tiramisu for dessert. The Tiramisu is amazing but the Strawberry Shortcake was the unanimous favorite of everyone. It was truly delectable. The portion size is huge and is enough for a group of 4 people. The service is also impeccable. Overall we had an excellent time and would definitely visit this restaurant again!

Word has it that food at the legendary family-style Carmines is meant for sharing. While waiting for my friends to arrive at the original uptown location, I perused the dining room as it was my first time there. My eyes fixated on a couple with a platter of pasta so big, it almost didn’t fit the small table. To say that the portions of Carmine’s Italian foods are gargantuan is an understatement.
Definitely this is a MUST visit if you are in Manhattan.Ideal for coming in a friends group or with The family.Good Italian food, large portions so you can perfectly share, good ambience specially at Christmas Time!
Nice family style restaurant in the upper west , a must visit for me every time i am in Manhattan , also an all time favourite of my wife .
Giant size helpings ,on my last visit , leftovers from an order of 2 starters and 2 mains kept the three of us fed for the next two days , great Italian sausage and wonderful meatballs , , one of my most preferred eating places in the upper west . But better to go as a part of a large group .
Enjoy
Fun for a big group. Family style dining which is always a good time for a big group. When it got crowded, however, the service got a little slow and it gets very loud. The fried calamari appetizer and penne pasta in vodka sauce are must haves.
The Bread...ahhh the bread!. This place is huge, the food is fantastic and the staff is great! Plentiful portions, the stuffed shells are very good and the deserts are with the wait through all of the dinner selections! And yes, the bread crusty, warm and great for soaking up all that good red sauce!
My NYC "must stop". My brother and I seem to end having lunch at Carmine's every time I'm in NYC. I am becoming addicted to the calamari sauce. Tender pieces of calamari in the midst of roasted garlic bathed in red sauce over pasta.......Yes, we need to feed our addiction. Great food in a nice atmosphere with effecient service tops off the experience.
Awesome Italian!!. Great food! Great atmosphere! Great Service! Give it a try if your on the UWS. Been going here for a while and the staff is friendly and very full of personality and spunk. Never a dull moment. Their portions are huge and large enough to split b/w 2-4 people. There's less hustle and bustle at this location than @ their midtown location. Either location, I def. recommend Carmine's!
A must when in NY. When in the Big Apple Carmine's is a must for me. I love garlic and Italian food, Carmine's offers these in spades. My first experience was in 2005 and I have been back 3 times since never to be disappointed. The only downside is getting sloshed in the bar waiting for a table and not getting to enjoy the food to its fullest.
Cyber Diner thumbs up.
"Good, but growning long in the tooth". This is a true Family style Restaurant, the place has all the standards you know and have grown to love. I wish they have more meatless sauces. Very pricey for pasta but big portions are a saving grace, for this landmark, the menu could be updated for this old school Italian Restaurant.
Like being in Italy. Wonderful, delicious and sinful Italian food served family style. Gnocchi was amazing as were to portobello mushrooms. Went there a few times and always was satisfied.
Folksy at home. I live in Ottawa Canada. Make a point of attending this place when in NY. The serving a very large. Meant for 3 or more. The provide side plates with the main platters so that one can take smaller portions and share with companions. Home cookings style. Sweet sausages are fabulous. The mini-canole for desert are winners if one still has room for desert. This place is large but fills quickly during peak hous. Go during off hours or make a reservation.
This place is a bit pricey, but the portions are large. The fried calamari is great, and the garlic bread is awesome!
Great family style place on the UWS. The chicken wings are among the best in the city. Also try the fried calamari for an appetizer. We had the Chicken Parmesan, Penne Vodka and a delicious porterhouse steak. The portions are huge. You'll leave with a smile on your face and a plethora of doggie bags. Be sure to try the Titanic for dessert. Great spot for large groups. Friendly staff makes it a fan favorite.
Best chicken park in uws..hands down!!
This was one of the best Italian food places I've ever dined at. The portions are amazingly big! The Vodka Sauce Pasta dish was delicious! The salad was tasty and fresh! The variety of included bread was mouth watering. The service was pretty good. I enjoyed my dining experience here and the location was perfect before seeing our Broadway show.

We made reservations & were still seated 15 after our reservations. The crowd was lively & out right loud.
The service was excellent. The wait staff was attentive & friendly.
The food is served family style, so we had food to take home. The food was delicious as always.
Stopped by here before catching a Broadway show. Food was delicious, served family style. We had the lasagna and it was hearty, meaty, cheesy goodness. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice family meal at fair prices in NYC
Wow! This Italian restaurant really made my evening. Food was delicious; taste, texture, spiciness, saltiness, presentation were all on point. Service by Arturo was personalized, friendly and he was at hand to answer questions and make recommendations. Very patient. Ambience at this location was perfect for a cool July evening.
As anywhere in NY, parking is an issue. But it was worth it. Would definitely be back.
Wow this place was truly amazing! The dishes are true Family style! HUGE plates of food, the dishes the sauces the flavors unbelievable. My husband and I went last night for our 7 year anniversary and it was just so cool so old and nostalgic and very busy even on a Monday night! That says a lot about a restaurant… Please be mindful when I tell the dishes are huge it’s shareable atleast for 4 people for one meal. Anyways my husband and I ordered the chicken parmigiana, the lasagna which was the best because my husband and I are Muslim we ( don’t eat pork) and every Italian spot always has pork in almost everything so when we got told the lasagna was made with beef and veal.. we were so excited and happy to finally be able to try lasagna then I had the Sicilian soda the pomegranate flavor which was okay not the best wouldn’t try it again then for dessert we had the strawberry shortcake with homemade whipped cream and strawberries with pistachios and marble pound cake soaked in strawberry purée! WOW DELICIOUS!!!! Overall it was a great experience and environment definitely highly recommended!
This place is a fantastic Italian restaurant! 🇮🇹 Carmine's Italian Restaurant 🍽️ on the Upper West Side 🗽 serves an unbelievable selection of delicious 🤤 pasta 🍝 dishes, chicken 🐔, veal 🐄, seafood 🦐, clams 🦪, salads 🥗, and desserts! 🍰 Definitely try the Chicken🐓 Parm 🧀 and Pasta Bolognese! Here it's all about the family-style dining 🍴 - so portion sizes are huge! Staff 👨🍳 is super friendly and professional and the service is impeccable. This spot is beautifully decorated 🛋️, service is quick ⏲️, and ambience 🎶 is great! I wish I came here more often and that they had Fusilli shaped pasta!
Today was the first time at the Upper West Side location and my family and I were not disappointed. The restaurant has a very nice ambiance and warmth to it. The staff was very friendly, professional, and attentive. The food of course is the real star and man it was delicious!
We started with the Mixed Salad which was amazing. The bread basket and olive oil was so flavorful! Then we ordered spaghetti with garlic and oil, chicken cutlet, and chicken with lemon sauce and spinach. All of the food was just out of this world. Will def be back!!!! Next time I hope we save room for dessert!
Everything about this restaurant was stupendous. It's one of my top restaurants listed by far. Also, I was intrigued by the history shown throughout the restaurant.
A round of applause 👏🏾 to the staff (they worked effortlessly on a busy night) and the chefs 👏🏾
FYI: Dish sharing is a plus. Unless you're willing to have leftovers for days.
At first, I was quiet skeptical about the food here. But, after everything I ate, I must say this place is a gem. Food is very authentic and everything was seasoned well. I love everything we ordered here starting from the bread, clams and pastas. They were very delicious 🤤
I’m coming back for sure.
I have not been to this location before. They have family style portion plates. The food was delicious and the drinks were fantastic. The location was spacious, and the server was on his A game. Will definitely recommend and return again.
Old school family style Italian food. Big portions, great service. I bring lots of out-of-town guests here for that experience. If I had to say one negative thing would be it's a little to much salt.... But still rate it high!!
First time here. The food was served in huge family portions. I ordered the Ragu and stuffed mushrooms and it was really good.
Everything was great!!!! The food and service were amazing!!! But I do advise that you make reservations before you go.
Everything was huge and delicious. We ordered the calamari to start. It was fresh and crispy. The chicken parmigiana was delicious. We loved the shrimp scampi. The shrimp were huge, the sauce was buttery and the noodles were al dente.
It was a very busy Friday night in June. Everyonr had a birthdays, graduation and just because for celebration, which made the dining experience challenge. The drinks were just "ok". Had better at the neighborhood bar. The food was great. It always is. But unfortunately the service was slow. Though our hostess took care of us as best she could. They might consider having 2 ppl on a large table. 🤔
It was my sister-in-law's birthday. Food was great!! Richard, the waiter was amazing! I would have given 5 stars but some of drinks were watered down.
