Best place to eat before seen a Broadway show!
Beautiful restaurant inside. Our server her name is Emily M and she was phenomenal! The food was fantastic and we all ate very well. Doesn't look much from the outside but when you go inside it is totally awesome. They really know how to take care of their guest!
The food were just beautiful, the best turkey sandwiches we ever had and the chocolate cake was just to die for and it's good value for quality food
Best meal we had during our stay!
My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to ABC Kitchen. Great selection of cocktails and beverages, food was fantastic and our sever was extremely friendly. Atmosphere was bustling and offered an authentic NYC experience. Would definitely go back again!

Just amazing. To start with the presentation of the menu decorated with this purple flower. The tomato gazpacho is very well spiced and the smell is extremely delicious. The raspberry dessert amazingly melty and tasty. You cannot stop eating. Highly recommended 👍👍👍👍
ABC Kitchen was recommended by some friends in London. It also came with the tagline “we can never get a table there” – so my advice to you would be to book in advance! To paint a picture as to how popular this place was, we booked a table on a Wednesday (not even a weekend) for their first slot at lunchtime and in less than an hour the place was full with a queue out of the door.
While I travelled to nyc on New Years I thought I’ll review a few of my favourite restaurants there.
ABC kitchen is one my favourite places to eat at.
They have a farm to table concept. Everything is so clean and amazing. Each bite going in to your mouth is like magic.
I had a exotic mushroom and a farm egg pizza which actually gave me a chills. It was magic.
Also had ravioli stuffed with ricotta and spinach. With some tomato sauce and covered with Parmesan. I had two words after taking my first bite which I shouldn’t say at this portal. In short I was speechless it was so good. Also had their house lemonade with vodka. Was superb.
The ambience was amazing too. Very white very serene. Very natural. Kudos to the team. Love.

Faultless!!! Service was the best we have received since arriving in the USA . The food was perfectly cooked and all flavours worked so well together. The decor is so warm and just perfect .. highly recommend this restaurant. Caramel ice cream dessert was a standout, and I don't normally eat dessert ✅✅
Farm to table in shabby chic style. This restaurant focuses on local and organic foods. When seated, it is dark and loud, but the food speaks for itself. The flavours and combination mix well together and is served with flair. Had the crab toast which was simple in look but loaded with fresh flavour. My dining companions had the sea bass and the mushroom pizza. The fish was not overcooked and worked well with the sides. The runny egg on the pizza really brought out the meaty flavour of the mushroom. I had the fried chicken. The hot butter sauce and collard greens when mixed in, really worked with the chicken. If you have food restrictions due to allergies or are pregnant, choices are limited, but worth trying.
These guys talk a big game regarding their super fresh ingredients, but they walk the walk and you can really taste the difference. Simple and fresh flavors speak for themselves and they don't over-do it. All the food looked amazing, we had the crab toast, salmon and a pasta special. I just wish I'd had room for dessert! Great ambiance & service. Will try to come back soon.
Everything was perfect every time I went to ABC Kitchen. The decoration and the environment are great, the service is flawless, the food is amazing.
We always shared all our appetizers, main dishes and desserts, so I had the chance to try a lot of things - salad, fish, sundae, etc.
I recommend the Roast Carrot and Avocado Salad and the Salted caramel Ice Cream Sundae (best dessert ever!). The pizzas are also fantastic, and the tuna sashimi is delicious.
The kitchen/staff even brought us some little complements, which was really nice.
I think I can say this is my favourite restaurant in NYC...
Hope to be back soon!
Was taken to this restaurant by a friend for dinner. Amazing fresh, seasonal produce, transformed into delicious bites. Must try the raw scallops, beetroot salad and butternut squash on toast - in saying that though, everything we had was really tasty.
I went ABC Kitchen for lunch and I had the lunch menu which was more than enough for one person. I had the lentil soup (starter) and crispy skate salad (main course) but the best part of lunch was the dessert: Salted Caramel Ice Cream Sundea!
ABC Kitchen just might be one of my favorite restaurants. I’m not a huge fan of the Jean-Georges empire but I think he hit this one out of the ballpark!
ABC Kitchen is Vongerichten’s high-end ode to the whole locavore movement that has New York City in a tizzy. Housed in the gorgeously whimsical ABC Carpet and Home store, the restaurant’s setting is farmhouse shabby chic.
But lets get to the best part – the food! They serve the best crab toast I have ever eaten. This grilled toast, is heaped with mounds of fresh peek toe crab drizzled with olive oil and lemon aioli. It is a stunning dish!
I also tried the Wood Roasted Lobster which was superb too, as was their herbed pizza. All of this stupendous food is served by a young but impeccable staff, dressed in cute little plaid shirts, jeans and converse sneakers.
The one thing that failed to impress was the dessert. Nothing I tried blew me away. But after a meal like that…I still walked away really satisfied!!
Oh my. Hands down one of my favorite restaurants. Excellent service and what a beautiful ambiance! It looks super classy in pictures and though it is, there is also a very comfortable not-snobby feel when you're inside. The food is very fresh, and from my friend who has been a fan for years, he told me this place is one of the original farm to table restaurants before it became a trend. Certainly not your ordinary salads and even the roasted carrot from the salad will wow you.
I can't wait to come back and try their brunch!
After hearing a lot about this place I decided to go and try it, and I wasn't disappointed. Everything is pleasant about this place: food portions, quality, taste, interior design, and service. Would recommend it
I hate to admit it, because there is so much hype and pretension, but it has been my favorite restaurant in NYC for a while. I've had my birthday dinners here the past two years mainly because I'm obsessed with the decor/ambience, and the food is consistently great. It's got that DIY shabby chic vibe. So many menu options. Some of my favorites: seasonal pizzas, CRAB TOAST, Akashi burger, and turkey sandwich. All pictured here. When I go, I almost always have had to make a reservation on open table a month in advance. But if you walk in during the week for lunch it's pretty easy to get a table.
Amazing food ! Crab Toast & the Roasted Carrots with Avocado Salad were delicious!
The Sea Bass was light with Crispy skin. The Crispy Pork Confit was very tender and moist. Also great service! Highly recommend this place. Be sure to make reservations in advance!
Top rating for atmosphere. Relaxing space with low lighting and stylish, inspiring touches. Food was good - loved the pea soup. Service was attentive. Sarah Jessica Parker was seated next to us.
Very good brunch!. Came here with a couple of friends for the recommended Sunday brunch. It was pretty impressive!
I certainly enjoyed the chicken and Belgian waffle. Chicken was tender and not too filling, and the waffle was just right. I admit, I did not have any mimosas, but the company I was with was raving about them!
Such great whole wheat pizza!. Pretty cool location, and the waitstaff was great.
I savored the whole wheat pizza I ordered, with asparagus, crispy bacon and riccota and parmesan cheeses. The sweet pea soup appetizer was seasoned very well and also recommended.
Very rustic feel to the décor, with uneven pillars and light colored walls, accented with lovely chandeliers.
I loved the veggie falafel burger the first time I was there, which is what got me hooked. During my last visit, I had Roasted Kabucha Squash with Ricotta and Apple Cider Vinegar, which as a nice mix of sweet and savory flavors. The Brussel Sprouts Pizza is highly recommended, getting a little kick from jalapenos and garlic, and the side of wood-oven roasted Sunchokes were really great. I've talked about my experience in more detail on my blog, so do check it out.
The salted caramel sundae is absolutely worth trying, though I didn’t have much room for it that day.
Amazing food. Cool restaurant, love the ambiance, not to mention the commitment to sustainability. U ordered the roasted portobello and the tuna sashimi. That first bite of the portobello was heaven. The sashimi was melt in your mouth with incredible flavor. My husband ordered their turkey sandwich with bacon and jalapeño and said it was very tasty. They also had some delicious non alcoholic beverage options, which we appreciate since we don't drink. Good service, overall terrific experience.
Fantastic!. We ate at ABC Kitchen on two days for brunch and lunch and both were outstanding! The meals and drinks are fantastic, and all so flavoursome and tastefully presented. The service is also very good, some of the best received in the city. Lunch was great I highly recommend the carrot and avocado salad (best we have had) However brunch was AMAZING! We often have brunch out and it is good, however ABC Kitchen is so reasonably priced and excellent value for money! The pancakes and soft scrambled eggs were both outstanding and probably the best brunch meals we have ever had! Our two experiences here were faultless and the restaurant definitely lived up to their hype! FANTASTIC!

Quite Possibly My Favorite Meal Ever. The moment I saw the menu for ABC Kitchen, I knew I had to eat there. Absolutely every drink and course was spot-on, whereas there is usually something that misses the mark. Among the things we tried, the kabocha squash toast, roasted pear salad, line-caught tuna sashimi, mushroom pizza, butternut squash side, and the sundae dessert were amazing. The atmosphere in the restaurant is awesome, and the service was attentive without being over-bearing. Loved it!
Its the ABC of great food. Confortable cozy delicious unpretentious, you walk out of this place feeling happy!
Possibly the best French toast in New York City!
I went here for Brunch... What a great, raw, eclectic space. Food options were multiple, tastes where delicious. Nice wine/drink options available. Great afternoon.
Chic, organic, good food and service
Not to be missed.. A incredible evening, wonderful food and a fantastic ability to combine flavors. From the squash toast and beats with homemade yogurt, through to the salted caramel sundae, everything was perfect.
Very special thanks to Ross, who took amazing care of us.
Lobster lunch? Yes please!. Had a foodie friend visiting and it was a great excuse to make New Years Eve lunch plans at ABC Kitchen. I had past unsuccessful instances of trying to book on opentable for dinner reservations so to be extra cautious I booked online about 3 days in advance for lunch for 3. No problems with the reservation and they did not have any NYE prix fixe lunch sets to deal with.
The food was great, we shared about 5 appetizers between the 3 of us, and then entrees - olive plate, meat and cheese platter (special treat of raw honey!), pretzel crusted calamari (was savory and not tough like other coated calamari can be), tuna sashimi (very good), pear & endive salad (well done - typical though). Entrees -- cauliflower soup (very good, rich without being too dairy laden), baked lobster (highly recommend, will be getting this next time, succulent and lacking that rubbery/tough texture that means its overcooked), chicken sandwich (fries were mediocre, luckily we had lots of other tasty options to negate them).
For dessert we all split the sundae, yum. Just get the sundae, no need to explain. You will understand.
The by the glass wine list is okay, nothing spectacular. But for lunch - I felt their offerings were lovely. Will definitely be back again to try dinner.
Ambiance - very much enjoyed the "wrapped" edison bulb fixtures and the minimalist photography artwork. Well done.
Great meal, after a long wait.... Every dish was terrific, once we were seated (45 minutes after our reservation time) and waited on (15 minutes after being seated). Our wait person (and three other wait staff) turned their attention to the celebrity and his pals sitting next to us and we had to ask if it was her intention to simply ignore us.
After that bit of unpleasantness, the rest of the evening was very enjoyable.
Favorite appetizer...the fluke sashimi.
LOVE. Not only was the hype correct about this place, but it was not hyped enough. I haven't really been surprised by a small place in years. Go check this place out for yourself.
Meal of a Lifetime.... Have you ever had a meal that literally made you simultaneously enraptured, sentimental, proud, reflective, and satisfied? A dinner that amuses each of the senses in both familiar and untapped dimensions? One that transports you to a not-so-long-ago time of digging holes in the backyard garden of your childhood home with a plastic shovel, tearing open packets of turnip seeds, and staring in awe at the beauty of the wedding band on your mother's hand speckled with topsoil, as she tenderly pats the ground tucking in the unborn vegetables? A meal that makes your chest swell up that you were brave enough to cram your few belongings into a white rental minivan, and drive across the country with your kid brother to move into your very first New York City apartment to pursue your far-fetched dreams, even though every single thing that had ever brought you comfort was now in the thirsty midwestern dust cloud settling behind you? A particular restaurant that you know exists no where else, and though thousands will plan entire trips around sampling its menu, for you it was only short ride from your apartment in a yellow cab, and for that you couldn't be more proud to live in this city of culinary creativity and brilliance?
ABC Kitchen is the few-week-old restaurant in ABC Home, and newcomer in the trend towards being sustainable and green (even the menus are backed with pieces of recycled cardboard shipping cartons), featuring a market-driven menu that's just about as farm-to-table as you could get in the heart of such an urban giant.
Our meal was beyond superb, offered something unique to each of the six friends gathered at our table, inspired wonderful conversation and laughter, and left each of us dumbfounded at the brilliance of cocktails, pressed juices, hors d'oeuvres, main plates, and sweet endings that wrapped us in the familiarity of a favorite blanket, yet inspired us to see those ingredients we've always known through a new filter of creativity.
I LOVE this place. if I have one meal in NY, this is it. But the vibe is better for brunch and lunch because decor is all white, bright and happy. Whenever I book a trip to NY, I immediately book ABC Kitchen. It’s the type of place you go back again and again and the food always tastes even better than you remember. I was running late and my friend mentioned to the manager how excited we were to have their crab toast. The manager said they were running low and maybe out, and I got a panicked text from my friend…… I dream of their crab toast and have often tried to order similar. He saved us two toasts, but then the table next to us was almost in tears when they were told that they were out…so in the spirit of the holidays…we shared and gave them one. What we ate: CRAB TOAST: Of course, crispy, perfect in every way. Hard to describe, just go try it! Roasted beets with yoghurt: fresh and perfect. Creamy with the yoghurt, indulgent without the gilt Beets Pizza special with fresh ricotta,
So, your parents are visiting you in NYC in 2 weeks and instruct you to make brunch, lunch or dinner reservations… what do you do? Immediately go to Opentable and make a reservation at ABC Kitchen.
Why it’s worth it: This ‘straunt is located at the ABC Carpet & Home department store, which means you can browse trendy chandeliers and other items before heading to the bar…but back to the restaurant, this is how I would like to eat at my fancy country house, if I had a fancy country house.
Vibe/layout: The vibe is organic and Hamptons, airy, open and relaxed. The theme is sustainability, as most things on the menu come from local suppliers; the menus are made from recycled paper, the dun-colored place mats are compostable and after closing time, all leftovers are sent off to the compost heap. Everything, including the antique armoires, reclaimed-wood tables, clay dishware, chandeliers and wildflower table settings are gathered from local artisans in CT, NY and NJ.
Ideal meal:
I’m so happy that ABC Kitchen lived up to my high expectations. Kiyo also really enjoyed it, but thought that it was overpriced, especially since this type of food isn’t hard to find in Manhattan. I agree that it’s too expensive (salad: $16, fried chicken: $30, burger: $24) but I still had a wonderful time and was not disappointed by anything. The steep price will just keep this restaurant in the category of “for special occasions.”
I’ve had a Jean-Georges cookbook for years – and I never knew who this man was until fellow foodies Manh and Naomi invited Miranda and I to ABC Kitchen in New York. The location is hidden behind some tired and distressed white doors. I think that is on purpose because everything about ABC Kitchen is all about organic, locally sourced, reclaimed materials and everything else “Portlandia” when possible. The bar is long and hip, loaded with many who couldn’t get a table or waiting for their table. The dining area reminds me of a clear summer night and looking up into the stars as strands of lights illuminated above. The exposed ceiling doesn’t hide the rustic wooden beams and partially rusted piping. Tastefully dotted with spot lights one can’t help but think of starlight. It’s pretty romantic, but it is cut short by the hustle of the wait staff and the noise of other diners. I’ve had items on the lunch and dinner menu and each time did not dis

Posted by NYCGrubber on Dec 7, 2010 in gluten free grubbing | 0 comments Listed as one of Esquire Magazine’s best new restaurants, ABC Kitchen certainly lived up to my expectations. Not only is the food freshly shipped from local farmers and markets, it is organic as well. Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Phil Suarez co-create visually appealing and palate pleasing dishes. I started off with the crab toast and butternut squash with ricotta cheese toast. Butternut Squash Toast: photo taken from nymag.com It is hard to choose a winner since they were both two completely different tastes, but I’d have to give my nod to the butternut squash toast. My entree with a split between the spinach and goat cheese omelet and the french toash. The french toast was phenomenal. Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and insanely flavored throughout. One of the best french toasts I have ever had. And now for dessert……… …caramel ice cream with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, n
Nearly everything we ate was great or better. ABC Kitchen needs to be in the discussion for best restaurants in New York, especially among those you can eat at for under $100/person.
While the environment here is more casual than some of Jean-Georges' other restaurants, the food plays second to none. Our reservation was for 9:30,

The food at ABC Kitchen may be simple at first glance yet it is incredibly sophisticated in the end.
I have been around for some pretty earth-shaking experiences. And I am lucky to say that I dined at ABC Kitchen the night that it won the James Beard Foundation Award for Best New Restaurant.. The exuberance of the staff, the joy that resonated around the dining room, the applause that kept bursting forth from different tables... Of course, the night didn't start like that. It started like any old night out. ABC Kitchen is Jean-Georges ' ode to the locavore movement. Everything here is local, seasonal and/or organic, and the restaurant has been getting rave reviews since it opened in 2010.
ABC Kitchen is part of the department store ABC Home. There have been other restaurants in this space, though none I have visited.
(T)his little eco friendly, earth loving restaurant performs just as well as its other “environmentally non-conscious” cousins.

ABC Kitchen just might be my new favorite restaurant. I'm not a huge fan of the Jean-Georges empire but I think he hit this one out of the ballpark!
Understandably, reservations for a place like this can be really tough. But I managed to snag one for noon today! There is a special lunch prix menu, but neither of us were hungry enough to order from it I went with a salad of Roasted Beets, Housemade Yogurt Abe ordered a pizza - the most expensive one on the menu…
Tucked inside ABC Carpet & Home is an amazing new restaurant, ABC Kitchen . Created by Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Phil Suarez, ABC Kitchen has taken repurposed, recycled, natural and organic to new heights. You can enter the restaurant either through t
Dear Food Diary: The other day my old women's group met up after years for a girls night out. Naturally I was the one to pick a place and Jean George's abc kitche n has been on my mind. I thought the girls would appreciate their local and organic affair.
I asked myself whether I could avoid the Jackson 5 references while writing up ABC Kitchen - clearly the answer there was a resounding no . Regardless of the Michael-reminiscent name, Jean-Georges' new all-natural venture in ABC Home is down-right spectac
We enjoyed a fabulous brunch here. The atmosphere is wonderful. Beautifully designed. The food was amazing. Truly the best cheeseburger I ever had in my life. The turkey sandwich was delicious as well. I recommend the calamari appetizer as well. The dipping sauce was so tasty!
Beautiful restaurant for brunch with friends! I loved the mushroom pizza, baked beets and roasted carrot salad. Amazing desserts - chocolate layer cake, carrot cake are my favorites! Beautiful interior!
Great food and service in a lovely space. The straciatella with shaved truffle was delicate and delicious. The savory stuffed squash with pomegranate was delicious. The seasonal donuts were very tasty. The espresso and coffee were excellent. The outstanding service was friendly, prompt and helpful. The spacious dining room was bright and cheerful.
Nice and fast service. The food is fresh and tasty, sometimes one flavor overpowers the other. Several vegetarian dishes to choose from. Portion sizes are good by European standards, except for the desserts, which are very large and are good for sharing. A reservation is almost necessary, otherwise you won't get a place. Value for money is good. To recommend.
The food was great and service was prompt but the music was so loud that it was hard to have a pleasant social time with your party.
We came here for a birthday and really enjoyed all the food that we got. Reservations are not hard to find and it didn’t seem like there was a long wait either, since seating was fairly abundant.
All of the food was great, especially the prawns and the fried chicken with jalapeño butter. Service was also great though sometimes the food came a little slower than expected.
My partner and I have been together for many years and so we didn’t need to talk much during the meal but you definitely had to yell across your small table to make conversation. For that, I would recommend this place just for the food.
Amazing spot for a night out with friends. Good food for sharing (small portions though), so make sure you order 1.5 dishes per person. The Truffle Pizza is a must, along with the crab cakes. Big place, plenty of space for big parties and nice cocktails !! Definitely coming back.
I can’t tell you enough how amazing it was to dine here. It’s the upscale casual New York vibe we all miss living in the city. Great service and fast. Love it.
It’s a very busy but fun place! There is a big crowd but the space is beautiful. The service was really nice and very attentive. The food was great too. I would say it’s a pretty trendy place.
Came here for dinner, and sat in table. I like the atmosphere and the low noise level. Ordered Kampachi Ceviche (daily special), Skillet Bread, Fried Chicken and Popcorn Sundae. Loved each one of them, especially the Sundae! Will come back for more dishes.
Sunday brunch. Light one, gustatory satisfying but not necessarily heavy. More like a tasting course of gooey spicy ham and cheese fritters, charred maitake mushroom paired with goat cheese and fresno vinaigrette, crispy calamari with amarillo dip and green salsa, summer corn empanada in lime cream fraiche dip and topped with orange blossom conchas-more like an airy brioche with a sweetish, faint hint of orange and raspberry preserve. Fritters was crunchy and tasty but not gooey. Calamari was nicely battered and fried to crunch on the outside but tender inside. Green salsa was missing in action but replaced with pickled red onions. Instead of the usual savory meaty empanada, summer corn was sweet and complimented by limey dip.Surprised by the mushroom nd goat cheese combo which was umami pleasing.0
Kinda dark inside. Food is great. Portions are perfect if you're just getting your own dish. Not really sharable portions. Overall 10/10.
Pictured: Black Truffle Pizza, sausage pasta, ravioli, steak, roasted carrot and avocado salad, calamari, cookies and ice cream, molten lava cake.
Love love love this restaurant.
Absolutely gorgeous inside . Phenomenal food and service.
This is a jewel. My favorite restaurant to go to .
Have to try the “ chocolate layer cake “ .
Food and drinks were decent… however, being from California I’ve been to many farm to table restaurants and considered everything here ok. Nothing was terrible by any means, but noting really stood out in an exceptional way.
We had an early dinner and they sat us in the back with a bunch of people who had babies and young kids in tow. Ughhhhhh. That’s the worst.
Come here just for the pizza alone. Their truffle mushroom, cheese, and egg pizza is easily one of the best tasting pizzas in the city!
The flavors are bold, the truffle adds incredible savory and umami flavors, the cheese is flavorfully and chewy, and the egg is soft and delicate.
The crust is also phenomenal - this is one of the few crusts that I actively looked forward to eating with each slice!
Great spot for a very healthy brunch! Stopped by here to meet a friend at the bar (restaurant had an hour wait). My friend got the match latte and I got the Green Glow juice and blueberry bowl. Blueberry bowl had so many different fruits including dragon fruit along with peanut butter. Hit the spot while also being a healthy option. Service was good and they let us linger at the bar without rushing us out, appreciated!
Love the food at ABC kitchen and the set menu is really very value for money, $45 for a full set of starter, main and a hearty dessert! Highly recommended. When to the store after that but felt that I seen it before and didn’t feel like I would wanna shop there. Something shd be done to refresh the store to be more relevant and meaningful for the current consumers and shoppers
Cute place. Loved the vibes here , though some of the details like chairs and the restrooms weren’t nice for being such a expensive place to eat. Still had a good time
