Great small French restaurant worth the stop for unique food. Service was fast friendly and helpful, wine was excellent. Had the spicy meatballs which had good flavor but were not spicy. The breakfast sandwich was outstanding and highly recommended. Overall great place to grab lunch.

The food is delicious. Highly recommended the Moroccan Couscous. We added the chicken in this dish and it was nice. The breakfast sandwich that came with the bagette is nice. Sceamble Egg and tomato were together and the bread is so good.

I encountered to go this place to take a short rest. I didn't expect the foods in this place. However, I was punched in my head due to its berry cheese cake. It was full of cream flavor even though the ingredients were not 'guilty pleasure'. Please try this place.

Stumbled upon this place and had breakfast. Very cool old school restaurant. Service was great and most of our food was amazing. Baked feta was pungent in the best way. Hummus was light and tasty. Overall we loved what we had to eat only dish that wasn’t a hit was the meatballs and rice, it was very under seasoned. All else was great and we will definitely return.

Edgar Allen Poe once said "In the realm of universal adoration, naught but a striped awning prevails. It beholds the extraordinary and the mundane with equanimity, extending its embrace to all, as if cognizant of our common origin" ...Okay he didn't say that, but perhaps he should have. Few things get me going like a striped awning. We sat under the blue and white striped awning that Cafe Gitane provides. Great people watching spot with a lot of foot traffic. The human experience truly fascinates me, and the outdoor seating is a front row seat to it. All sorts of characters walking by giving you everything from a live performance to style inspiration to the cutest dog you've ever seen. I got the baked eggs with tomato, and it ended up being one of the best decisions I made over the weekend, although that's not saying much ahahahaha. I added the Merguez sausages, and I will stick my neck out on the line here and say those are what made the meal. They took it from good to great. One of the better and more unique dishes I have had in a minute, as the sausages were cooked to perfection, teaming up well with the eggs, tomato sauce, and potatoes that are lurking at the bottom of the dish. A better Shakshuka. Thank you for the inspiration Cafe Gitane, but more importantly, thank you for the striped awning.

It’s a nice buzzing atmosphere place. The food looks good and it’s good - ok for the taste. However i felt like food looks better than it tastes. It’s a little bit bland - I missed richness in flavour and more attention to detail. Also for having a good conversation the music is too loud. So overall - a good, consistent place but Not 5 stars amazing. Pros: Stylish Buzzy Good location Cons: Too loud Food looks better than tastes

It’s amazing how much these folks can do in such a small space! Service was lovely, the fresh presse drinks were so refreshing, their specialty cous cous dish made a fantastic impression as soon as it came out. The combination of veggies, dried fruits, hummus, crunchy seeds, it all comes together beautifully. The only complaint is the cous cous itself was a little under seasoned. I very much recommend adding the merguez sausage.

I don't know why many people don't eat cheese cake in here. It was best cheese cake I've ever had. I will miss this forever

One of our go to low key brunch spots in our neighborhood. I recommend outside tables, so you will feel like in Europe☕️🥐 Always a little busy on weekends but we never had issue.

Pretty outdoor place near soho . We went on Wednesday afternoon and the place was crowded . The outdoor seats are fabulous for brunch on a sunny day . The servers did a great job although it is shot-staffed. It took awhile for them to come back to the table. I recommend Mimosa , the Oj is fresh . DO NOT recommend green tea tho .

This cafe has always been my favorite place in NYC. our waitress Olivia R is there everytime we go and truly brightens our day. This place is just special. I recommend the baked feta and the chicken sandwich (And ask for Olivia if you want to laugh)

The classic brunch spot that introduced me to avocado toast! I have attempted to replicate the toast on my own, but it is a standout in how they make the avocado. I’ve been going to this place as a visitor and now as a permanent resident. It’s located in a picturesque area in Nolita. After brunching here, you can roam around the area & people watch at the Elizabeth garden. My go to dish is avocado toast & the cous cous with the side of sausage. The cous cous can be shared with your dining partner. Today my dining partner suggested to share the blossom waffle and oh my, delicious! The meatballs is another shareable dish that is outstanding. I normally order a mocha latte & get excited for the paw art. This time around, none. I was a bit disappointed to not have the paw art & the chocolate that accompanies it; but I still enjoyed the meal regardless.

My favorite neighborhood spot of all time. The food is consistently tasty, healthy, wholesome, and well priced. The wait staff are all lovely people that get to know the neighborhood. We went to Gitane in Brooklyn for the first time and the vibe was consistent across locations. Much love for Gitane.

Lovely French-Maroccan restaurant two blocks from the New Museum. Beautiful decor and great service. The salmon I had and the smoked trout bowl my daughter had were delicious. Reasonable prices too.

I really hate it when I forget to take a photo... usually happens when I am into the food. This place was a good find. Got a beet salad, couscous salad, americano and bread pudding. All very good. Would recommend this place if you are in the neighborhood. Funky vibe with great food and music. $36 for everything. A real find.
