Great place for fresh Sushi! Hanging out in Time Square and had a taste for Sushi after watching the Lion King on Broadway! This place was great...ambience... great drinks! We had the shrimp tempura and the tuna roll. Please try the spicy margarita!
We visited Haru Sushi after attending The Humans Wednesday night. The restaurant was clean, bright, airy, and spacious.
Our waiter was prompt and solicitous. The menu consisted of many appetizers, a few salads and entrees, and a variety of sushi, nigiri, and sashimi options. I ordered the saki flight and the chirashi sushi. My partner had the salmon skin hand roll and the Chelsea Roll. The sake varied from a nauseatingly sweet lychee to perfectly smooth and mellow. The chirashi was good-sized, not too much wasabi as some places, and included a wide variety of raw fish. The tobiko was a chunk of cucumber bursting with juicy red eggs. Definitely my favorite. My partner's salmon skin roll was a thing of beauty and almost appeared to be two entire rolls. Regarding the Chelsea Roll, his comment was "a little shiso" goes a long way.
I did enjoy Haru Sushi. The restaurant did feel a little pretentious, but I enjoyed the sushi. I'd most likely try someplace else if it was just me, but if someone wanted to go there I wouldn't say "no".
Kamikaze Roll. Delicious!
We had great sushi, great service. It is pretty pricey, and seating is really cramped and jammed together, but we moved to sushi bar and had much more room. As far as Times Square restaurants, this place is a really good choice. Big thumbs up.
Good happy hour deal - found at the bar with drinks and the wrap around where the sushi is made. You should be able to find a place. Great pork buns, plum wine was great! The Saketini is fresh and very straight forward.
Good quality, high priced, cramped & medioca service. Lunch spot only.
Very good food, excellent quality. Great ambiance
Great lunch spot. As I am in New York for a few days a month for work, I have found that Haru is an excellent Times Square lunch spot. Their take out is very fast, especially if you call right before their rush at 11:30.
The prices are really decent for a Times Square spot, as well. I usually spend between $10-$15 for my lunch. Their rolls are quite good (how do they get their toasted seseme seeds to taste so good??) and their miso soup is delicious and light.
Great Sushi! You might see a celebrity like Cynthia Nixon there like we did!
The Paul Weiss Memo isn't wrong!. "Haru comes highly recommended, specifically in terms of their sashimi."*
*The Sushi memo is a 3 page legal memorandum on the topic of sushi allegedly written by a paralegal for the midtown Manhattan law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, on July 9, 2003. The memo is complete with exhibits and footnotes, and discusses suitable choices for takeout sushi restaurants in the area. The memo became an urban legend after an article about it was published in The New York Times.
I often get asked to provide recommendations for tourists visiting New York City. And I always hesitate to just spit out my highest ranked place. Without knowing further details - like where they're staying, what their spending tolerance is, how adventurous they are for example - it's basically a guessing game. That said, one thing I can say with virtual certainty is that most tourists will find their way to the times square/midtown area. In that event, Haru Times Square is a worthy option, despite the fact that it currently resides underneath scaffolding (like most places in Manhattan). Though I went for lunch, I suspect that dinner is as efficient given that tourists/business folks make up most of their clientele (and likely want to be quick). The Food was surprisingly high quality for what I thought would be a tourist trap. As I've mentioned before, the best way to tell the quality of the Uni is to try and make out the individual eggs that make up the Sea Urchin roe. The picture to the right should adequately show the quality, and given the reasonable prices ($6 per nigiri), I would recommend it. I always enjoy maki that has fish eggs on top, so the Spicy Titanic Roll (to the right) hit the spot. I even ignored that the menu referred to flying fish roe as "caviar". Pet peeve. The Atmopshere is inviting, but certainly does have the pace of a business environment. From my memory, the other Haru locations are much calmer - and frankly, duller - than the Times Square version. Haru Times Square is a definite recommend. Kura is a relatively unassuming place. It hasn't received much publicity, and is located in the lower east side of Manhattan - not exactly an area known for it's high class sushi.
... I then enjoyed the Vegetarian Sushi Platter. No special order required-it was perfectly vegan.
Went to Haru for lunch with some coworkers. Haru is a sushi/Japanese restaurant located in Times square. It's a casual restaurant with a very cool decor. I usually avoid Times Square restaurants, as its full of chains (although there are some good indepen
We went there before a play because it is across from to the Lyric theater. We arrived around 6pm and there was a nice crowd, but it wasn't too busy. We ordered drinks, sushi and entrees. All of the food was out to us with 20 mins. The service was fast and the food was very good.
They play current pop music and around 7 it began to get busier. The Chilean sea bass was excellent
Wonderful atmosphere and yummy food. I loved the cocktails we tried. If you like sweet cocktails, ask your waiter to point out the sweetest cocktails! That's what I did and unfortunately don't remember the name of the cocktail I ordered 😬 It was the first one in the menu though. The poke bowl I ordered was fantastic. The ingredients felt fresh and tasted great. It came with miso soup and house salad, both of which were also great. It was cold and rainy outside, so miso soup really hit the spot. I would definitely go there again. There are definitely a couple things on the menu I still need to try. They have a birthday special offer - ask for details. We went there at around 9pm on a Friday and thankfully there wasn't a crowd. Just a nice balance between too many people and too little people where you feel awkwardly alone with the staff.

Delicious sushi and decent drinks. The happy hour specials are a great deal for Times Square.
Crispy Spicy Tuna rolls for $8.50 - $10.50 and drink specials as well. I really enjoyed the sushi rolls. The chicken skewer was okay but not as flavorful as I had hoped.
Overall a decent place to dine in and I would come back again.

We highly recommend this place. Given its proximity to Times Square, it offers great value for money. We ordered the salmon poke bowl and it was delicious, all the ingredients felt very fresh! A miso soup was included as well. The service was extremely fast and the staff very friendly.
We really like RA Sushi! The sushi is good for the price, the place is big and they have booths which were really comfortable. The waitress was really nice and the service fast. Good place if you are looking for a quick catchup with friends and solid sushi.
It’s a classy restaurant which is very close to Times Square. I’m not a big sushi fan but I like the Japanese culture so I really enjoyed my dinner at that restaurant. Everything was delicious.
Nice, quiet place close to our hotel, shows, and Times Square. Food was hot, service was fast and good, everything was delicious. I highly recommend the spring rolls, ka-ra shrimp, and all the rolls were yummy.
The food was amazing. The staff was friendly and went above and beyond. They overheard we were celebrating my birthday and brought out ice cream and chocolate white miso brownie ( which made our mouth water) to celebrate. Highly recommend!
Went there for pre-show lunch. Was not busy so got a great lunch with quick service. RA sushi is an upscale Japanese restaurant with really good food. Restaurant is clean, modern and spacious which is sometimes hard to find in Manhattan. Price is reasonable for Manhattan, especially since it’s right across from Harry Potter show. We had salmon poke bowl, chicken teriyaki and chicken katsu. The dishes were all fresh and tasty.
I didn't know RA replaced Haru... happily they did not disappoint! The service was prompt especially since we dined right before going to a show. Our waiter was friendly, polite and attentive. The food was fresh and plentiful. I would definitely recommend trying the passion fruit mojito... delish! I look forward to visiting again. Next time I'll try the sushi!
We decided to stop in after watch Harry Potter and the cursed child. It is across the street. The house salad with Ginger dressing was terrific, the soup yummy. And I can not say enough good things about the sushi choices we made. Absolutely delicious.
Magnificent New Year’s Bash. The food, amazing! The music, banging! The party was sick! The organizer, off the hook! I’ve received a personalized invitation from the General Manager and I have signed up with Open Table! Will definitely come back next year!
The Ra fried rice was amazing. It was the talk of the table how delicious it was.
We had the hibachi dinner.
Chicken fried rice
A few sushi options. Sushi was fresh and good
4 adults and a 2 year old ate for 180 not including tip.
Friendly service. Prompt and attentive.
Great menu! Service was insanely fast and delicious
Wasn’t busy on a Friday night maybe because it was a little pricey but it was delicious. The rolls were great and the poke bowls were great! Clean atmosphere and fast service
