Amazing food! I'd recommend the cheese board starter, the flavours together are fantastic. For dinner, the Terry Allan chicken is delicious. currently waiting on desert but I'm sure it'll be just as amazing. Couldn't wait until the end of the meal to post the review and I never review anything. best meal I've had in New York

One of the best spots in town! Get there around 10:30AM on weekends or it fills up and you'll wait 30 minutes or more. They used to let you sit at the bar to avoid the line... not anymore on the weekends!

I don’t know why I waited so long to try this restaurant. I loved everything about it from the decor to the food to the service. They start with cornbread with an apple chutney which was great. We started with butternut squash crostini, don’t see it on the online menu. It was delicious. I didn’t even know I was eating squash, the honey balanced the cheese and the squash sat on top. The short rib entree was tender flavorful and comforting. One of the best I have had. I don’t eat duck but the person who got it also thought it was one of the best he has had and he has had many subpar duck dinners. We so appreciated our server’s recommendations. I was leaning towards the chicken pot pie and he said it was delicious but will never leave the menu so if we planned to return we might want to try something that could rotate off the menu, great advice. Tried the special cocktail, was something with cherry juice and was a little too sweet for me but wine selection was nice. If you want an eclectic cozy meal with great food I recommend this restaurant.

Still as great as 20 years ago. Fabulous food and great wine selection. I especially enjoyed a Pinot Gris from the Fingerlakes region of the state of New York. My salmon with Brussels sprouts was good too. There was also a delicious free cornbread appetizer with apple sauce. Attentive service and overall wholesome atmosphere. Great brunch options even on weekdays, such as Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and French Toast. And nice outdoor seating on Irving Place.

Amazing spot! Very intimate farm to table restaurant with dim lighting (made it a little hard to read the menu). Food was delicious. Must admit, i cannot remember the last time I had chicken pot pie. This one was piping hot and tasted very fresh. It was also super filling. The cookie skillet had the best vanilla bean ice cream and wasn't too heavy.

I have gone here for the past three years on my birthday. By yourself or with a group the food, atmosphere, and kind staff make it worth it every time. I am so excited for their UWS location to open and to go again this year. Everything was so delicious we couldn’t wait to dig in before our photos 😅

A beautiful little farmhouse gem tucked away off the busy streets of NYC. Picturesque and very cozy with a rustic feel (worn wooden columns, ceilings, floors). Very friendly and warm staff, excellent food. Local and fresh ingredients. A bit pricey, but I recommend sharing the Boomer Special, as portions are a good size!

The food was good, the service wasn't great. Our waiter was so out of it. She kept ignoring us. We had to ask someone else to get us cream for the coffee. Besides that the restaurant was really nice and the food was good

Great spot for brunch. Everything baked there is delicious, they bring a little cornbread type dish as a complimentary appetizer and the bread is so sweet it tastes like cake. The whole wheat bread on the chicken sandwich was the best thing we ate. Overall good food and the atmosphere is cute with really small rooms and inside & outside options.

My friend highly recommended us that Friend of A Farmer serves one of the best pancakes and corn bread in Manhattan. Weekend brunch reservation is not acceptable and there is always a long line by the entrance during brunch time, so we would suggest to come early to beat the crowd or make dinner reservations. After being seated, the staff served their signature corn bread in a skillet and it was surprisingly delicious and puffy. For entrees, we had their Chicken Pot Pie, Country Omelette and 2 Boomer Special with Pancakes. Our favorite was their pancakes and it was super fluffy and perfect with butter & jelly. The omelette was also decent with plenty of ingredients but the Chicken Pot Pie was just okay.

Visited this charming restaurant on Thanksgiving day. Enjoyed a delicious 4 course meal. Corn chowder, veg casserole, turkey with all the trimmings, and apple pie and ice cream. All the food arrived piping hot, and we devoured each course - so tasty. Service was very good, restaurant was extremely busy but we never felt rushed. Set in a quiet street about 5min walk from Union Square. Would definitely return next time we are in New York

This is such an interesting space. We had a group of 5, and I know they are trying to get the most out of their space but I think the table under the stairs is not a great space to be in. Would have rather been in the upstairs or in the glassed outdoor space. I got the Terry Allen chicken which I thought was ok, but this place redeemed itself on the cocktails. Some really interesting ones like the plum margarita which was extraordinarily flavorful and tasty. Would come back here just for the drinks.

I loved my yogurt and granola, but their complimentary cornbread cake was my most favorite. It was so delicious! I want to visit here again to try different dishes! ❤️

Really enjoyed having late breakfast here with my daughter. The lemon ricotta pancakes were delicious. She enjoyed the tasty french toast. Mr. Terence rendered excellent service. Thoroughly enjoyed coming here. Would highly recommend and will definitely return.

They only serve “brunch” during the day weekdays and weekends. There are some salads and main courses if you are not in the mood for brunch items. This is one of my winter go to places, with its cozy atmosphere and fireplaces. Yesterday I went for brunch and ordered at Stuey's Smoked Lox Toast smoked lox, red onion, cucumbers, capers, fresh dill, mint & cream cheese on toasted sourdough and it’s a was delightful but for $24 I was very disappointed with the portion size. It was very small which I did not mind but I did not think it was worth $24 sadly. For 2 Bellini’s and my smoke salmon with tip it was $80!

Friend of a Farmer is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The food is comforting, healthy, and delicious. Some of my favorites are the chicken pot pie, complimentary cornbread, and kale caesar salad. The cozy atmosphere is also unbeatable. It feels like you're in your grandmother's house in the countryside, and when I'm feeling homesick I go here to escape the city and feel transported back to the south. It is my go-to place for family dinners when my parents are in town.

The food was great. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the scrambled egg being bland. But thankfully the sausage and homefries are seasoned. The sausage was a little too salty and I like salt a lot. So careful for people watching their salt content. The home fries were soft, tender, delicious. I had the boomer with sausage and apple pancakes as to taste a little of everything and let me tell you about these pancakes. They are a 5/5 pancakes. The apple aren't just sitting on top! The batter was cooked with the pancakes, so they are inside. It came with what tasted like apple sauce or something because it didn't taste like your normal Mapple syrup. I am a fan🤩. I had to Google how these pancakes are made on YT to try at home too sometimes. Will definitely go back there just for the pancakes!
