Reviews Big Gay Ice Cream Shop

I didn't know what to expect when we went to Big Gay Ice Cream Shoppe. Judging by the name, I knew to expect something awesome and likely involving ice cream. Largely they delivered. The main offering here is flavored soft-serve ice cream covered in a variety of awesome toppings. I treated myself to a Key-Lime Pie Sundae. It was tart and just the right size. I have had better (I once had a Lemon Meringue Pie Sundae at another shop that was incredible), but this was nothing to sneeze at. I suspect the other offerings might be even better.

This place was such a bolt of happiness. The soft serve is delicious—the perfect balance of creamy and thickness. The crew was quick, nice, and fun. A normal soft serve cone will start at about $3.50 and then extras are usually $1 extra per.

The staff were friendly, and the ice cream was very smooth, although a bit too soft, as it melted very quickly even in the air conditioned store. Although there is often a line, it moves very quickly, so we didn't have to wait more than 3 minutes to be served.

An ice cream experience like none other. They have so many cool ice cream creations, my personal favorite is the American Globs, which coats the ice cream with crushed pretzels and chocolate! Just be aware that the shop is small, with limited seating, so be ready to take your ice cream on the go.

The line may look long but it is well worth the wait! And they go through people fast! Fantastic ice cream! Definitely an experience to be had!

Tried two of their ice cream flavors and frankly speaking they are not that great, they are ok at best. The one with peanut butter cups in it is weird, I wouldn’t try it again. The shop seems ok, I like the bench they have near the entrance - it’s nice to have a seat on it during the sunny day. Overall: it’s ok, but not worth going to that districts specifically to try this ice cream.

Their dulce de leche sauce is a definite must try! The cones were smaller than I expected based on pictures I had saw online, but the flavor is definitely there. They have nutella coated waffle cones, which I had expected to have a thin layer of nutella like chocolate dipped waffle cones, but the nutella layer is actually very thick, like someone spread it on using a spatula. They serve icecream in the soft serve style, and the base is actually much more rich than I had expected from a soft serve.

Delicious ice cream! Line moved quickly, staff was friendly, and the place was mostly very clean. Some of the pint flavors sounded great, I can’t wait to go back and try one of them.

The vanilla icecream was awesome! It wasn't really that sweet so you were able to eat it without feeling as if you were having a huge scoop of sugar. The ambiance is really casual, a nice place to have a quick chat and laugh. Would visit it again on my next trip to NYC

Love it! Scrumptious ice cream and shakes flavors. Kind staff and cozy place. Inexpensive. Near to the historial Stonewall Inn (Greenwich Village, Manhattan)

Big flamboyant ice creams! Huge portions, good job there's a cone holder as the majority of my ice cream was melting & dripping into the cone holder. Long queue, but worth the wait.

A really cute looking ice cream store. The name obviously will draw you in. The lines are long but the the service staff are friendly and amazing. The specials have double meaning names and are really good. I like the flavor contrast of the Salty Pimp. Ice Cream wise, I would say it is very good but with so many options in NYC it relies on regulars and people drawn in by the name and ambiance of the store.
