The ambiance, the service, and the food all vied for first place as far as we were concerned. We had the window table that was exuding French charm and was looking out on a historic site of immigrant living, our food and drink was served with friendly, competent efficiency and the food we chose highlighted French cuisine for French week and was not only presented beautifully, but was so satisfying in flavor and taste. This place not only met our expectations, it exceeded them.
Love the new/old 19-century decor... I expected to walk in a casual and cozy place. Although pretty cozy, Very Beautiful. The music gave the place a real laid back vibe. The waitress was real sweet and attentive. The food was amazing!!! My Friends and I had the Classic Tajine, steak Tartar, and Few Crostinis. To die for. I also would suggest any from the Royal Family sparkling cocktail selections and the mescal-and-Cointreau L’Antonieta. The crew is very hospitable and nice. The Chef is French and uses a very sophisticated technique building the small tapas. Amazing service!!! We will be back here again...

The sea scallops and duck are to die for. The plates are generously served for tapas and the crepes are large enough to share. Don’t leave without a Crepe Suzette! I love this place!
If you came by here 50 years ago, the grandfather I never met might've asked your bra size and sold you women's underwear. He had a store called Jay Ess Trading Company. It was a tiny LES wholesale shop filled with tobacco smoke, rats, and a chill in the air that killed two pet parakeets.
We had an amazing time there tonight.
Now it's Excuse My French, a fully redone bar and bistro rebuilt from the ground up by our new friend Ricardo and his husband. The exposed brick would've been plastered over back then, but now it covers the whole wall. It's warm and cozy and smoke-free and loaded with paintings and a sweet tin ceiling. The French chef will bark in his accent that he makes the best Brussels sprouts and crepes you've ever had, and Harry the server will bring you strong tasty cocktails you've never had before. Ricardo took excellent care of us as our family reunited with this location after 50 years and had a great time.
Roots traced. Drinks drank. Memories made. So great. Thank you Ricardo!!
A fabulous gem of a find tucked away on Orchard Street. This is the place to be for exquisite cocktails and fabulous small plates of delicious genuine French cuisine. Recommend the Sancerre whilst browsing the food menu and listening to cool vibes and watching the passionate chef create your delicious food. A++
In these crazy and uncertain times, I've found a place that brings much needed comfort in the form of classic French cocktails, lamb merguez Brussels sprouts, and lemon and sugar crepes late in to the night. Excuse my French but I 'effin love this place!
Excellent food, great French Beer to my surprise and fantastic atmosphere! An awesome place to spoil your taste and impress your girl, wife or friends... Thank you thank the friendly staff!
Super fun atmosphere, very friendly and chatty staff - I loved meeting everybody and enjoying the delicious food - could have sat there for hours drinking in the ambiance. Home away from home.
Fantastic place! All of it: decor, food and you have to love the amazing cocktails... They each have a story! Great place to go for a quiet drink with friends and Sunday brunch spectacular too!
small, intimate place with unobtrusive and caring staff and amazing food.
Great place!!! Great atmosphere and super cool cocktails!!!! And the food is delicious!!!!! Can't wait to go again!!!! :D :D :D
Most charming French place on the Lower East Side
Excellent! Great service and food is fantastic. Duck Confit Is incredible!
I loved this bar - excellent cocktails, great food, and the most charming atmosphere. Go and you'll feel like you've discovered a New York secret.
Gavroche beer, Foie Gras Lollipops, Steak Tartare- I'm in Heaven..... Amazing place, owners and staff!!!
I'll be back for more!
Memories with my beloved friends and the chef/owner was friendly and talented. He made us delightful cuisines and mean ass cocktails
Best restaurant in the LES! Ricardo is a hell of a host. Everyone on their game, all the time. Flawless service, incredibly delicious food!
We spent a fabulous New Year's Eve here. So thrilled to have a great new spot in our hood! Ricardo is a wonderful host. 'Excuse My French' will be around for many years!! Now, if you'll Excuse My English but this place is RAD!!
Loved the vibes of this cute and cozy French spot! You may miss the location since it's tiny but the decor is cute, the service is great (thanks Doug!) and the tapas are delicious! We tried several things but the highlights were the frog legs (we were first timers), the crepe Suzette and the drinks...yum! You won't be disappointed, feel free to mention us when you get there :)
amazing service! frog legs were the best i’ve ever had. the duck confit wasn’t what i was expecting so it came as a surprise. not my fave but still decent. the crepe was huge and great to share! overall pretty good and i would return. restaurant week menu met it’s value as i left stuffed
Amazing food prepared from the chef in front of you! Definitely coming back, became one of my favorite spots now. The restaurant is a little small and intimate but it’s a must!
Excuse My French is a cute, intimate Parisian bistro that offers highly innovative dishes with a carefully curated ambiance that we fell in love with.
Each dish brought a confluence of flavors that together made something special. The Organic Balsamic Chicken, the Black Truffle Ravioli, and the Nouilles de Cougettes were all delicious in every sense. We didn't enjoy the Garlic Shrimp Skewer (a bit undercooked for our liking) but it was plated very elegantly.
They were able to create an amazing mocktail using Yuzu and Raspberry puree that is one of the best we've had in Manhattan.
I look forward to being back, but would highly recommend this for a fine dining experience or a romantic date night.
We hit this place randomly but it was a huge surprise! The server fit us in at the bar (very lucky!). The vibe is super super good! Not too loud, very French romantic, well decorated. We were here for a drink but the food was also very surprisingly good! The price is also fair.
Will come again! Nice place for a french style date.
Nice find in the East Village. Tucked down a few stairs is a long narrowish, cozy, French stylish spot. Good craft cocktails and tasty tapas. Was quaint but the space was filled with good vibes
This is one of my favorite little hidden gems in the East Village. I always work it into my evenings when I jump around the area. The reason I keep gonna back is the menu. Everything I’ve had so far I’ve loved. The things I want to spotlight though are the three items pictured. The Croque Monsieur is the best I’ve had since I visited Paris, by far. The frog legs, which I had never had before, are outrageous. The first time I smelled it being prepared was the time I ordered it, and I’ve never looked back. Lastly, their crepes are super delicious and rich with flavor and the perfect end cap for a meal. I love this place, and go back whenever I find myself in the area.
All the dishes were packed with flavor! From appetizer (simple yet juicy olives, cheese) to main courses all were delicious. Definitely worth breaking my usual vegan diet for. They also have a few good vegan/vegetarian options for main courses. The ratatouille was especially flavorful. Also as someone who does not like alcohol, I certainly enjoy the couple of drinks I've tried here in the two times I've been. Service is always friendly, fast and also impressive (because the guy just memorized all the orders without writing it down!). Loved that the kitchen is integrated in the restaurant, making it feel cozy and more transparent.
The price is a bit overpriced for its food. The vibe is great, but I wouldn’t come here for the food
Great for intimate drinks or homey French small share plates. Reservations are highly recommended since the place is quite snug. Escargot and beet salad are a must.
