In two decades of living in the neighborhood... Why did I never come here before? One of those places you just assume will always be around, but really, I missed out by not coming here sooner. The food is fantastic, but what I really enjoy is how the front of house staff is focused on service, rather than regaling you with descriptions of the food - which I appreciate too, but it's also nice when the focus is as much on the customer's enjoyment as it is on the chef's creations. The menu proclaims that the grilled veal chop is the best in NY and indeed... It's the best I've ever tasted. Lobster soup was delicious, shrimp were juicy and ginormous, the grappa hit the spot...

Great bar on west side and Hudson. Cozy, fun and friendly atmosphere. Bartenders are great will make sure they get your order right no problem. Nice enough to let you in even if making it a few minutes before closing to let you cap off the night. Crowd overall somewhat diverse. Not a stuffy bar but has great atmosphere and surroundings of well kept bar restaurant.

From the moment you arrive in the wood paneled space, you feel like you are taken care of very well. We were seated right away, and immediately a gratis antipasti was served, along with bread. Menu is traditional, with a few 'twists' on the old recipes that gives it interest. Veal dishes were great, with fine preparation obvious. Service was impeccable-attentive but at a respectful distance, to let you talk freely. Overall, really a nice experience for dinner, and highly recommend if you're in that area of NYC.

We wanted to find an authentic Italian restaurant to celebrate our wedding in and what a place this is! The interior decor is amazing as are the bilingual staff who are very welcoming and professional. The food is absolutely delicious along with the best selection of wine! Highly, highly recommend this place even if you are not in the area!

It's still one of the classic bar experiences downtown. I feel like I can hop on that bar at any time and feel right at home no matter what's happening around me. It's got a very old school feeling, but everything else has been updated to hold up to today's standards. the cocktails are expertly prepared the wine list is heavy on Italian which is okay by me, and the quality of the food is so consistently out of sight.

While not a place for kids, we arrived very early on a Wednesday holiday and the staff was extremely accommodating. The food was outstanding and we left wishing we could have tasted other dishes. My son devoured his octopus and my veal shank was terrific. My wife tried and enjoyed a pappardelle with ricotta and my daughters bolognese ravioli she ate very quickly. Their house Chianti was excellent as was a gibson. We all. Including the kids, are excited to go back.

The service was outstanding, but my scampi was a little bland, although beautifully presented. Still, I'd go back to try again simply because we were treated so well. I don't think I've ever received better service.
