Absolutely love this restaurant. The ambiance is fantastic (I love the live magnolia plants they use as dining arrangements and the spherically shaped candles lining the walls), the food is great and the cocktail list is stellar! In the spring and fall, when they open up the windows and industrial g
The place is so hip and cool. I love the atmosphere. It's absolutely industrial chic. Service was warm and comforting. The food was pretty good. The kimchi waffle was mild but wished the waffle was crispier and the pork more tender. However, the flavors of the slaw blended well with the rest of the
I love this place. Great chefs who serve inventive fusion dishes that are HEALTHY!! (no deep fried 'Comfort'). Great meat with an Australian/New Zealand touch. Great vegetarian options and delicious green sides. The cocktails are exquisite. The price is good for the quality and the bar next door aft
Super swanky setting with tons of personality: candle lit steps, punch card menus, garage door styled window... Food is also unique and memorable. Ceviche was amazing. The venison was rather tough. I think there was a bit of tendon in the cut. Otherwise high quality food and setting for a price.
I went there recently for desserts and drinks. Get the dessert sampler - they really have picked the best of all they have on the menu. If you can, there's a cute space tucked back in the corner where they seated us. I'm not sure how hard it is normally to get a place there, but it would be the best
Awesome place. Far enough away from the touristy part of Nolita, which makes it quieter and more charming. The servers are engaging and professional. The food is unique and great. And finally the decor is one of the best parts - you can either eat in the more brightly lit, slightly fancier part of t
Public's dishes lend themselves very well to sharing between two people. Everything on the menu is "inspired by travel", but don't expect anything too exotic. Instead, you'll find simple offerings, prepared carefully and consistently. The highlight of the Public experience is the extensive cocktail
Public is a great restauraunt. I might even say it is one of my favorite restaurants. The tasteful decor and atmosphere coupled with fun and interesting food and an extensive alcohol selection really makes it stand out. The service is always great and they sometimes surprise you with extra wine o
Kangaroo carpaccio: smoky and so so good. Who knew? This place is a neighborhood classic, an Australian spot turning out beautiful modern food in a homey, old public library. Great cocktails and wine selection. They do a nice brunch with a self-serve baked goods table: much appreciated if you get th
This was probably the first restaurant or bar to take on the library theme. Decor is chic but not snooty. Service is excellent. Although the servers are all model-like they don't cop an attitude. Quite the opposite. Enjoy a real good Japanese fried oyster appetizer. Entrees were not as impress
This is one interesting place, and we mean interesting a very good way. The menu is a great compilation of delicious food. Hand in hand with the great food is Public's wine cellar, which makes it an ideal location for some post-dinner drinks too. An ideal place for an evening night out.
A special, romantic restaurant that has never let me down for brunch or dinner. Inventive cuisine and friendly staff keep me and my girlfriend returning 3 or 4 times per year. At brunch, make sure you order the kimchi waffle! It blows my mind, everytime!
Service was good and the food is interesting. I ejoyed my white gazpacho very much. Kangaroo not as much, though I have ejoyed it other forms. The portions are on the smaller end but tasty.
The glowing candles and open air front porch are the epitome of New York sexy – no wonder it keeps packing the crowds in every night despite having been open for years and years. Brad Farmerie’s menu is full of surprises – who knew that kangaroo could be that good? If it is nice out see if you can g
I'm a big fan of Public. Chef Brad Farmerie really knows what he's doing. The food is delicious and the space is chic. I love the feeling that there are 3 spaces within one restaurant. A great place to go when you're looking for a special meal or to give out-of-towners a unique experience.
Feels like a restaurant of the 90s, but the food is good (the lamb), and the wines are delicious. Not a huge fan of Australian only wines, but the som will help you find something.
Sunday Supper is the name of the game here, a 5 course taster menu for $50. Each course is smallish (European sized) but very flavorful; the mussel custard with tuna was my favorite, followed by the poached peach and basil ice cream.
