I came here because they call it the best old school burger place in New York. And it was pretty good - great meat, basic flavors to complement it together with disc fries. The restaurant is big and cozy. Pictures of my favorite fruit - melon - all around the restaurant is a plus! 🍉🍔 Jalapeño Margarita was also nice.
Good place to take a burger and some fries. The place is a little bit small and this creates a bit of noise. Not recommended if you want to be calmed. But apart from that, attention, hamburgers and fries are great.
My favorite burger in NYC, hands down! I love a burger where the beef is the star and that is ever present at J.G. Melon. Their beautiful burgers come dressed with gooey American cheese, house made pickles along with lettuce & red onion, the whole ensemble is simply perfect. As if this burger couldn’t get any better, you have the option to add bacon! Do yourself a favor and add the bacon. In addition, J.G also offers a dynamite homemade chili which nearly rivals the superiority of the burger. I’m a huge fan of their bar atmosphere, it’s usually lively with good people and you can easily bypass the wait during peak hours. For drinks I recommend ordering the J.G. exclusive cocktail called the Bloody Bull, which is essentially a Bloody Mary prepared with beef consommé, which is wonderful change of pace. Come to J.G. Melon on any occasion to enjoy the complete mastery of their burger, it’s so worth it.
When my friend told me "the best burgers in manhattan, I was a bit skeptic. Now I tried them and she's probably right! Plus a delicious cheesecake and friendly service.
JG Melon is undoubtedly the best best burger joint in New York City. Its various locations make it very accessible and the quality offered by all of its establishments is unbelievable.
The menu is simple, and easy. With options for burgers, a few sandwiches and others.
The burgers obviously are the best thing to have, and their size (although it looks small) is perfect if had with a side of fries.
The beer selection is very good and the service is quick and kind.
Stop me if you heard this before...very good burger spot. But it seriously is. The vibe is super casual, the food is good and the service is quick. There is nothing fancy here. It is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get kind of place. Enjoy it and have fun with the rest of your night.
Friendly Village outpost of the UES restaurant of the same name [UWS coming soon]. Nice Happy hour specials. Enjoyed the variety of sliders and the 'Hot Mess' cottage fries.
Such a classic burger and an institution in New York City that is well worth the trip. Much of the area around this one has changed but I love how they keep things old school here. Unpretentious and a really good burger.
No frills. Solid. Not too expensive. Gotta try the burgers. Blue Plate Special is a good deal.
The burger was juicy, everything was perfect. People couldn't stop looking at me.
I love the burgers of J.G Melon, simple & tasty as burger should be.
This is my go to burger in NYC! If I just want a great classic burger I go to JG Melon.
One of the best burger I’ve ever had 👍 the fries and the salad are yummy as well 👌
Tasty burgers. Medium rare beef patty cooked perfectly. We enjoyed it a lot
Burgers, cottage fries, and martinis. This neighborhood outpost of the original is solid, with friendly service and really good food.
Great burger. Ordered the bacon cheeseburger and didn’t love paying 14 dollars when I saw the price on the menu, but they don’t skimp on the bacon and the burger was fantastic, so it was worth it for sure. The cottage fries were tasty but could use some salt.
The service was phenomenal. Our waitress was super attentive and was on top of everything.
Great burger! I came here because I heard good things about the burger and fries, and they did not disappoint. The fries were these perfect crispy coins of potatoes, probably one of my favorite renditions of potato. The burger itself was juicy, and the toppings were fresh. This burger is in a completely different class from your fast-food experiences, like Shake Shack or In-N-Out. Definitely worth having when you want to go out for a meal, but also just want a nice lazy burger experience instead of anything fancy.
There's nothing wrong with simple comfort food done right. I had the outstandingly juicy and tasty burger, crispy cottage fries, and chili to dip them in. While the chili wasn't my favorite, it had a nice freshness to it. Service was great, water was topped off often. A bit pricy.
