The food here is just like what they serve in Italy! We really liked every pasta (carbonara, funghi, and even the pesto, which I normally wouldn’t order).
A nice Italian restaurant, surprisingly well priced for the area that it is in. The portions are slightly less than an average American portion. The wait staff are all so fun and friendly and will make up for any short service. They are also very generous with their time and don't kick out parties having fun. We were a lively bunch of 5, causing a bit of ruckus and were so thankful the staff was so kind to us. The whole place was rather loud anyway and it is also dimly lit for mood.
Food & service were excellent. The pizza was very good and the roasted chicken was perfectly tender with salty, crisp and flavorful crust.
The lasagna is very heavy and meaty—not for the faint of heart. Check this place out if you want good Italian food and friendly service!
Place is great. We had the beet and ricotta salad, and the calamari. The food is everything you could want from an Italian restaurant. It’s also completely authentic as much or all of the staff is Italian. Sometimes the service might be a little slow or inconsistent by American standards but again this is similar to what you would get in Italy and I feel is authentic. The wine is priced really affordably and isn’t flashy but is really good—also authentic to what you get in Italy. I haven’t found many places in New York that as closely match the dining experience you would have in Rome, Naples or Florence but this place hits the mark for sure. Also the interior is really nice.
Great staple spot for Italian, never disappointed. We had the pesto, porcini, and gnocchi pasta. The pesto and mushroom pastas are incredible, highly recommend those!
What a cozy spot for dinner ! They had plenty of seats indoors and also outdoor on their patio.
For appetizers, we ordered the calamari and the arugula salad. I love how the calamari came in big pieces, had a really nice lemon zest to the flavor. For an entree we split the mushroom pizza, which had a burst of flavor.
Overall a nice place for dinner. Next time I’d like to try the pastas and maybe a dessert to get a more holistic review.
Excellent Italian spot in the village. The food is amazing and the service is nice . The carbonara was to die for . The calamari was good. The individual pizza 🍕 were very good to . We had the black ink pasta which was ok but not fantastic. You will need a reservation here. But it was always packed with people which shows it was in high demand. For desert the tiramisu melts in your mouth. The free appetizer bread stick though not the star of the show they were very delicious. We ate in a sidewalk cafe which was nice during the warm May Sunday afternoon
Excellent Italian Food. Really strange service.
We ordered many dishes to share for our party of four and enjoyed each one. Outdoor seating is very nice and quiet while indoors is more lively. The grilled squid was a group favorite and the steak was delicious as well. Lasagna and gnocchi were also worth ordering.
The service, however, made our experience feel very odd. It wasn’t that it was aloof or unpleasant, but the staff did seem like they had never worked at a restaurant before - all of them, collectively. We ordered all plates to share and let them know that we’d be having dinner “family style”. Bread was dropped with no bread plates and dishes were delivered with no serving utensils. When asked for serving utensils for the four dishes, the server responded with “how many?” He also looked confused that we needed more than one steak knife between the four of us. When we entered the restaurant to use the restroom, we found the staff standing around talking, blocking the doorway with no awareness of the customer. When we had finished, plates were clumsily cleared causing a wine glass to tumble and for some reason, the server’s fingers with inside the glass! Finally, while my party was in the restroom, I was abruptly asked to leave the table because there was a party waiting.
Everyone is very nice and the food is great. I would definitely recommend. Just don’t expect a refined dining experience.
Took us back to the simple days in Italy!
In my opinion, the fresh spaghetti was the star of the show.
Great ambiance. We ordered about 5-6 vegetarian friendly dishes. All of them were filled with so many flavors.
Dessert was on point!
Staff was friendly, indoor & outdoor seating available.
First off, walking here was a joy. The West village is really nice and very relaxed, of course. There's a lot of hustle and bustle. But much calmer than other areas. As me and my wife walk through there. We enjoyed looking at all. The brownstones and renovated buildings. Definitely inspired us to move if we could lol
Anyways, the restaurant is on the corner, it was very busy but very accommodating at the same time. We arrived about 45 minutes early and were able to be seated.
The food amazing, the noodles definitely homemade. They had such a beautiful texture and tenderness to them, but just enough resistance to know that it's not a pre-made pasta. The spaghetti Alla carbonara, is what I had which was amazing. Super creamy, super flavorful and super simple to make when done correctly. I had also gotten the fennel sausage with gorgonzola polenta. Definitely different but still very good.
My wife had gotten the lasagna, it was incredibly hearty but incredibly tasting as well. Everything was done so well , it mesh so well and everything was so tasty, the sauce was not acidic at all. So therefore you can enjoy it and not feel like you're swallowing acid lol
10 out of 10 would come back, and was not very expensive. We got a appetizer, two entrees, glass of wine, ginger ale and a dessert. Came out to around $90, which I believe wasn't bad.
Beautiful place.
I really enjoyed the beets. Though I found the pizza an pasta to be good, not great.
Must order the calamari! We made a booking but there were plenty of empty tables. Service was friendly and carbonara was also very good.
The perfect cozy Italian restaurant in West Village. My boyfriend and I agreed these are authentic Italian dishes. The theme we tasted across everything is how subtle yet tasteful the plates were. I.e. Not heavily over compensating with salt or sugar like many restaurants do these days.
Their spaghetti alla carbonara is homemade pasta. I took one bite and knew it was homemade. I looked up at the bartender and he said “yup, all pasta is homemade”. Its texture is more al dente with slight imperfect forms that really mean, it’s imperfectly perfect.
The pizza broccoletti e salsiccia was another hit. I took one bite and was hypnotized by the ooey goodness of the mozzarella cheese. My bf said it tasted just like the pizzas he had in Italy last year.
The staff and service were very kind and amusing to watch run around. All but one was speaking Italian so it honestly will feel like you’re in Italy. They were busy workers yet seemed to be enjoying the rush of the evening.
We dined outside. Service is spectacular. Food options are solid. Staff is welcoming, helpful, accommodating, knowledgeable, and engaging.
Good experience. Fresh ingredients, simply prepared, accessible wine list (every wine available by the glass, carafe, or bottle - nothing fancy but decent table wine - I admit to being a snob). Flourless chocolate cake was incredible. Pastas were very good. Very good prices. Staff is hustling so the experience is not particularly relaxing/paced but that’s reasonable at this price point.
One of the best Italian reasturants in NYC. Everything was fresh and tasty, the staff was very friendly and professional. Would definitely go there again very soon.
Very good food. Actual rating is 4.3 stars. Portnoy scale is an 8.6. Tiramisu is a 9.3.
