Went for dinner with friends after track workout. The food tasted authentic. There are couple of Thai restaurants that has authentic taste & this is one of them. Service is super fast. Chicken wings with crispy chili garlic is must try. The dishes are pretty spicy and if you are not into spicy then u should order very mild.
Good selection of Thai food, good service and very fast. They have a lot of long tables so they sit you wherever they can.
The food is good, and the very spicy can be real spice but not crazy spicy. The food was very tasty and they have a fast service my only complain is that for a Thai restaurant the relation of food - price is maybe too expensive.
A little bit annoying that they keep filling your glass of water every two seconds, you can relax and let me finish my glass of water.
The atmosphere/interior design is average, that doesn’t mean is bad but you won’t really remember the place but i think you will remember the food because it’s good.
Spontaneous decision to show up at 6PM/opening time and was immediately seated to a pretty empty restaurant that was beginning to get busy for a Friday night. Had the papaya salad, larb and pork skewers and WOW the flavors. Service was fast and efficient but the FOOD was beyond something I could’ve imagined. Sweet, tangy, citrus, herbal deliciousness. Will come here again and again with the only difficult part whether I should order the same thing or switch it up.
Probably my personal go to, comfort Thai food in the city. Been coming here for over 5 years now, and it has never disappoint. Food is tried and true to esan Thai cuisine. Flavors are savory, umami, tangy, ferment-y in all the right ways. My favorites are definitely the tum suo and goong chae numpla.
The carbs dishes and grilled meats were excellent, we had crab fried rice and beef pad see ew which were both really good. The texture of the rice noodles were great.
Grilled pork neck was fatty and delicious as well. Beef was good but the grilled coconut rice was weird.
The duck larb was lackluster in comparison.
- Larb
- Somtum
- Basil Fried Rice (Krapow)
Everything tasted authentic with Thai spice levels and flavors. I was craving for the authentic spicy somtum and they absolutely delivered. The place was also nicely decorated and clean.
Great place for Isan Thai cuisine in East Village. Would recommend trying the so poak kai der (signature fried chicken), gaeng om kai (spicy chicken herbal soup) and pad see eiw (stir-fried flat rice noodles) with seafood.
The fried chicken is more of an appetizer and comes with a spicy dip on the side. The herbal soup is sour and spicy, but comes with a good amount of chicken. The pad see eiw wasn't spicy and it was the tastiest and has a good balance of carbs, veggies and meat.
The place is of a decent size, although it may look bigger in pictures because of the floor-to-ceiling windows at the back side. The seating is a bit dense but the tables are large enough to accommodate around three plates of dishes.
The place is quite popular so consider getting a reservation. Although it is possible to get a table by walking in. Note that they open for dinner around 6pm, and that would be a good time to come in if you don't have a reservation.
I’m sure I’ll be back to this restaurant if I’m ever around the neighborhood again.
They serve a unique kind of Pad Thai that I’ve never had anywhere else; it’s incredibly spicy, the staff warned me beforehand and I said yes to the medium spice level but I guess they could also offer with no spicy for those who can’t handle any heat. Despite having to take breaks due to the spice, the dish was delicious and amazing! It left me curious about their other dishes, which I assume are traditional or authentically Thai in flavor.
Portion size was just right. Meal was satisfying. Staffs was also very attentive and made sure our glasses were always filled with refreshing iced water.
I love their food. It reminds me of Thai food in Thailand. Usually Thai food in other countries doesn’t like real Thai food but this SomTum Der got it. The staff were friendly and nice.
Absolutely incredible restaurant with some of the best Isan thai food I’ve ever had (best papaya salads in NY in my opinion) and also a very good central Thai dishes.
