Just popped in for a quick coffee which ring right next to Starbucks I don’t know why more people don’t go. They gave a good variety and are always eager to serve and the coffees and teas are super affordable. I’ve eaten the standard diner fare here before and it’s great. They are VERY eager to serve. Seems like a neighborhood spot where they know everyone and what they like.

The New Amity Restaurant is very conveniently located to where I stay when I visit Manhattan. When the opportunity arises, I will patronize this establishment for breakfast.
The food is good, the staff is attentive, businesslike and the service is outstanding. No waiting long for your food here.
There are other restaurants and diners within walking distance, where prices are slightly lower, but convenience and service wins out for this restaurant every time.
If you are a size XXL, like I am, you may want to sit at the counter as you will find the booths to be a little tight.

I live two blocks away and have been coming here since I was a little kid. One of my favorite restaurants/ diners in NYC. The staff is wonderful and they make the best burger in the city! Ignore all the negative reviews! They’re all trolls talking about some blue beanie!

Good fast service and friendly staff. Food was a bit bland though.

Absolutely amazing Gem located in the heart of NYC! I struggled to find a sit down breakfast place for a group of 4 so when I came across this place, I of course went straight to the reviews! PLEASE DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED by the reviews!!!! This lovely restaurant has 4.4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ On Facebook! I ordered the pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon. The pancakes were fluffy and cooked to perfection, the bacon crispy and taste amazing, the eggs were fluffy and delightful. I also had a glass of orange juice that was just how I liked it PULPY which is hard to find! And an Cup of coffee that was served in a glass cup on a saucier. We were greeted by smiles and greetings as soon as we stepped in the door. Definitely a must visit if wanting a good family owned home cooked breakfast!!!

Staff was super friendly. Many of the customers were obviously regulars. I was happy to find a cozy spot to get out of the cold and enjoy a tuna melt.

Excellent service and gyros, one of the best places to go if you’re visiting. Very kind owner and waitstaff.

This was a great diner to go to after a cold day walking the east side. The menu was expansive and there was something for everyone. The complaints about price that you see around on this list were not unjustified, but there are economic items on the menu if that matters to you. The Greek salad that I had was to die for!
Only removing one star because you literally had to sit sideways on the toilet if you were over 5’ 5”.
WTF (Where’s The Food)
Great place with amazing food and vibes and the service here was great. Food served was tasty and very delicious I loved it and i would like to visit here again soon.
Bonnie Tandy Leblang - BITE OF THE BEST
After seeing the recently closed Brancusi exhibit at the Guggenheim, we were again looking for a place a grab a light lunch in that in what I’ve heard referred to as a culinary wasteland. We walked, knowing we’d find somewhere to grab a bite. Noticing the Greek diner — the New Amity Restaurant — on Madison between 84th and 85th, we decided to take a chance. We sat at a table in the narrow restaurant that mirrors made it look larger. Our friendly waiter handed each of us one of the multi-page diner menus where eggs, a BLT or something simple is de rigueur.

Came here for a quick bite, Paid $100 for 2 sodie pops and a pizza.

To start off I was sexually assaulted, when the waiter first came to serve me, he introduced himself as "Hugh Mungus" and requested I call him that.

I ordered pepsi max , they brought me regular pepsi and then had the chutzpah to say "Who cares" WHO CARES?!?

After waiting 3 hours for the pizza it came, ice cold and tasting like sand... they brought me the bill 85$ with a 15$ forced tip!

I payed and was very stressed - so I whipped out my vape to calm down , after blowing a fat cloud a worker named ernesto shouted at me then proceeded to cough in my face , he physically assaulted me and threw me out then stole my hat and locked the door.

I am going to the police as we speak. Not only the worse restaurant of my life it was the worst experience of my life. AND I SHIT YOU NOT when I looked in the restaurant to take a video for evidence, I saw him SNIFFING my hat.

This has happened to other people, not just me. Don't believe the fake reviews the owner created to turn this place into 5*, save your money and go to papa johns.

Decent food but garbage service. We went into this dump on a Friday night at 8:30pm for dinner. While we were still eating, the waiter plops down the check without even asking if we wanted anything else. If that was not bad enough, at about 9pm, the doors were opened so the restaurant staff could take the garbage out for the night, letting in a blast of cold air while we were eating. But the icing on the cake occurred when this little runt of a waiter approached the table and said, "we're closing" while I still had food in my mouth. He
quickly scurried away from the table so I could not say or ask for anything else. Never in 45 years of living and eating out have I observed such blatant rudeness of a restaurant towards its patrons. Disgusting and totally unacceptable! Will never eat at this greasy spoon little dump again. Gotta wonder about a restaurant in Manhattan that closes 9pm on a Friday night...guess that says it all.
