Amazing Japanese store with fresh snacks, sweets, sushi and hot food items. 1 side is a grocery store and the other is mostly food to go. They have an upstairs dining area. The staff is really friendly and I loved how fresh the sashimi was. Buttery and tasty! They have fresh toro from Japan as well

Small GEM in Midtown, NYC.
If you are a group of 4-8 ppl, hungry, and looking for a place that is available for a meal in Midtown, You might get it only in your dream.
However, it has existed! Right here at Sunrise Mart. Price is very reasonable, many items, and delicious (De-Li-Cious-Su; Japanese accent, lol)
We had two bowls, 1 was a Grilled salmon with Chicken karaage, it's good but nothing special compared to other places.
The second, which was Gyusuji (Udon with Yam, and Beef stew) I'd say this was my favorite all the time. I must have it when I went to Sunrise Mart especially the one located in Brooklyn (and Brooklyn branch's soup flavor was stronger too) Udon was smooth but firmed, Soup was tasty but not too heavy nor thick. Beef stew might be cut a bit too small but that's ok. having along with a calpico or tea would send me to heaven. lmao.
They have a microwave and restroom (YEAH!)
I believe the best meal here is Gyusuji, and the second was Beef over rice. Don't forget to try it. ARiKaTo!
This wasn't my first time stopping by and surely it's not the last time too. recommended!!!!

Dope market, I wish it wasn't in the cut like thatā probably has to do with the rent prices being so high but this is a nice market. They have a restaurant right next door too. I got Tonkotsu Ramen and it was damn good. They have great seating and a nice ambiance, if you have time y'all should check it out.

Love coming here for lunch and getting their pre-made boxes! You get so much for less than $15 and I always get to try something new! Also love that Bryant park is a block away! Great place to stop by and then have a picnic!

Great Japanese supermarket in the Bryant Park area. They have two storefronts; one is their supermarket with some pre-prepared foods and sushi. While the other is more of a cafeteria/ restaurant style. Things here can be a little overpriced, especially if you can get the item at competing supermarkets. However, they offer a great selection of Japanese vegetables, snacks, goods. For non-perishable items, they are often competitive with online retailers, however, I always check with Amazon if I'm browsing teas or other products that I can get shipped. In their supermarket section, they have fish for sashimi or sushi that is often reasonably competitively priced. On the second floor, they have some household goods and beauty products that are often overlooked if you only look at the main ground level of the market. Excellent friendly service. However, make sure to bring your own bag because they charge a lot more than the usual $0.05 per bag.

After leaving my doctors appointment I stumbled upon Sunrise Market and was in love! As a foodie, authentic ethnic grocery stores make my heart smile and I am a LOVER of Asian cuisine. As I perused the store I said to myself "wow I wished they had a restaurant" and as I walked out the door and looked to my left, behold! My wish came true!
I was overwhelmed, in the best way possible. Watching the chefs cook in real time enhanced the experience. They have pre-made bento boxes, sushi bowls and plates that are already prepared. Or, you can order noodle, rice, dumpling, etc dishes freshly made for you in real time.
I ordered the Spicy Tuna Onigiri, Pork & Beef Dumplings, Tanuki Udon Noodles and ohmygawddddddd it was fantastic. Woof. They also offer, which I've never seen before, Japanese pasta dishes. I vowed to come back and try at a different time because the descriptions looked amazing.
For Covid-19 measures, patrons can order take out or sit outside for dining, if you sit inside you must write down your information for contact tracing and your temperature must be taken.
All in all, visit. Do it. I dare you. You'll love it.

I used to get Chicken Katsu Don every time I go to Midtown when I was living in New York. Now that I live in New Jersey, I refuse to leave New York if I haven't stopped by Sunrise Mart yet to get my favorite dish whenever I'm in the city. Their food is just that good and there's nothing like at other Japanese restaurants that I've been to.

My friends and I used to love this place but after today NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!
As my two girlfriends and I were eating lunch upstairs (one of them brought her own lunch from outside) a staff member approaches her and tells her that outside food is not allowed and asked her to leave, my other friend and I explained to the lady that she was with us and that even though it was true that she brought her own lunch we both were consuming food from the Sunrise Mart and the 3 of us were long time customers. She said IĀ“m sorry but thatĀ“s the policy, my friend then offered to buy something to accompany what she was eating, the lady then replied to her, of course you can buy something but still you can only eat what you bought in the store, we just couldn't believe it, then I said, are you asking us to leave?, she only replied "I didnĀ“t say that but thatĀ“s the policy" and she disappeared.
I asked to speak with the manager and for our surprise it was the same lady. I told her one more time: Are you serious asking us to leave? She only said this time: "It is what it is". We were completely shocked. I have been a customer of Sunrise Mart since more than 9 years ago, not only from the one in midtown but the one in the East Village as well, I used to live on 5th street and 2nd Ave. My friends and I always buy breakfast, lunch, coffee, tea, even stuff from the market that we love. We were truly disappointed today. We shared the story with all our colleagues who also are costumers and we all decided to definitely never step a foot at Sunrise Mart again.
P.S. ItĀ“s is the first time in eight years that something like this happens to us in any of the stores/delis/coffee shops in the area. It is true that all of them share the same policy but as long as you are with somebody who is consuming food or drinks from the establishment you are always welcome to stay!!!
