Always a favorite - had come here to pick up their bottles of hot sauce. Had a falafel sandwich as well - it tastes great with the sauce. Without the sauce, it is rather ordinary.
Located in East Village the outlet is quite Hangout place for residents nearby and gets a lot of customers due to the prime location
They have an amazing Ambience with good posters on the wall , staff are courteous here and welcoming.
I really liked their falafels as it is different and doesn't come in a wrap .

My trip to New York made an pleasent moment and fascinated with lots of diffrent type & Regions of food type.
Today after one of my closest and favorite place i have visited. st marks place near Manhattan new york. Where i have tasted the authentic taste of falafel. The place was cozy and services was pretty fast. The veggie falafel platter was around 7.50 USD with huge chunk of taste and delight.
I would really recommend everyone. Do visit and tast the authentic cuisine. Big thumbs up guys👍
Being a foodie, i can say that today was one of the best days of my life 😌
Today, i took a food walking tour around Greenwich area in NYC.
After the tour, i met a friend at Manoun's falafel and was asked to share my insight on whether this falafel tastes like our falafel back home in Lebanon or not. What is worth sharing about this place is that, as i was told, it was the very first falafel place to ever open in NYC.
Well, the texture, although not looking that appealing like the ones we have in Lebanon, still tasted great. All the chunks of herbs added inside had a tasty twist of falafel i am not used to in Lebanon. And what really perfected the taste was the condensed and just on-point tanihi/tarator.
Mamoun you definitely brought a great Falafel to the NYC!
Best falafel sandwich in New York.
Babaganush is very tasty too.
Visited after 2 yrs.Same tast but better ambience and service. It is more like a cafe now.
On my recent USA trip I visited this place in East Village for trying different Indian fast food in this area. We started with this place and till the time I visited I thought only best falafel available in dubai being coming from dubai. But believe me the best falafel I had in my life is at this amazing place. The one who loves spicy it's the best place.8 also carried their sauces with me for extra spicy food. Will definitely visit this place again when I will be in USA soon.
When you just finish a late night party somewhere in East Village & are looking finally eat before you crash - this is a go-to place.
While the falafel is decent, it's the hot signature sauce that these guys have which makes all the difference !!! Just incredible ...
Has to be followed up by some baklava & other sweets to balance the spice.
Love the hype around the place: standing in a long queue in freezing cold, just to pick up a falafel - but that's they charm!
Amazing falafel! Having lived in the Middle East, I don't say this lightly. The service is what you'd expect for a street food type of place but everyone was friendly to us and the prices make this joint one of the best bargains in Manhattan.
Everytime i come to NYC. I always drop by this place. One of the best falafel i had. Small place to eat in, got spaces outside for al fresco dining. Falafel is good all over, good combination of veggies. Im no expert on falafel but this is so damn good. Try it!
What is better than a drool inducing falafel sandwich from Mamoun's? Nothing you say? Well, I beg to differ because I experienced it today, and that is a FREE falafel sandwich from Mamoun's courtesy of Scoutmob! Yup - FREE! I received this ultra tasty offer today on my phone ap and ran over there to use it. Since the St. Marks location is just a few hops down from where I work I jumped on the subway to take advantage of the deal.
Mamoun's is one of those hole in the wall places that has been around since the 1970's and has a few locations in NY and Jersey. Decor is non-existant, as is any real seating other than a few tables and a small counter by the front window, but there is actually some outside seating with a few tables on the sidewalk. Yes, this location is a little bigger than the one on MacDougal Street and is still meant to be a quick grab and go meal spot.
If there is one thing they do here they do it exceptionally well - and that is make a kick ass falafel sandwich! Only $2.50! An excellent bargain for a most enjoyable crispy taste sensation. The guys behind the counter are super quick no-nonsense types that whip out your food lightning fast. You can't get any cheaper than this. Well, you can if it's free with a phone ap offer - but at $2.50 for a nice sized pita sandwich it's criminally almost free anyway!
Like it hot and spicy? There is a squeeze bottle of liquid flame that is usually by the counter or sitting on one of the tables. Put a few drops on your food and kiss your taste buds and intestines goodbye. If you crave the heat you will love this sauce. All others use at your own risk.
Mamoun's is cash only, but it's so cheap and so good that all you need is a few bucks to enjoy a quality bite whether when lunch time hunger pangs hit, or the late night drunk munchies come calling your name.
Super hummus carefully wrapped in pita...with the falafel gently embedded within. Baba ghanoush followed as a lunch completer, to be washed down with mint lemonade. This was a complete Arab lunch. The atmosphere was finger-licking good. The service was immediate and friendly. Keep it up!!!!!!!!!!!
Probably the best Mediterranean I've eaten in US! Having grown up in the United Arab Emirates my expectations are expectedly high. Had the lamb and chicken shawarma and it definitely did not disappoint. The bread was stuffed with meat and I can guarantee you won't leave hungry! Service and ambience is like you'd expect from a fast food joint but I like the no frills approach! 5/5
Fantastic! A small take out place on St. Marks in the East village. I have been here many times over the years and the falafel is just delicious. Totally spot on! The chicken and lamb shawarma are awesome as well. Definitely a main place to hit when in NYC.
Delicious. Had pita with falafel & another with lamb shawarma. Was verging on full after the falafel but the flavour got me across the finish line. Thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Will be back to try the baba ganouj and hummus. Highly recommend.
Wonderful Falafel. What this place doesn't provide in flavor it more than makes up for in taste. The falafel is amazing. How can it be that soon aster you have your last Mamoun falafel you yearn for more. The hummus is fresh and well made and the meats are delightful and very tasty.
I wasn't kidding about seating in this place, there isn't much. Think about taking it To Go.
Great little secret. Mamoun's is an amazing little hole-in-the-wall establishment tucked somewhere in St. Mark's. You can't really find it unless you look. It's pretty much just a grab-and-go place and the food is like no other. It is cheap (and boy do I mean cheap, not just for New York standards) and the food is as authentic as could be. This is the place to go when you want good, fast food.
Nothing Wrong Wi' This!. Tasty, cheap, fairly friendly service, open late, what's not to like?
I've had falafel all over the world and I have to say Mamoun is fabulous. The falafel are spiced just right and fried to perfection. Crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. I've died and gone to falafel heaven!! Oh, the humous and baba ganouj are delish!
Very little seating but when some of the best falafel I've ever had is offered for $2.50 - $3.50 w/humus - there no guessing why this is such a widely known spot.
People will recommend this place to you all the time, and for good enough reasons: this place is cheap, tasty, fast, open late, vegan friendly, and fairly people friendly. It's small, but you can often sit down as many people come, order, pay, eat, and leave in under 7 minutes. Falafel 'n' Hummus It doesn't do much for my needs since they have a vanilla menu *. Also, while they're probably the cheapest in Manhattan, they're not incredible in some way that makes them requisite foodie eating. My point is, if you're a tourist or something, this doesn't need to be on your list, but if you work up an appetite getting a tattoo down the street, use your last $2.50 on some delicious falafel! *I'm going to start using this as a term on my site, by the way.
Every student in New York City you talk to will know about Mamoun's. The reason? Falafel for $2.50. A gigantic platter for $5. The prices for other sandwiches are more average (my chicken schwarma, below, was $5). I am never unsatisfied here, but never wo
I've been here 5 times or so in the last several months. Despite the pandemic and the somewhat suspect clientele that wander around St. Marks at night, they run an efficient machine to provide for great mediterranean food in the lower east side. A favorite of mine is their falafel (better than all those Halal carts) and baba ganoush (freshly made; you can taste the roasted flavor in it). I usually get their sandwiches , but their platters are good for groups. Get their loyalty card to earn points and freebies on purchases.
Nice people. Really tasty food. Sandwich was a bit small. Going to try the platter next time and I heard the lamb is amazing. I will be going back very soon. Falafel was super tasty and fresh. Clean inside and some small seats outside as well.
Mamoun's has changed since the early days of $3.50 shwarma sandwiches but the food is still amazing. Today that shwarma will run you $8 plus anything else you want as a side. The ingredients are top notch and the hot sauce is flaming. Enjoy your trendy middle eastern sandwich. The food is still the same stuff that made Mamoun's a late night success.
Great spot. Food is truly epic. The menu layout is very confusing. Understanding how to order food here stresses me the f$&@ out.
The place is small like a box, you won't even get a table to stand and eat, or you might end up eating at the table by the Trash can, but all this does not matter if the food is what the mean to impress you. And they could accomplish it successfully!
We were in a group of three and we ordered 3 different kinds of falafels with sides of salads, hummus and pita. It was hard to choose one favourite. They were so crispy and yet so tender, so aromatic. The salad dressing was good and a little different from usual.
A thumbs up!
Consistently delicious! Never fails. I had a Manhattan today -- amazing!
