While there are numerous Korean restaurants in Flushing, San Soo Kap San, with one location on Union Street, and another on Northern, has especially won my heart. The Northern Boulevard one is larger, and having eaten there several times, for both lunch and dinner, I can say that their menu is wide and varied, and there is always a generous amount of kim chi served.

While one expects a delicacy of hand with all Korean food, the chef here seems to have an especially studied and thoughtful style. The Pa Jun is superb, as is the Kaeran Chim, and the Bi Bim Bap even made my mouth water (and I don't generally eat meat.)

It doesn't hurt either that the service at both locations is first-rate; the decor is pleasant and the ambiance is comfortable in the Northen Blvd locale. The Union Street branch of the restaurant is pleasant, although slightly more casual in decor and ambiance than the other.

The lunch box specials (I had the salmon one, and tasted morsels from my friend's chicken box) are an especially good treat, both moderately priced and fabulously delicious!
