My wife, myself and many of our beach loving friends know that sharks is famous for their unique cuisine using a steam cooking process. The result is a consistent and wonderful flavor experience. Sharks very well may be the best kept secret on the Oregon coast. The Cioppino is our favorite.
Absolutely fabulous, great quality seafood for incredible prices and amazing friendly staff. The food is prepared right before you and your stomach has never been happier. A definite draw between the Cioppino and the Gumbo, Corky really knows his stuff. Best food in Newport !!
Best salmon and cioppino ever!. I am in love with the way they prepare salmon. And, their cioppino is the most delicious I've ever had. No fried food here... everything's prepared right in front of you... so fresh. Great service and full bar, too. We recommend it to everybody.
Sharks Seafood Bar, Nov. 7, 2010. Fish stews to die for. Owner Cairin (sp?) was more like a hostess at a party. Lots of enthusiasm and fun. She paid particular attention to kids at other tables. One of best seafood restaurants we've ever visited.
Authentic seafood classics with a twist and the cioppini was awesome paired with a nice Pinot. Karen was a wonderful hostess and great with the kids. A real gem in Newport not to be missed.
Delicious, fresh seafood! I highly recommend the coconut tiger prawns and the mai tais. Super friendly service as well.
The best meal I have had on the coast in years. I am very picky and was truly impressed by the friendly and fast service (very warm and welcoming), and by the incredible food. The cioppino was fabulous-- the best I have ever had with plenty of herbs and flavor. The fresh fish of the day and the amazing crab were cooked expertly-- delicate and moist and full of flavor. The entrees came with great salads and with fresh fruit and steamed veggies that were delicious. My kids split a side of fresh fruit and a side of steamed veggies before their entree and they had the healthiest and most tasty meal they have had in a long time at a restaurant. Even the coffee was outstanding! Highly recommended!
The Best Seafood Restaurant On The Oregon Coast. This is the best seafood restaurant on the Oregon Coast. The owner is super friendly and the Cioppino is excellent!!!! The fresh seafood is purchased locally and they don't serve anything fried. Killer stews, soups and gumbo loaded with fresh seafood. If you're a seafood fan, don't think twice, just go and enjoy.
The waitress was fantastic! The food was the best that we had in Newport, OR. We had the dungeness crab, which was excellent. Highly recommended restaurant and right downtown with everything. And the fish were entertaining, they love squash!

Everyone in our party of four liked their meal and cocktails. The place is extremely small. Four tables that fit four and three more that fit two, but we went on an off night, Wednesday night, and did not have a wait. Never felt rushed. Delicious, perfectly made, and generously poured cocktails. One thing I greatly appreciated is that when our fabulous waitress, Karen, told us about the specials she also told us the price of the specials. Most specials were about $43-$46 but the menu items have wonderful choices for around $25-$30 each. They were also extremely accommodating for my very challenging dietary restriction of "no garlic". Very generous portions of seafood. Definitely would come back again, and highly recommend the restaurant. Although, pricey, fresh seafood is pricey.
It is so rare to be welcomed into an establishment with such warmth and kindness. That was the beginning of our fabulous meal at Shark's.
We have been camping for two weeks now so we were looking for a casual spot - nothing fancy.
We both ordered dinner salads and the cioppino - I had mine with the pasta. The salad was generous and fresh and the cioppino was the BEST we have ever had...I especially love not having to work so hard to enjoy my dinner. At Shark's the crab in the cioppino is served with the shell removed.
We mentioned a place we frequent in Nor Cal/Moss Landing and the hostess said she was familiar with the place. She mentioned Sunset Magazine did a spotlight on their cioppino, as well as the Moss Landing restaurant's and a place in Seattle. We only have one night here in Newport and we feel so fortunate to have found Shark's.
I was so impressed with my Ciopinno! It was so flavorful and everything I had hoped for. The ambience was warm and friendly. They gave us so much bread and butter too! We will definitely be returning regularly. 10/10 recommend!
Wow just wow! From the moment you walk through the door, the wonderful steamed seafood butter and garlic aromas fill the air. The vibe is cozy and family oriented. Karen and her team go over and above for each and every customer. It will be a diner to remember. Nothing but good vibes and warmth from this must visit Restaurant! Great date night or family and friends gathering. The bar is also a great place for the solo travelers who have a hankering for delicious seafood and cocktails!
A perfect dinner.
I have never felt so acknowledged and known by a restaurant owner/server. The other server was also very kind but after staring at the Sun that was the woman seemingly in charge. Wow. I hope she is there when you visit. Call ahead to ask if she is there! It will still be a great time but go visit again if you can! Her presence alone awards Newport their moniker as "Friendliest City." Of course I won't expect her to be sunny everyday, because how can anyone burn that bright!
I had saved my bread and wine, waiting for the seafood stew to arrive yet when it arrived I forgot all about my wine and bread and was enraptured by every sip of the spoon!
The atmosphere was perfect for me! ❤ The door would open and everyone would turn to watch the newcomers be so dearly welcomed in! And when we left, she opened the front door and called out "Take care Alex."
Again you may not get that experience, but if you do... ooof... it will last you well into the night!

Finally found my favorite restaurant in all of newport!! My partner and i went out to dinner during its reopening. Our server, the owner, was incredibly charming! She sat us right next to the fireplace. I had the crab special with two cocktails. Finally, a place in newport with worthy craft cocktails! My parnter had a pasta which was bursting with flavor from the sea. All the ingredients are local and i could taste it. I'll be taking everyone i know to this little piece of taste paradise❤️
Karen always welcomed us with open arms and a hug. If that's not a fantastic starter, check out the menu. I would rate it as one of the best seafood joints I have ever experienced. The quality of food and their cooking make a huge difference. We have come back for dinner every time we come to Newport, at least once. Highly recommend you to try.
This is the BEST restaurant in Newport! My family came here 7 years ago and traveled 3,000 miles from Pennsylvania to come back again this summer for my Dads 60th birthday!
The service is outstanding, the quality of food is amazing, and the atmosphere is extremely welcoming. There were several regulars in there that the waitress knew by name so that’s always a great sign! Can’t wait to go back 😃

Off the beaten path for Newport but right on 101. The best seafood we have had on our entire trip. The night before we ate on the Newport “main drag” and this blew everything out of the water. The seafood was steamed and incredibly delicious. If you want a true local feel, this is the place to go. You can see the ocean from the restaurant and it’s so quaint! Thankful we stumbled upon Sharks. The Cioppino was AMAZING and staff is unmatched.
You guys! Go here! It's really, really good. There is a lot of love going on at this place. The service is spot on, the food is fresh and really good. We had steamer clams, scallops, green salad and fresh fruit. Everything was perfect and the fruit!! Oh man!
Our family stayed across the street and we found ourselves not wanting to venture anywhere else. The food was delicious with so much seafood added to the pasta, we were extremely impressed. The customer service was spectacular, we felt like family.
Definitely a must for anyone in the area.
Small tucked away place that you got to look for. They cook all their fish through old time steamers, nothing fried.. You can sit at their bar and watch the cook.Small operation but big on Food. We had Cioppino - portions were large, price was reasonable and the "lazy man's" Cioppino was the best we had on the coast. We will be back!
Excellent service and amazing food. Definitely not cheap. It gets a little noisy in there when there a lot of people.
Perfect all around. The clams were AMAZING along with the cod and crab special. Very cute atmosphere and excellent service. We will be coming here next time we are in town!
