We had an event here last night for about 65 people. It was a 40th birthday party for our boy/girl twins. I was nervous as the restaurant had just changed hands, the original person I spoke to about a function had left, and I was worried about some of the reviews of the food. Everything was great. The space was amazing. Kerry, who has taken over the functions, was great. Their booking software was easy to use. Kerry was there to help me put up a few decorations. About half our guests started off at Puzzle Break which is right behind the restaurant. The other half enjoyed some great light appetizers and drinks while we waited for the Puzzle Break crew to return. The bartenders were awesome, such nice people. There is a great beer and wine list and lots of delicious drinks. They had my favorite chardonnay. When the Puzzle Break crowd arrived the hot appetizers, salads, pastas and tips came out and they marked all the gluten free items for us. The bartenders easily kept up with the demand. Everyone raved about the food. We brought in a cake. Everyone on the staff was so helpful the whole evening. When we were wrapping things up we got to meet a couple of the owners who could not have been nicer -"good people". The bartenders helped box up the food and gifts. We easily made the room minimum and felt it was a good value for what we ate and drank. We had a big age range among our guests but everyone seemed to enjoy the space, the food, the music, and especially the staff. We will definitely use Union Street again for functions as will some of our guests.
The only drawback is the lack of an elevator and the restrooms are on the lower level. We worked around it but just know accessibility is an issue.
I had my husband’s surprise 50th at Union Street Saturday night. It was amazing! The food was outstanding, the space was perfect, and the staff was so friendly and on top of everything. I highly recommend this place for anyone needing an event location. So happy I chose Union Street. Thank you, thank you for making my husband’s surprise party so great.
I held my wedding reception here and rented the whole space upstairs. The staff was on point from start to finish. The Bartenders Sean and Sheila were raved about by my guests for days afterwards. The food was delicious, the room was bright, open and the coordinator made planning super simple. Great price for a location that handled a large group, was near transit and near a large parking lot. Not a complaint was had, and I'd gladly have another relaxed party here.
came in late & starving and the kitchen was closed for the night & a gentleman named tommy opened it back up and made us the best burgers!! We had a great time & we'll definitely be back!!
Excellent spot! The new owners and staff have really stepped up the food and atmosphere! Much better than the last time I went a few years back , Great meeting spot and will be back often! Service is excellent too!
Oh my, I had the best salad at Union Street Restaurant. The salmon was juicy and seasoned perfectly. Had lunch on Sunday at Union. Decided to stay inside because it was too hot on the patio. Diligent staff, very decent price for large portions, balanced drink, warm and comfortable ambiance. I will definitely come back.
Great bar and restaurant in the Newton area. Last time I went, we got wings and I had the backyard burger. The food was great.
This time, we only got drinks. Heather is one of the best bartenders there. We had a really nice time! Thank you SO much!
Cali Beyond Smash Burger was delicious. Buffalo Chicken sandwich had a nice kick. Wide range of drinks, we stuck to beer. Friendly staff. We sat in basement which was cool. They also have a patio.
I use to come here frequently before I had kids. It's always been fun. But alas, we all grow old. I Brought my son here for brunch. I have to say...the service was phenomenal. Pierro was absolutely fantastic with my son. He was attentive to my 6 year old, heavily engaged. My son couldn't stop talking about the 'Pierro Special' (Pink Lemonade /Ginger ale /Water) and my son loved it. Honestly, I can't tell if Pierro made it up, but it was a hit. When it came time to pay, our bill had a picture of a spider, drawn by Pierro, that my son noticed due to their earlier conversation about Spider-Man. It just takes little details like that to turn experience from good to memorable. At the end of all of it my son told me that it was the best experience eating out he's ever had (and I'm thinking in my head it's just Union bar but whatever). I highly recommend going to Union for the food and the impeccable service.
Edit 7/24: The Pierro special is definitely a thing. Also, I visited today and Katiey is also an amazing server. It's obvious Union hires amazing staff!
Great food and drinks! My friend and I had the veggie burger and fish & chips. We both thought everything was very fresh tasting. Drinks were good and decently priced. Atmosphere is excellent and they have 3 floors of dining I believe.
We came on the first night they re-opened for dine-in service on their patio. We didn’t make a reservation due to poor planning on our part. We decided to simply show up and see if they could fit us in. Not surprisingly they were busy! The manager went the extra step to figure out how to fit us in and did so ever so kindly! So appreciative he could because we had a really enjoyable and delicious meal.
We got the blackberry BBQ wings to start, which were soooo good! I would definitely get them again! My sister and I both got the roasted walnut and goat cheese salad with added chicken. Really delicious. My boyfriend got the fish & chips, which he enjoyed too. We got a few drinks and found the outdoor ambiance really relaxing. They have a very large patio. Super nice evening and can’t wait to go back this summer...next time we’ll be sure to make a reservation! :-)
