I was the recipient of a very unexpected free meal, but excellent, meal for having been a peacetime draftee veteran. Thanks to Leon, our outstanding waiter, who initiated the action by BJs management that resulted in a free meals.
Went to BJs after golf for a late lunch. During the conversation with our server we discussed what BJs did for veterans on Nov. 11 (a free entree). One of our party felt that combat veterans were more deserving of the free entree so he didn't take advantage of it. Our server talked to the manager and our veteran got his free entree today 11/15. Our server (Leon) is a young man with his head on straight and a knack for customer service. That's why we give BJs a 5.
This is one of the best restaurant I visited during my USA visit. Great sports bar ambience. Little dark. But perfect for your chilled beer sips.
This place is popular for different dark beer varieties and worth to try. American menu is awesome and never got disappointed during my 4 visits to this place.
Service is quick. Staff is helpful. Restaurant is little crowded during peak hours so plan accordingly.
Waiting to visit here again.
Great food, atmosphere (although a little too dark), and friendly staff. We really enjoyed our meals and the cookies. Awesome! Can't wait to eat there again.
Went here with a colleague of mine who was celebrating his citizenship.
The beer was well crafted and the steak was good and value for money, the sirloin (15$) I ordered came too rare due to the thickness of the meatloaf, and the full steak (New York Strip $20) my colleague ordered as rare was more cooked since i was thinner.
I took a piece from his plate to taste! Both the steaks were awesome, one of the best I have had, and it was value for money too, even the beef at '24 Hour Diner' cost around 15$.
Along with the steak I took, Asparagus and Caesar salad which was done alright.
They did not have bud and the waiter suggested we try their draft beer, he got one which was awesome, I regret not asking him the name for it.
The beef and sides was too much hence we all skipped dessert.
I am coming here again if I am travelling to Norman, but very less chance of that :(
Overall I am rating them 4.5, they lost .5 on the slightly under-cooked steak and the bill that took a long time to come..
Food 5/5
Value for Money 5/5
Service 4/5
Location 5/5 (Next o Highway)
Ambiance 4/5
Gone bad. Always liked this place but it has been taken over by some inexperienced kids
That don't know how to serve.and all the manager does is apologize for bad the service. Even the bartenders doesn't know the very basic drinks.
I am sorry such a good place has gone south

Great food greater customer service. I have been going to the Norman location since they opened, it's a hangout for Fridays after work with co workers or for family outings. The food just gets better, service has improved a lot. There was a problem with my drink last time the waitress i wish i could remember her name but she was so sweet and helpful she got the manager and he personally came and took care of it, that means a lot. Love the beer selection, great place to watch the game. The price for beer is on the high side
The food is decent, but the beer is fantastic.
Decent Chain Restaurant. Like what some reviewers have noted, BJ's is just like The Cheesecake Factory. It has a HUGE menu that provides something for everyone. It's also a chain restaurant, but don't let that label fool you. Just like The Cheesecake Factory as well, the food is pretty darn good. Most dishes fall in the average to above average category, but a few that I've tried are rated exceptional by me and my peers.
For appetizers, Spinach Stuffed Mushrooms and Chicken Pot Stickers are perfect to start the meal with. Mini-Bruschetta is good too, but I prefer the other 2 appetizers mentioned over this. Their flatbreads are pretty good. We've tried the Fresh Basil with Italian Sausage and Grilled Chicken Pesto. Both are very delicious and we tend to order this for as our meal for lunch.
The crowd favorite is their Cajun Pasta. Delightfully spiced, the flavors in this dish will literally dance in your mouth. We all get the Blackened Chicken with it and it provides the right amount of smokiness to complement this pasta dish. I've tried substituting the chicken with shrimp, but it's just not as good as the chicken. Another dish that was relatively good is the New Orleans Jambalaya. It has all the fixins in it and a dash of Tabasco will spice it up even more. Both their Fresh Atlantic Salmon and Thai Salmon are favorites that one of us tends to go back to from time to time. Their pizzas are done right. We haven't tried one that we didn't like.
Overall, everyone can pretty much find something they like. We haven't had one bad experience yet with them. Service is pretty fast for the most part and they get really busy during lunch and dinner service hours. We have skipped dessert every single time because our meal is so good that we end up stuffing ourserlves.
Here's the thing with BJs. Its kind of like Cheesecake Factory. Cool room, huge menu, high prices, everything is pretty good and nothing is great. To the good for BJs is the food is better, the prices not quite as unreasonable and instead of cheesecake shipped in from California their specialty is beer shipped in from California. I like cheesecake. I prefer ales. Order what you want -- it'll be fine. You won't write home about it but you will second guess the price.
Good food. Good server.. Went there for the first time. Everything was a little bit better then expected which is a plus. Had mac and cheese, wings, pot roast sandwich, and there pizza dessert trio. I thought the pot roast sandwich and the dessert were very tasty. Had a really great server.. one of our appetizer plate (the small side plates they bring out) was still very wet and dirty and the waitress noticed almost right away after our reaction and brought us a clean one even though I told her it wasn't necessarily. This was impressive, i think most servers would just ignore it due to A. being lazy or B. Embarrassed, hope we don't notice or say anything. C. Don't care. but she handled it very well. The food is good but I'd have to agree with a review below that the prices don't match. Everything seems a dollar or two higher then I think would be a good balance..but hey I don't pay the bills! Well I guess in a way we all collectively do.
Love the fact that they have an extensive gluten-free menu.
Good choice. I've only been to the OKC location, but I've always had wonderful service and great food. Great place to watch a game. Great veggie burger.
Very accomodating. I've been here several times with large groups and the service has been very attentive. The food is always great and of course the beer is delicious. Very good size portions and priced appropriately. The Pizza/calzone has been better than expected. The only warning is the beer is stronger than most and gets to you a little faster than you would expect. Delicious!
I Do Love the Food.. It is usually crowded, but we have gone on weeknights and been pleasantly surprised at how quiet it can be.
We haven't had a bad meal there, and we are both fans of the Parmesan Crusted Chicken and the Pizookie. I'm not sure what they do to the chicken, but the crust is so light and crispy. You see Jesus. Their root beer is pretty good as well. The portions are huge, and we usually end up with a box. We often go with friends, and everyone had their favorites, but I haven't heard a complaint. Supposedly the pizza is great.
I can't say we've ever had bad service, but when they are busy expect to wait or flag down a server. They get very busy. The atmosphere is very open and energetic. During games there are a lot of people at the bar watching the big screen.
If you prefer a more intimate setting then go during the off times like late afternoon or early weeknight.
They have the best pizza ever!!!
Outstanding experience. BJ's offers an amazing menu-brewed beers-outstanding waitstaff & a great atmosphere. This is overall one of the best restaurants in Norman.
Good food, but maybe too expensive.. Inside of the place is pretty cool, but it is big and open, so it can get fairly loud. Food is pretty dang good for a chain (the deep dish pizza is incredible/a must have!), but I think it is expensive for what it is. I have gone several times, and if I feel like paying a little extra, I'll go again. My experience with the service has always been great! Nice beer selection.
Great beer and deserts other than thy bland food and not enough options on menu
Nice find. I really didn't expect much more than chain type over priced foo foo food, but I was wrong. I had the Jambalaya and it was perfect. The Shrimp was moist and flavorful, the andouille sausage packed a punch, the blackened chicken distinctive - like an explosion of individual flavors all coming together. Also at my table, and all of which I sampled and loved were a pizza and the Chardonnay Shrimp pasta. Yumm! The pizza crust here is really delicious as are the fresh sauce and the toppings. Also - The make their own beer and Root Beer which they will bring you a "scooch" of to try before you buy. Oh yeah, I'll be back.
Spinach and artichoke pizza is the thing to get!
I like BJ's, but.... We've been going to BJ's off and on since they opened and for the most part we like going there. We were hooked on the pizza and Fish n' Chips for a while... awesome! Then due to the inconsistancy in the batter on the fish we needed to try other menu items. Pretty much everything on the menu so far is pretty good with large portions! One of the main reasons we went there quite often was just for the Fish n' Chips. I would love to see them get their fish batter under control so that it is more like advertised on the menu..."special light batter", not the thick and chewy chunks that they have been serving for the past few months... all it takes is thinning the batter down a bit! I guess next time I visit I'll ask the waitress if the batter is the special light batter or the thick and chewy batter.
Anyways, I do like BJ's and they do have a great selection, the service is great, as is the beer! I'm just a fish n' chip snob and want my light and crispy fish again! I don't think that is too much to ask, do you?
GF and I's favorite fallback restaraunt. My girlfriend and I come here as a fallback from our favorite places, and we have never been disappointed. We always get the California Grilled Chicken Sandwich with the thin fries. This sandwich is one of my favorites around. The bread is a toasted garlic bread, which is a plus for me. The fries are one of my favorites; they are very thin and small, but have a delicious taste that is a little different. The fullness of the flavor almost reminds me of the sweet potato fries from the Elephant Bar at Penn Square Mall.
Also, the pazookie(sp?) is great. They feel lighter than eating a cake or brownie, but the cookies are cooked to a crispy outside with a soft inside with two scoops of ice cream stacked on top of each other. They have four different flavor combinations.
Went to BJ's recently during my Big 12 travels. The Jambalya is the best. I'm hungry for it again already!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Norman! I've never had something that wasn't delicious! With there diverse menu you might think they are better at some things then others but at hb's this isn't the case! Their pizza is excellent ( try the great white) and there sandwiches are great! I also love the appetizers! I think there are avacado rolls? But they are really good! Also, they brew there own beers! They are a little pricey but definately original! I like the Jeremiah red! Anothe great thing about bj's is the atmosphere! It has a great design and most of the waitresses are hot! LOL
Good food, nice atmosphere. We frequent this spot about once every few months. The fish tacos are wonderful, and my boyfriend loves the chicken fried steak (he orders that most places we go). The best appetizer in my opinion is the pot stickers, they are not too heavy and get you ready for the meal (what an appetizer is supposed to do). The wedge salad is decent, I usually ask for extra dressing on the side b/c they tend to skimp a little, but that is easily fixed. Great made to order deep dish pizza and calzones, but they have pretty much everything on their menu, everyone will find something they like (from pasta, steak, pizza, salads, GIANT potatoes, etc). They have lot of beer on tap, and they give you food pairings in their menu (nice feature, wish more places did that). The apple cider was flat, but just the one time I was disappointed with anything there. Now for desert…the PAZOOKIE! (pizza-cookie) is a made to order, oven baked in a pizza pan, awesome ooey-gooey cookie. You can even have them do half and half (chocolate chip/white chocolate macadamia nut). They serve it with ice cream, it is KILLER! Go just for that if you must. Wow, I'm starting to salivate….
So my girlfriend from Spain came to visit me and the first night she arrived I took her to the BJ’s in Norman. I know that it is a chain, and not a good representation of the food here, but they serve the full menu late on weekend nights and I didn’t want to take her to Denny’s and really give her a bad impression, and really, I am happy with their food, although they are a bit expensive I think. We arrived at Bj’s a bit after 9pm and was quickly greeted and sat down....
