Walked in to “Box Car Betty’s” for the first time and had the idea of loaded fries. Seeing that they didn’t have any made me ask the question creating my own. Well a 5min conversation of what that looked like adding in the helpfulness of the staff. We created the picture you see on my review. Chicken breast (cut up) on top of fries w/ spicy mayo, ranch and with some of the best pimento cheese I’ve ever tasted. We created a masterpiece! 10/10
P.s. I couldn’t stop eating it, had to snap a picture before it went missing lol.

Outstanding spot! Tried both their classic and spicy chicken sandwich options, and both were fantastic - delicious, juicy chicken, and a terrific mix of sauces and other ingredients all helped to make these some of the better fried chicken sandwiches I've ever had. Lots of tasty side options, as well - the fried pickles were choice. Would definitely come back here.

You don’t go to the restaurant for the atmosphere. You go for some of the best chicken I’ve ever had!! The breading is flavored perfectly, cooked for the perfect amount of time and best flavor I’ve had in a LONG time. The fries are seasoned and fried perfectly so none of them were soft or soggy. I love the buffalo sauce and blue cheese for dipping. And they appear homemade. An absolute must if you’re in town.

The double smash burger (beef) was awesome. Definitely get the fried pickles if that's something you like because they are amazing. Overall a must for lunch!

One of the better chicken sandwiches I've ever had, the sandwich was cooked 2perfection juicy seasoned well and fall of the bone texture. The 🍟 were done just right with light salt. Customer service was on par great experience 4 me.

Love coming here while visiting Charleston! Fried green tomatoes are my favorite. Food is always hot and fresh. I was late taking pictures of the rest of our meal.

When I entered the place at 7:53pm the place was being cleaned preparing to close at 8:00pm. The place was still clean upon entering the location. The customer service was exceptional when I placed the order.
I inquired about the rewards and if it was still available. I was informed that the rewards was still apart of the restaurant.
However, the system was having technical difficulties throughout the day and my number was not found.
Seems like one of the employee was ready to go, but I didn't like the way he was acting because I was taking like 2 mins at the machine. However, I cancelled my order and requested a refund, and advise them I would go somewhere to eat.
I thank them for the execeptional customer service at the POS and left. The refund took place at 8:00pm. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Staff were so friendly!! I enjoyed eating here. My partner goes here at least once a week! We are big fans. I cannot wait to have more of the sweet potato fries!

Best fried chicken sandwich in the south. Delicious fries everything taste fresh staff is friendly did you have a very good Friday but how you might want your sandwich you don't have to get fried I prefer it was great nice atmosphere . give the fried pickles a try

A wonderful fresh fried chicken sandwich. This was first visit as I in the area for business. Very friendly staff, the young lady who waited could tell it was first time and She was very courteous and helpful. All social distancing measures were in place by the staff and being follow. Clean dining area and kitchen. You get you moneys worth with the sandwich.

I kept hearing about this place and was intrigued by the small menu. To me, this indicates they choose a few things and do them extraordinarily well. It finally popped up as available on Uber Eats, so we jumped at the chance to give it a try.
Unfortunately fried food does not travel well. I feel like this would likely be a 5 star review had we been there to enjoy our meals on site. Fresh out of the kitchen, still sizzling is the way to eat fried foods. The sides of fries, fried pickles, and fried pickled green tomatoes definitely suffered some loss of quality in transit. Still, the tomatoes in particular were delicious. Sliced thick enough to stand, tangy and tart, they are a star side. I will always get them. The fried pickles were better than many places', and the presumably housemade Ranch was surprisingly good. I usually poo-pooh Ranch but this was pretty yummy. Whatever the sauce was for the tomatoes was tasty too, but they were so good they stood alone. That sauce was not suited to the pickles, interestingly.
The chicken sandwich is what this place is famous for, and it delivers. Bye bye Popeye's, you're dethroned. This big giant chicken breast with delectable seasoned breading fried crisp is the champ of chicken sandwiches. The buns were fresh and soft, and however you dress it up you're gonna have a good time. Grab extra napkins, these puppies are juicy!
I got the Chicken "Not-so-Waffle" with Bacon Jam, Maple Syrup, Pimiento Cheese, and Tomato. Next time I will lose the wholly unnecessary and somewhat confusing tomato and maybe add bacon because I am a glutton. The flavor profile was totally perfect except the distracting tomato. I am definitely coming back for a second swing at this one.
Hubby made his own fried Chicken sandwich because he hates everything I love in food. His creation featured Swiss, Bibb lettuce, tomato, and spicy mayo. He thought it was great. They have many more exciting options if you are more like me than my husband LOL While the menu seems small, the possibilities are numerous.

Wow! This was our first time to Boxcar Betty’s,……what a great experience! My children said on a scale of 1 to 10 it was a 1 million! Love the light breading on the chicken! Love the sweet chili sauce! I wish they had these in Florida!

I come here quite often. My food has been hot and so fresh every single time. Last night it was 5 minutes to 8 (closing time) but I still saw people in there and thought maybe they were closing later so I went in. (I have experience with food service and used to hate when people would come in last minute.). However, the manager, Israel was so incredibly pleasant about me dining in and he had such a good attitude with having people in there eating after closing time. The food is great, but the service and energy in there is what I really appreciate.
